ROCKPORT, Ind. - Glenna Jankin, 79, of Rockport died there Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at Miller's Merry Manor. The Hatfield, Ind., native worked in the amusement business for 30 years and retired as a cook from Spencer County (Ind.) Law Enforcement in 1993.

Survivors include a son, Sheldon "Sonny" Tharp of Rockport; and a sister, Vernell Wood of Newark, Ohio.

Services are at 11 a.m. Friday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport. Burial will be in Sunset Hill cemetery in Rockport. Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday and after 8 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Lillian Snyder

TELL CITY, Ind. - Lillian Snyder, 80, of Lake City, Fla., died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, at her home. The Hawesville native was a homemaker. Her husband, Justin Snyder, died June 24, 1981.

Survivors include a daughter, Sonya Bloom of Orlando, Fla.; a grandson; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Conrad Keown of Hammond, Ind.; and two sisters, Agnes Wagner of Evansville and Opal Cheek of Hawesville.

Services are at 11 a.m. EST Thursday at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City, Ind. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic cemetery in Tell City. Visitation is after 9 a.m. EST Thursday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to a favorite charity.

Beulah F. Meece

RICHLAND, Ind. - Beulah F. Meece, 93, of Richland died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Evansville from pneumonia complications. She was a member of Richland United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir. She was a charter member of Ebenezer Home Economics Club, member of the Richland and Boonville senior citizens and former president of Hatfield Senior Citizens. She enjoyed singing, playing guitar and spending time with her family. Her husband, George Meece Sr., died in 1991.

Survivors include two sons, William Earl Meece of Huntingburg, Ind., and George "Junie" Meece Jr. of Chrisney, Ind.; a daughter, Diane Faye Unfried of Boonville, Ind.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services are at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, Ind. Burial will be in Garden of Memory cemetery in Gentryville, Ind. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 8 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Good Samaritan Nursing Home.

Grace M. Poehlein

TELL CITY, Ind. - Grace M. Poehlein, 84, of Indianapolis, formerly of Tell City, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, at Hoosier Village Health Care in Indianapolis. The Owensboro native and her husband founded the first public accounting and tax service business in Tell City in 1946. She graduated from Tell City High School, was a member of National Honor Society, and was a lifelong member of Tell City's First Baptist Church, where she held many offices. Her husband of 37 years, Ralph Poehlein, died April 17, 1990.

Survivors include two brothers, Edmund Buchser of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and William J. Buchser of Evansville; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 2 p.m. EST Saturday at First Baptist Church in Tell City. Burial will be Sunday in Greenwood cemetery in Tell City. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. EST Saturday and from noon to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to First Baptist Church.

Craig N. Williams

ROCKPORT, Ind. - Craig N. Williams, 24, of Rockport died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System from suffocation. The Owensboro native was a bartender, attended St. Bernard's Catholic Church and was a member of Sons of the American Legion Post 254.

Survivors include his parents, Larry and Diane Williams of Rockport; his grandfather, Ernie Williams of Rockport; his grandmother, Faeanne Pruden of Evansville; and a sister, Angie Ayala Williams of Huntingburg, Ind.

Services are at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport. Burial will be in Sunset Hill cemetery in Rockport. Visitation is from 1 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Prayers will be said at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

John Robert Moore
5 December 2001

ROCKPORT, Ind. - John Robert Moore, 58, of Rockport died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System from cancer. The Goshen native was owner-mechanic of John's Moore's Automotive Inc. in Patronville, Ind., worked at Retiki Coal Mines as a mechanic for 25 years and was recognized several times for his Christmas lighting on Booth Avenue in Owensboro. A son, Jeff Moore, died in 1997.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Diane Moore; a son, Robert Moore of Rockport; a daughter, Lisa Moore of Owensboro; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Roy Moore of Evansville, Larry Moore of Dixon, Mo., and Gary Moore of Grandview, Ind.; and three sisters, Patricia Stepro and Brenda Wead, both of Grandview, and Virginia Wheatley of Huntingburg, Ind.

