EVANSVILLE - Leonard Thomas Williams, 67, of Evansville died at 10 p.m., Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at his home. He was a member of the Henderson Christadelphian Ecclesia.

Survivors include three daughters, Elissa Early and Janetta Boarman, both of Owensboro, and Pamela Bean of Madisonville; a son, David Leonard Williams of Tell City, Ind.; his mother, Ruby E. Williams of Henderson; a brother, Richard O. Williams of Bowling Green; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home in Henderson. Terry Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Ridgewood cemetery in Spottsville. Friends may call after 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Henderson Christadelphian Ecclesia Bible School.

Mary Anna (Stallings) Godsey

EVANSVILLE - Mary Anna (Stallings) Godsey, 86, of Evansville died Friday, May 28, 2004, at Bethel Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. Godsey was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and the Quilting Club. She was formerly a member of Wings of Shasta Camping Club. She enjoyed flower gardening and quilting. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy P. Godsey in 1993; and a son, Gary L. Godsey in July 2003.

Mrs. Godsey is survived by son Mike Godsey and wife, Carol of Evansville, son Don Godsey and wife, Kathy of Evansville, son Ken Godsey and wife Renee of Jefferson City, Mo.; daughter-in-law, Barbara Godsey of Weslaco, Texas; grandchildren, Sabrina Bellino, Jim Godsey, Jeff Godsey, Jay Godsey, Susan Godsey, Kevin Godsey, Jennifer Jones, Michelle Biggerstaff and Jason Godsey; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Lois of Owensboro; and brother, Paul Douglas of Leitchfield.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2004, at St. Stephen Cathedral, 614 Locust St., Owensboro. Entombment will be at Resurrection Catholic cemetery in Owensboro. Friends may call Monday, May 31, 2004, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Alexander North Chapel and Tuesday, June 1, 2004, from 9 a.m. until service time at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

Fred Nunnelly Sievers

EVANSVILLE - Fred Nunnelly Sievers, 82, of Evansville died Sunday, June 6, 2004 at VNA Hospice Center in Evansville. He was born in Panther on Jan. 12, 1922. He was the son of Frederick Luther Sievers, a country doctor, and Madie (Meece) Sievers, a schoolteacher. Mr. Sievers graduated from West Louisville High School in Kentucky in 1939. He served two tours of duty in the U.S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific. He later served as a first lieutenant in the Army Reserve. He graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1949 with a bachelor of arts degree in journalism.

Fred Sievers worked at newspapers in Owensboro and Newport News, Va., before joining The Evansville Press in 1951. He became a general assignment reporter, writing stories throughout the Tri-State. Later he wrote about county government and the courts. In 1970 he was named Indianapolis bureau chief for The Evansville Press. He was recognized as one of the foremost authorities on Indiana state law. He retired from The Evansville Press in 1980, but continued writing the weekly garden column he began for The Evansville Press in February 1969. After the newspapers changed ownership in 1986, he wrote the column for The Evansville Courier and then The Evansville Courier & Press, when the newspaper's name changed in 1999. His last column was published on May 23, 2004.

He was a member of the Holly Society of America (Three Rivers Chapter), Garden Writers Association, Tri-State Azalea Society, Southwestern Indiana Master Gardeners Association, Willard Library Park Committee and The Friends of Willard Library.

Fred received numerous awards honoring his achievements throughout his career. These included the First Amendment Award from the Indiana State Bar Association in 1978 and the Sigma Delta Chi Award for "Distinguished Service to Journalism" from the Society of Professional Journalists on Nov. 6, 1982. He was also awarded the James Bethel Gresham Award in 1967 from The Evansville Bar Association. This was to acknowledge "Promotion of the people's understanding of the law." He received a first place award from the Indianapolis Press Club on October 21, 1995, for his work at The Evansville Press. On Oct. 21, 1995, he received The Joseph C. McDaniel Award for the Holly Society of America for "Outstanding contribution and dedicated service to the Great Rivers Chapter." In 1971 he was awarded the Eugene J. Cadou Memorial Award from Indiana UPI for outstanding reporting. He received the Indiana Medical Association Journalism Award in 1968. On Nov. 15, 1981, a proclamation was made honoring Mr. Sievers for "contributions made to the educational, political, business, and commercial health of our region" from David L. Rice, president of Indiana State University in Evansville (University of Southern Indiana) and Southern Indiana Higher Education, Inc. issued by Roland M. Eckels. In 1986 at DePauw University he was inducted into the Indiana Journalism Hall of Fame by the Society of Professional Journalists. In 1965 he was named to a National Panel for the American Assembly program of Columbia University. at Harriman, N.Y.

During his newspaper career Mr. Sievers authored many series of articles on a wide array of diverse topics. These included Medicare, birth control and the funeral industry. He appreciated and excelled at the craft of writing. Fred's interest in gardening began as a hobby. However, he soon grew to be a recognized authority and writer on the subject.

Mr. Sievers was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Billie Moore Sievers; and his brother Norbert Sievers. He is survived by his daughter, Arlene Moore Sievers of North Olmsted, Ohio. She is a librarian at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. He is also survived by his nephew, Mark Sievers; and a great-nephew, Stanley Sievers of Nicholasville.

Services will be held 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 10, at Alexander Funeral Home, North Chapel, officiated by Chaplain LeRoy Dilger with entombment at Oak Hill Mausoleum. Friends may call Wednesday, June 9, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to VNA Hospice Center located at 610 East Walnut St., Evansville, IN 47708 or Evansville Zoo Guild at 2421 Bement Ave., Evansville, IN 47720, or Indiana Chapter of the Nature Conservancy Group, 1505 North Delaware St., Suite 200, Indianapolis, IN 46202.

