Delta M. (Ellis) Nall

EVANSVILLE - Delta M. (Ellis) Nall, 78, of Evansville died at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at her residence. Mrs. Delta Nall was a homemaker and had worked for the Evansville Store until it closed. She was a member of Vann Avenue Baptist Church, where she served as secretary and taught Sunday school classes and Vacation Bible School classes. Delta enjoyed working in the yard, gardening and canning. She loved her children, grandchildren and was a supporting role to her husband, Robert. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Evelyn (Rich) Ellis; a son, Stephen A. Nall, in 1969, a granddaughter, Christy Riley, in 1975 and a brother, Harold Ellis, in 1998.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert A. Nall, pastor of Vann Avenue Baptist Church of Evansville; two daughters, Debby K. Riley and her husband, Robert J., of Speedway, Ind., and Joy Norman and her husband, Ray, of Evansville; a sister, Helen Boyken of Owensboro; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Ellis of Philpot; five grandchildren, Scott A. Riley and his wife, Lana, Lori M. Norman, Matthew D. Riley, Adam R. Norman and Kari A. Riley; and several nieces, nephews and cousins

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today at Vann Avenue Baptist Church, 2608 S. Vann Ave. Burial will be in Station Baptist Church cemetery on Highway 81 South, Island. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missions, through Vann Avenue Baptist Church, 2608 S. Vann Ave., Evansville, IN 47714. Boone Funeral Home, East Chapel, 5330 Washington Ave., Evansville, is handling arrangements.

Amelda 'Joan' Maples

EVANSVILLE - Amelda "Joan" Maples, 63, of 1122 East Blackford Ave., Evansville, died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005, at home. She was born in Hartford to the late Hubbard Stewart Maples and Gladys Lewis Maples on March 20, 1942. She retired from Kmart Corp. in Evansville and was a Methodist.

Survivors include a brother, Dalton Maples and his wife, Barbara, of Beaver Dam; a sister, June Maples of Evansville; a nephew and two nieces; and five great-nephews and a great-niece.

Services are at 3 p.m. today, Sept. 18, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ed Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery in Hartford. Visitation is after 10 a.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hartford Baptist Church, 415 Liberty St., Hartford, KY 42347.

Mary Martine Bristow Lynxwiler

EVANSVILLE - Mary Martine Bristow Lynxwiler, 92, of Evansville passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005, at Little Sisters of the Poor in Evansville. Mary was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mary was preceded in death by her husbands, James W. Crask, Edward Bristow and Harold Lynxwiler; and two sons, James R. Crask and Charles E. Bristow.

She is survived by her three daughters, Cora Preske and her husband, Tom, Rose Layman, and Bonnie Phipps and her husband, Virgil, all of Evansville; two sons, Joseph Bristow and his wife, Delores, of Owensboro and Vincent Lynxwiler and his wife, Linda, of Evansville; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, at Little Sisters of the Poor. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, at Little Sisters of the Poor. There will be no visitation or services at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, 626 First Ave., Evansville. Burial will be in Mater Dolorosa cemetery in Owensboro. Memorial contributions may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, 1234 Lincoln Ave., Evansville, IN 47714.

Tom Day

EVANSVILLE - Tom Day, 62, of Evansville for three years and formerly of Newburgh, Ind., died Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, in a car accident. Tom was born in Morganfield on Jan. 31, 1942. He was the firstborn son of James and Maria Day, both of whom preceded him in death. Tom retired from Alcoa in 1993 after 30 years of service in the finishing and pack and ship departments. Tom was formerly a member of St. John Parish in Newburgh. He was a 1960 graduate of St. Vincent Academy in Waverly. Tom also enjoyed watching his sons play football and wrestle along with watching his daughter swim and play basketball. Tom was a member of the Castle High School Booster club and was very involved during the years of 1979 through 1989. He was president of St. Bernard's Booster Club. Tom also loved to travel, play golf, boat, cook, play with his dog and be with his family. Tom, Rita and family have wonderful memories of trips and outings that they shared over the years. Tom was a very proud and loving father to his sons and daughter, and a caring and loving husband to his wife.

