GARY, Ind. - Theodore Rorer, 83, of Gary died there Friday, Oct. 12, 2001. The Owensboro native retired from Inland Steel as a stationary fireman, attended Baptist Church and was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Golda L. Rorer; a daughter, Shirley Duran of Gary, Ind.; three grandchildren; three brothers, Casper Rorer of Texas, John Livers of DeMotte, Ind., and Edward Livers of Missouri; and a sister, Ina Bartlett of Owensboro.

Services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Roy D. Bauman

ROCKPORT, Ind. - Roy D. Bauman, 78, of Rockport died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System from a stroke. The Rockport native was a retired claims deputy for the state of Indiana. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 254, Lakewood Country Club, Ex-War Prisoner Organization, Evansville Chapter of the Society for Barber Shop Quartet Singing and was a World War II Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Betty Bauman; a son, Fred Bauman of Lebanon, Ohio; a daughter, Jane Ann Francisco of Columbus, Ind.; three granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.

Services are at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Rockport, Ind. Burial will be in Sunset Hill cemetery in Rockport. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 10:15 a.m. Monday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Holy Cross Lutheran Church.

Genora Wright

ROCKPORT, Ind. - Genora Wright, 81, of Rockport died Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Richland, Ind., native was a homemaker. Her husband, Charles Wright, died in 1996.

Survivors include a son, Charles M. Wright of Richland; a daughter, Billie Ayer of Grandview, Ind.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Opal Mae Parker of Bradenton, Fla.

Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport. Burial will be in James Parker cemetery in Hatfield, Ind. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Charles William 'Bill' Calhoun

HIGHLAND, Ind. - Charles William "Bill" Calhoun, 64, of Highland, formerly of Owensboro, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at Porter Memorial Hospital in Valpariso, Ind. The Curdsville native retired from Walsh & Kelly Construction Co. as a cement finisher, was a Catholic and a member of Cement Mason Local No. 165.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Elizabeth Suzanne Calhoun; four sons, William Calhoun and Tim Calhoun, both of Griffith, Ind., Joe Calhoun of Portage, Ind., and Greg Calhoun of Highland; two daughters, Marian Calhoun of Maryland and Melissa Peters of Griffith; seven grandchildren; five brothers, J.W. Calhoun of Henderson, Nev., Jim Calhoun and Tom Calhoun, both of Owensboro, Donnie Calhoun of Las Vegas and David Calhoun of Arkansas; five sisters, Martha Wurth of Paducah and Pat Greenwell, Dolores Roberts, Nancy Chappell and Darlene LeMaster, all of Owensboro; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Owensboro. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Prayers will be said at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Make-A-Wish Foundation or a favorite charity.

Lou Etta Rice

GLOBE, Ariz. - Lou Etta Rice, 71, of Globe, formerly of Dale, Ind., died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, from heart failure. The Dale native was a member of Dale United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star and graduated from Dale High School in 1948. She played professional baseball and softball with the Arizona Ramblers, was an educator for 29 years at Globe High school and served in the Air Force from 1949 to 1951.

Survivors include three brothers, Tyrus Rice of Dale, Vernon Rice of Salinas, Calif., and William Rice of Newburgh, Ind.; four nephews and five nieces; 16 great-nephews and great-nieces; two aunts; and two cousins.

Private services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fuller Funeral Home and Crematory, Dale chapel. Burial will be in Dale cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Deaconess Hospital, St. Joseph's Hospice.

DERBY, Ind. - Karen D. Button, 57, of Derby died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, at Perry County (Ind.) Hospital in Tell City, Ind. The Carson City, Mich., native was a homemaker and enjoyed crafts and computer games.

Survivors include her companion, James Harris of Derby; two sons, Russell Roberts of Bay City, Mich., and Douglas Lyons of Derby; three daughters, Judy Hammond of Baton Rouge, La., Rhonda Ramirez of Bay City and Michelle Knapp of Shephard, Mich.; three stepsons, Herman Button Jr. of Cannelton, Ind., Earl M. Button of Shephard and Arnold Button of Mount Pleasant, Mich.; two stepdaughters, Carolyn Wilmot of Tell City and Debbie Button of Goshen, Ind.; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; three brothers, Rex Ebnit of Sanford, Mich., Delance "Butch" Alward of Alma, Mich., and Terry Ebnit of Riverdale, Mich.; and two sisters, Shirley Roberts of New Mexico and Beverly Ebnit of Texas.

