WADESVILLE, Ind. -- Frank L. Hammond, 61, of Wadesville died Saturday, July 7, 2001, at his home from cancer. The Paoli, Ind., native was a member of Funkhouser American Legion Post 8 in Evansville and received a certificate of appreciation from Conrad Baker Foundation for his work on the old courthouse and jail in Evansville. He retired from Metro Tucking Co. in 1995 and enjoyed spot shooting.

Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Colleen Roth Hammond; three sons, Franklin Hammond, at home, and Mark Hammond and Josh Hammond, both of Evansville; four grandchildren; a nephew; and a niece.

Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, Ind. Burial will be in Sunset Hill cemetery in Rockport. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Vista Care Hospice of Evansville.

Richard P. 'Jack' Terry

TELL CITY, Ind. -- Richard P. "Jack" Terry, 55, of Tell City died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at his home from cancer. The Perry County, Ind., native was a guard at Branchville Correctional Facility, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2939 in Tell City and an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tell City and enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Linda Cronin Terry; two sons, David Terry of Grandview, Ind., and Russell Terry of Tell City; 12 grandchildren; his mother, Flora Kellems Terry of Tell City; four brothers, Andrew Terry and Eddie Terry, both of Tell City, Kenneth Terry of Birdseye, Ind., and John Terry of Chrisney, Ind.; and four sisters, Margary Loper, Sharon Williams and Anona Lawson, all of Tell City, and Ollie Hobbs of Huntingburg, Ind.

Services are at 11 a.m. Friday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City chapel. Burial will be in Lilly Dale cemetery in Gatchel, Ind. Military rites will be conducted by VFW Post 2939. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 8 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to American Diabetes Association.

Robert W. Mulzer

EVANSTON, Ind. -- Robert W. Mulzer, 70, of Evanston died Sunday, July 1, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The New Boston, Ind., native was an Army veteran, a retired rural mail carrier and a retired farmer. He was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church, a New Boston volunteer fireman, and enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing cards.

Survivors include his wife, Arlene Mulzer; two sons, Dennis Mulzer and Michael Mulzer, both of Evanston; a daughter, Donna Mulzer of Columbus, Ind.; two stepgrandsons; a brother, William Mulzer of Evanston; and two sisters, Selma Hagerdon of Troy, Ind., and Cornelia Mulzer of Louisville.

Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church in Evanston. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Church cemetery in Evanston. Full military rites will be conducted by St. Meinrad Legion. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 to 10:15 a.m. Wednesday at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City, Ind. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. John Building Fund or Lutheran Hour.

Clara 'Jean' Everett
21 July 2001

HATFIELD, Ind. -- Clara "Jean" Everett, 83, of Hatfield died Thursday, July 19, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville. The Mackey, Ind., native was a homemaker and member of Bethel Church in Hatfield. A daughter, Norma Stanley, died in 2000.

Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Roy Everett; a son, Charles Henry Benton of Evansville; a daughter, Geneva Fark of Evansville; a stepdaughter, Gayla Everett of Indianapolis; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Delores Arendell of Summerville, Ind.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, Ind. Burial will be in James Parker cemetery in Hatfield. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Bethel Church.

Rose Gray Lawson
21 July 2001

CANNELTON, Ind. -- Rose Gray Lawson, 72, of Cannelton, formerly of Hawesville, died Thursday, July 19, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Cannelton native was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Hawesville and of VFW Post 2939 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed bingo and euchre. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bill Shadwick, in 1966; her second husband, Sherill Lawson, in 1983; and a son, Carl Shadwick, in 1991.

Survivors include four sons, Tom Shadwick of Decatur, Tenn., Cletus Shadwick of Lewisport, Charlie Shadwick of Hawesville and Michael Shadwick of Tucson, Ariz.; eight daughters, Delma McManaway, Barbara Laslie and Mary Jo Taylor, all of Hawesville, and Dorothy Reynolds and Ruth Greer, both of Tell City, Ind., Kay Haycraft of Lewisport, Becky Riley of Cannelton and Bessie Ramsey of Derby, Ind.; 26 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a brother, Marian Gray of Tell City; four sisters, Martha Carpenter of Lincolnton, N.C., Mildred Riley of Lewisport, Shirley Perkins of Miami and Barbara Eganlauf of Pemberton, N.J.; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Immaculate Conception Church in Hawesville. Burial will be in Serenity Hills in Hawesville. Visitation is after 2 p.m. today and until 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Gibson & Son Funeral Home in Hawesville. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Immaculate Conception Church.

Evelyn Baur

TELL CITY, Ind. -- Evelyn Baur, 78, of Tell City died there Thursday, July 19, 2001, at Oakwood Healthcare Campus. The Perry County, Ind., native retired in 1984 from General Electric Co. in Tell City after more than 30 years and enjoyed quilting, ceramics, gardening and animals, especially birds. Her husband, Victor Baur, died in 1998.