Tom is survived by his wife of 43 years, Rita Day of Evansville; a son, Gregory T. Day and wife, Myra, of Evansville; a son, Eric J. Day and wife, Kelly, of Henderson; a son, Craig B. Day of Newburgh; a daughter, Tonja Day of Memphis, Tenn.; a sister, Wilma Jean Wolfe of Morganfield; a brother, David Day of Henderson; a brother, Phil Day of Morganfield; several nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Jon, Josh, Jessica, Mitchell, Meghan, Makaylah, Erica and Andrew Day; and his favorite dog, Pepper.

A Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. John's Catholic Church cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday, Nov. 2, from 2 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 6 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, Newburgh Chapel, and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until Mass time at the church. Steven Wayne Gilmore

EVANSVILLE - Steven Wayne Gilmore, 44, of Evansville, formerly of Owensboro, died Monday, Sept. 5, 2005, at his home. He was born on Jan. 31, 1961, in Owensboro. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed restoring old cars. He was preceded in death by his father, Sherman Gilmore, on Feb. 17, 1994.

He is survived by a son, Steven Wayne Gilmore II of Hartford; a daughter, Stephanie Gilmore of Utica; his mother and stepfather, Mary Gilmore Thomason and Lonnie Thomason of Henderson; four grandchildren, Stephen Dylan Mayfield, Alexas Marie Snell, Steven Wayne Gilmore III and Austen Kyle Gilmore; two brothers, Alfred (Julie) Gilmore of Owensboro and Robert E. (Pamela) Gilmore of Waverly; a half sister, Patty Thrasher of Knottsville; several nieces and nephews; his best friend, Ron Whitman; and a very dear friend, Doris Parrish of Evansville.

Services are at 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept., 9, at James H. Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Owensboro. Burial is in Elmwood cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is after noon Friday at the funeral home.

Louella Wells Cassels
08/29/2005

EVANSVILLE - Louella Wells Cassels, 83, of Evansville, formerly of Greenville, graduated to Heaven on Aug. 27, 2005, from the home of her daughter and son-in-law. She was born to Claud and Bertha Lovell on June 2, 1922. She was a member of Boeke Road Baptist Church in Evansville and was retired from Southern States Cooperative in Greenville. Louella taught Sunday school and was the church pianist for many years at Carter Creek Baptist Church outside of Greenville, where she and her family made their home. Louella was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 32 years, Charlie Wells, in 1975; by husband, Claude Cassels, in 1994; her daughter, Joyce Lee Wells, in 2001; a brother, Alton Lovell; and two nephews.

Louella is survived by her daughter, Sandra Russ and her husband, Gayle E. Russ; three grandchildren, Edward Lee Russ and wife, Debbie, Timothy Micah Russ and wife, Marty, and Shannon Faye Knox and husband, Jesse; great-grandchildren, Stephen Russ, Adam Russ, David Russ, Bobbie Libbey and husband, Ryan, Andrew Russ, Jared Russ, Leah Knox, Benjamin Knox, and triplets Anna Knox, Abigail Knox and Daniel Knox; a sister, Dathna Fleming and husband, Shellie; and a nephew, Jerry Fleming and wife, Elsie.

The funeral service will be conducted by her two grandsons, Pastor Edward Russ and Pastor Timothy Russ, with participation by Jesse Knox and the great-grandsons. Services will be at Boeke Road Baptist Church on Tuesday, Aug. 30, at 10 a.m., with visitation before the service beginning at 9 a.m. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill cemetery outside of Greenville, with a viewing and service at 1:30 p.m. inside the church at the cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Boeke Road Baptist Church Building Fund. Condolences may be made online at https://www.mem.com. Anna B. Shrout

Anna B. Shrout, 79, of 1765 W.C.R. 300 South, Rockport, Ind., died Thursday, March 24, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born April 4, 1925, to the late Wallace and Mamie Moore Brown of Bath County. She had worked at General Electric and most recently as a waitress at Tyler Restaurant in Rockport. She was a longtime member of Southside Wesleyan Church and she loved to read.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter T. Shrout, who died Jan. 31, 1985.