Tracy Ann (Metzger) Marksberry

EVANSVILLE - Tracy Marksberry, 42, of Evansville passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2004, at St. Mary's Medical Center. Tracy was a homemaker and avid collector.

Tracy is survived by husband Steven Marksberry of Evansville; children Zachary, Chelsea, Jacob and Joshua Marksberry; her parents, Ralph and Rita Metzger of Hatfield, Ind.; brothers Steven Metzger and his wife, Diana, of Owensboro, Randall Metzger and his wife, Laurie, of Chandler, Ind., and Tom Metzger and his wife, Deanna, of Greenfield, Ind.; three nieces and four nephews; and many very good friends. Tracy was preceded in death by a sister, Teresa Gail Metzger; and grandparents, George and Thelma Tevault and Frank and Viola Metzger.

Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Friday, June 18, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., in Evansville. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may visit from 2 to 8 p.m. today, June 17, at Browning Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Spina Bifida Association of Indiana.

Wyman Lee Wedding

EVANSVILLE - Wyman Lee Wedding, 57, of Evansville passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at St. Mary's Medical Center. Wyman was a member of the Painters Local 156 where he served as business manager from 1981-90. He was the general representative of the Painters International from 1990-2002. Wyman presently served as the business manager and secretary/treasurer for the Painters District Council 91. He was the former vice president of the Indiana Building Trades and Construction Council. Wyman was a member of the Tri-State Woodcarving Club, the Eureka Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Hadi Shrine.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jill Kathleen (Wagner) Wedding; a son, Donald Stuart Wedding and a daughter, Angela K. Wedding, all of Evansville; five grandchildren, Wyman Lee Wedding, Jeffrey Joseph Haury, Donald Eugene Wedding, Jacob Charles Maury and Stuart Lee Wedding; a brother Darrel Wedding and his wife Sue of Chandler, Ind.; two sisters, Beverly Wedding and her husband, David, of Santa Claus, Ind., and Mary Rigsby and her husband, John, of Kansas City, Kan. Wyman is preceded in death by his parents, Stuart G. and Mary E. Wedding; and two brothers, Kenneth and Wayne Wedding.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 9, at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 South Hebron Ave. in Evansville with the Rev. Robert Nall officiating. Visitation will be today from 1 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Park Lawn cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or PATCH (Painters Allied Trades Children Hope).

Charles Neel Harrison

EVANSVILLE - Charles Neel Harrison, 79, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Hospital in Evansville. He was born June 6, 1925, to the late Elmer Neel and Beulah Winkler Harrison in Daviess County. Charles served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, retired from Texas Gas Transmission Land Department in 1985 with more than 35 years of service, and was currently employed by RWRA as a contract landman. He was a member of First Baptist Church, the Maverick Sunday school class and the Hardee's Coffee Bunch and was a Kentucky Colonel and Mason. He loved the Kentucky Wildcats, Atlanta Braves and his collie, Shelby. He was preceded in death by a sister, Minnie Hudson, in January 2002.

Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Gaye Reynolds Harrison; two sons and their wives, the Rev. Mike Harrison and Judi of Clarksville, Tenn., and Kevin Mark Harrison and Anna of Jackson, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Angie, Brad, John, James and Joanie; and three great-granddaughters.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at Glenn Funeral Home chapel. Burial will immediately follow in Elmwood cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Kentucky Baptist Homes for Children or Owensboro-Daviess County Humane Society.

EVANSVILLE - Michael D. Godsey, 55, of Evansville died Friday, Aug. 20, 2004, at his residence.

Mike is survived by his wife, Carol Godsey of Evansville; daughter, Michelle Biggerstaff and her husband, David of Evansville; son, Jason Godsey and his wife, Angela of Evansville; grandchildren, Samantha, Tabetha, Isaac, Noah and Travis, all of Evansville; brother, Ken Godsey and his wife Renee of Jefferson City, Mo.; brother, Don Godsey and his wife, Kathy of Evansville; brother-in-law, Bill Voetberg of Grand Rapids, Mich.; sister-in-law, Diane Ashley and her husband Fred of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; sister-in-law, Barbara Godsey of Texas; nieces, nephews and cousins.

In celebration of the life of Mike Godsey, friends may visit on Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Alexander North Chapel in Evansville and on Monday, Aug. 23 from 10 a.m. until service time at Salem United Church of Christ. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 23 at Salem UCC, officiated by the Rev. David Peterson.

Henry Kenneth Bergman

Henry Kenneth "Kenny" Bergman, 76, went to be with his Lord on September 11, 2010 at Deaconess Hospice Care.

He was a W.W. II buff, anything to do with aviation. His hobbies were telling jokes, small aircraft flying, cars, and fishing. Kenny had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed meeting people and working with the public. He made a lot of friends in his lifetime. Kenny worked as a salesman for Auto Body Supply for 15 years, as a service advisor for Cooke Chevrolet and Kenny Kent. He also worked for Tri-State Lighting before retiring in 1992. His first job at age 13 was working in a small ice house chipping 50 pound ice blocks into 25 pound blocks so they would fit in the old iceboxes. He was in the last class at Mechanic Arts School that received certificates for aircraft mechanics. Kenny graduated from Central High School.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Anita Jost Bergman; son, Keith Bergman and his wife Michelle; granddaughter, Kendra; grandsons, Daniel, Scott, and ITS Kyle who is stationed at Corry Station Naval Base in Florida.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mayme Jeffers Bergman; brother, Bob; and sons, Bryan and Kurt.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, 626 First Avenue. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 15 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Fr. Eugene Schroeder officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery.

We have lost our loving husband, friend, father, grandfather, and teacher. We will miss him dearly.

Memorial contributions may be made to Deaconess Hospice Care. We appreciated them so much.