Services are at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport. Burial will be in New Hope cemetery in Newtonville, Ind. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Beatrice M. Schoenenberger

TELL CITY, Ind. - Beatrice M. Schoenenberger, 89, of Tell City died there Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, at Beverly Health Care. The Tell City native was a homemaker. She graduated from Tell City High School in 1931 and was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. Her husband of 46 years, Lloyd Schoenenberger, died April 9, 1983.

Survivors include six nephews; and two nieces.

Services are at 11 a.m. EST Saturday at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery in Tell City. Visitation is after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Paul Catholic Church.

Ada Helen Boyken Youngson

PRINCETON, Ind. - Ada Helen Boyken Youngson, 79, of Princeton died there Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, at Gibson General Hospital. The Island native retired from the township's Assessor's Office after 17 years, was a member of Columbia General Baptist Church and the last charter member of Veterans of Foreign Wars 1147 Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, John Youngson; a son, John David Youngson of Laurel, Md.; two daughters, Judy Youngson of Laurel and Elyse Carolyn Kirby of Princeton; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Services are at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Columbia White Church in Princeton. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton.

Garland Weber

TELL CITY, Ind. - Garland Weber, 66, of Bedford, Ind., formerly of Tell City, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at his home from cancer. The Jackson County, Ind., native drove for Foster Brothers Trucking for several years and retired in 1998 from Gerald Dauby Trucking due to illness. He was a member of Millersburg Baptist Church, a volunteer firefighter in several areas and enjoyed woodworking. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Chiquita Quillen.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Frances Henson Weber; four daughters, Jeanie Eades of Bedford, Marcia Moncrief of North Vernon, Ind., Debra Wegner of Lafayette, Ind., and Lisa Henry of Brownstown, Ind.; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Martha Wemiller of Seymour, Ind.; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 1 p.m. EST Saturday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City chapel. Burial will be in Lilly Dale cemetery in Gatchel, Ind. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. EST today and after noon Saturday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Bloomington Hospice or Lilly Dale cemetery.

Douglas L. Bright

TELL CITY, Ind. - Douglas L. Bright, 86, of Tell City died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, at Woodmont Health Campus in Boonville, Ind. The Killeen, Texas, native retired from A & H Trucklines in 1972 and was a Pentecostal minister for 42 years. He pastored Park Place Mission in Evansville for 14 years and was a missionary to Mexico for 20 years. His wife of 57 years, Julia Wicks Bright, died Feb. 15, 1995.

Survivors include six daughters, Faye Bright Bailey of Nashville, Joan Diane Pearson of San Francisco, Linda French of Paramount, Calif., Karen Kenagy of Kansas City, Mo., Lana Bright Higgins of Columbia, S.C., and Denise Mullen of Tell City; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, DeWayne Bright of Fort Myers Beach, Fla., and Billy Bright of Oakland, Calif.; and two sisters, Ruth Corley of Eugene, Ore., and Alberta Allen of New Albany, Ind.

Services are at 10 a.m. EST Tuesday at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City. Burial will be in Selvin cemetery in Lynnville, Ind. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Council of Agency Childrens Fund.

Harold Glenn

CANNELTON, Ind. - Harold Glenn, 76, of Cannelton died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, at Beverly Health Care in Tell City, Ind., from emphysema complications. The Cannelton native graduated from Cannelton High School and retired from Can-Clay Corp. in Cannelton after 40 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a member of First United Methodist Church in Cannelton and enjoyed antiques, auctions and raising horses. His wife, Gertrude Shadwick Glenn, died in 1998.

Survivors include three sons, Harold Lee Glenn and John David Glenn, both of Cannelton, and Danny Joe Glenn of Troy, Ind.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, William "Pooner" Glenn of Cannelton; and two sisters, Cecil Kincaid and Edna Hubbs, both of Tell City.

Services are at 11 a.m. Friday at Huber Funeral Home, Cannelton chapel. Burial will be in New Cliff cemetery in Cannelton. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to First United Methodist Church.