Survivors include three sons, Richard L. Baur and Michael N. Baur, both of Tell City, and Mark L. Baur of Austin, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and a brother, Floyd Alvey Jr. of Tell City.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City chapel. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery in Tell City. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Alzheimer's Association.

Deanna Kelley

TELL CITY, Ind. -- Deanna Kelley, 57, of Tell City died Monday, July 16, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Heath System. The Tell City native was the Perry County public health nurse for 13 years and co-chairman of Perry County M.S. Group. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, a 1962 Tell City High School graduate and a 1966 graduate of University of Evansville School of Nursing.

Survivors include a son, Timothy Kelley of Tell City; a daughter, Stacey Kelley of Louisville; her mother, Helen Kress of Tell City; and a brother, Doug Kress of Tell City.

Services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery in Tell City. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City. Prayers will be said at 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Perry County Home Health.

Lorraine M. James

TELL CITY, Ind. -- Lorraine M. James, 80, of Tell City died Sunday, July 15, 2001, at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon, Ind. The Chicago native worked at Douglas Aircraft during World War II, was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and enjoyed crafts, displaying butterflies and writing poetry. She was known as the "Cookie Lady" and enjoyed baking, sharing her homemade cookies and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Robert W. James Sr.; four sons, Robert W. James Jr. of Yorkville, Ill., Patrick M. James of Salem, Ind., and Dennis J. James and Paul E. James, both of Tell City; three daughters, Mary Ellen Richards and Deborah Ann Maus, both of Chicago Heights, Ill., and Susan C. Toppel of Highland, Ind.; five grandchildren; a great-grandson; a brother, Frank Hauber of Chicago; and a sister, Evelyn Klein of Burbank, Ill.

Services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City, Ind. Burial will be in Holy Cross cemetery in St. Croix, Ind. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City chapel. Prayers will be said at 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Paul Catholic Church.

Preston Earl Wint
14 April 1999

TELL CITY - Preston Earl Wint, 76, of Tell City died Monday, April 12, 1999, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City. He was born in Perry County, Ind., retired from General Electric Co. in Tell City on April 18, 1987, after 40 years and was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ in Tell City. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose 1424 for 50 years and was founder of the Old Timers Game and horseshoe pitching facility. He contributed to area athletics as a member of the Tell City Grays and Tell City High School sports; was a baseball announcer for the American Legion and Tell City High School; and was a member of the Football Chain Gang.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Frankie Ziegelgruber Wint; two sons, Tom Wint of New Albany, Ind., and David Wint of Southfield, Mich.; a daughter, Ruthanne Burkhart of Plainville, Ind.; and five grandchildren.

Services are at 11 a.m. Friday at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery in Tell City. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. A service will be conducted by the Loyal Order of the Moose 1424 at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to either Evangelical United Church of Christ or the charity of the donor's choice. Memorial contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Teresa Agnes Blandford
2 February 1999

Teresa Agnes Blandford, 82, of Rockport, Ind., formerly of West Louisville, died Monday, Feb. 1, 1999, at her daughter's home. She was born in Daviess County, attended Mount St. Joseph Academy and retired as a stem operator from General Electric Co. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in St. Joseph and attended St. Bernard Catholic Church in Rockport for the past five years. She enjoyed collecting antiques, flower gardening and being with her grandchildren. Her husband, Joseph Paul Blandford, died in 1993.

Survivors include three sons, Joseph P. Blandford Jr. of Owensboro, David W. Blandford of St. Louis and Randall L. Blandford of West Louisville; a daughter, Linda A. Daming of Rockport; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Irene Hagerman of Evansville.

Services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Raphael cemetery in Daviess County. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to either St. Bernard Catholic Church Building Fund, 547 Elm St., Rockport, IN 47635; St. Alphonsus Catholic Church Building Fund, 7950 Cummings Road, Owensboro, KY 42301; or Alzheimer's Disease-Sanders-Brown Center on Aging, 101 Sander-Brown Building, University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY 40536-0230. Eleanor C. Smith
26 April 1999

Eleanor C. Smith, 88, of Madison, Ind., formerly of 2224 Carter Road, Owensboro, died Sunday, April 25, 1999, at Clifty Falls Rehabilitation Center in Madison. She was born in Daviess County, was a homemaker and was a member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church in Owensboro. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Henry Smith, in 1974; and her second husband, Charles Jenkins, in 1988.

Survivors include a son, Charles Bruce Smith of Madison; and three grandchildren.

Services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Rosehill cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is after 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society, 2229-A New Hartford Road, Owensboro, KY 42303. Memorial contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.