Services are at 11 a.m. EST Tuesday at Huber Funeral Home in Tell City. Burial will be in Lilly Dale cemetery. Visitation is after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Multiple Sclerosis Foundation or Lilly Dale cemetery.

Rosalee T. Goodwin

RICHLAND, Ind. - Rosalee T. Goodwin, 73, of Richland died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at her home from cancer. The Chrisney, Ind., native was a homemaker. Her husband, Robert Goodwin, died in 1978.

Survivors include a son, Robert Goodwin of Grandview, Ind.; three daughters, Kathy Coomes of Hatfield, Ind., Penny Naegele of Richland and Peggy Sue Goodwin of Eureka, Ind.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six sisters, Lillian Reisz, Mary Smith and Revalee Davis, all of Rockport, Ind., Nila Smith of Newtonville, Ind., and Emma Rose Wildt and Veneta Laphart, both of Boonville, Ind.; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport. Burial will be in James Parker cemetery in Hatfield. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Vista Hospice.

TELL CITY, Ind. - Judy A. Birchler, 56, of Tell City died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, at her home from cancer. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Jerry Birchler; four sons, Scott Birchler of Owensboro, Kirk Birchler of Evansville and Brett Birchler and Dion Birchler, both of Tell City; a daughter, Leah Al-Abed of Newburgh, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; five brothers, Terry Owen of Chicago, Alan Owen of Avon, Ind., Bill Owen of Jasper, Ind., and Mark Owen and Donnie Owen, both of Tell City; and a sister, Jane Schroeder of Georgetown, Texas.

Services are at 1 p.m. EST Saturday at St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery in Tell City. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City. Prayers will be said at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to American Cancer Society.

Melvin Lee Goatee

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Melvin Lee Goatee, 64, of Terre Haute died Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, at his home. The Daviess County native retired from construction work with S & G Excavating Co. after 20 years and was a member of Hall Street Baptist Church. He enjoyed competing in Demolition Derbys and working on old Ford trucks.

Survivors include his wife, Reba Williams Goatee; a son, Kelvin Goatee of Owensboro; five daughters, Loretta Pickens, Trina Lynn Weger, Connie Sue Fields, Teresa Bennett and Lavana Bailey, all of Terre Haute; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Arthur Goatee of Spottsville, Charles W. Robinson of Sebree and Larry J. Goatee of Owensboro; and four sisters, Margie O'Neill Poiles, Louise Powers and Linda Hill, all of Owensboro, and Joann Bell of Evansville.

Services are at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Claudina C. Goffinet

TELL CITY, Ind. - Claudina C. Goffinet, 87, of Tell City died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, at her home. The Troy, Ind., native owned and operated Goffinet Furniture and Appliance Store in Tell City from 1937 to 1975. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Oblates of St. Benedict and Tell City Senior Citizens. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, August A. Goffinet, on Oct. 20, 1999; a son, Ralph Bernard Goffinet; and a daughter, Mary Boze.

Survivors include five sons, Adrian Goffinet of Apopka, Fla., Paul E. Goffinet and John Goffinet, both of Tell City, Allen Goffinet of Fort Hood, Texas, and David M. Goffinet of England; a daughter, Joyce Greenwood of St. Meinrad, Ind.; six grandsons; seven granddaughters; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services are at 10 a.m. EST Saturday at St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery in Tell City. Visitation is from 2 to 9 p.m. today and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City. There will be a combined prayer and Daughters of Isabella service at 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to American Heart Association.

Bryan Gerlach

FULDA, Ind. - Bryan Gerlach, 24, of Fulda died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, in Troy, Ind., from injuries suffered in an auto accident. The Owensboro native graduated from Heritage Hills High School in 1995 and Nashville Automotive Diesel School in 1996. He was an auto mechanic at Cochenour Chrysler Plymouth Jeep Dealership in Tell City, Ind., and a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Fulda and Knights of Columbus in St. Meinrad, Ind. He enjoyed professional wrestling.

Survivors include his parents, Paul and Sharon Gerlach of Fulda; grandmothers, Amy Gerlach of Tell City and Ethel Tate of Cannelton, Ind.; a brother, Nick Gerlach, at home; a sister, Stephanie Klem of St. Meinrad; a nephew and a niece; and several uncles and aunts.

Services are at 10 a.m. EST Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 8 to 9:15 a.m. at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City. Prayers and Knights of Columbus services are at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to a favorite charity.