Survivors include two sons, Steve Shrout of Rockport and Larry Shrout and his wife, Tanya, and their pet dogs, Daisy and Anna, of Rockport; three grandchildren, Samantha Janosa and her husband, Laz, Chad Atkison and his wife Chelsey, Stevie Ann Arant and her husband, Andrew; four great-grandchildren, Braydon, Bailey, Samuel and Brynlee Kate; four brothers, Wallace Brown Jr. and Bobby Brown, both of Paris, Ky., J.D. Brown of St. Augustine, Fla., and Donald Ray Brown of Indianapolis; four sisters, Lena Davis of West Liberty, Christine Miller of Lexington, Kay Cain of Paris, Ky., and Louise Cole of Winchester; one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Rose Shrout of Winchester; also several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Glenn Funeral Home with visitation from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Evergreen Memory Gardens in Paris, Ky. Carolyn Faye (England) Cunningham

Carolyn Faye (England) Cunningham, 66, of Jacksonville, Fla., died peacefully Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005, at St. Luke's Hospital. She was born July 28, 1939, in Bloomington, Ill., and raised in Louisville. She graduated from Shawnee High School and was a member of Order of the Eastern Star in Louisville. Carolyn had also resided in Galena, Ind., Gallatin, Tenn., and with relatives in Daviess County and Grayson County.

Family members include her loving husband of 43 years, Alton Cunningham; her children, Todd (Karen) Cunningham of Jacksonville, Fla., Dana Carole (Vince) Hale of Jacksonville and Eric Brad (Deana) Cunningham of Atlanta; eight grandchildren, Kristen and Bryan Cunningham and Peter and Katherine Hale, all of Jacksonville, and Zachary, Alexander and Julia Cunningham, all of Atlanta; a brother, Ira W. England of Louisville; and two sisters, Patricia Atwell of Louisville and Janet Tooley of Owensboro. Her grandson, Joey Cunningham, preceded her in death.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 27, and on Wednesday, Sept. 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. EST in the Chapel of Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. EST Thursday, Sept. 29, in the Parkwood Baptist Church, 7900 Lone Star Road, in Jacksonville, with Pastor Larry Weaver officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenlawn cemetery. Services are under the direction and care of Quinn-Shalz, A Family Funeral Home, Jacksonville Beach, FL (904) 249-1100.

James M. Holland

James M. Holland, 66, of 3177 W. Eureka Road, Rockport, Ind., died Friday, Aug. 5, 2005, at his home. He was born Oct. 28, 1938, in Fred, Texas to Willie and Elmer Yawn Holland. He was the former owner of Owensboro Planing Mill and retired from the Army Reserve. He was a member of Gospel Mission Church in Rockport, Boy Scouts of America, Order of the Arrow, and board member of Buffalo Trace Council in Evansville. He was a Kentucky Colonel and enjoyed Scouting and camping.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Carrie Wells Holland; two sons, William Holland and his wife, Shelley, of Owensboro and Dorman Holland and his wife, Stacey, of Utica; grandchildren, Ashley, Jessica, Rachel, Emily, Natalie and Will Holland; a brother, Henry Levi Holland, and his wife, Shirley, of Lumberton, Texas; a sister, Yvonne Vaughn, and her husband, Hollis, of Marshall, Texas; three nieces and three nephews.

Services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Tim Coomer officiating. Entombment will be in Rosehill cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 8 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Rickey Wayne Farber

Rickey Wayne Farber, 43, died Oct. 27, 2004, at his home in Leavenworth, Ind. He was born in Louisville on Dec. 18, 1960. He was a native of Owensboro. He was a veteran and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela Farber; and two daughters, Rachel, 11, and Rebecca, 9. He is also survived by his parents, Glover and Sandra Priar of Owensboro; two sisters, Bethany Priar Taylor of Owensboro and Stacey Priar Boynes of Sterling Va.; a niece and a nephew.

Visitation will be at the Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon, Ind., on Friday, Oct. 29, from 4 to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. Memorial services are at noon.

Drury 'Bill' Christian

Drury "Bill" Christian, 82, of Newburgh, Ind., formerly of Owensboro, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, at VNA of Evansville. He was born Sept. 18, 1922, in Daviess County and retired as a carpenter from Carpenters, Foremen & Superintendent after 33 years of service. He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II, a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed NASCAR, politics and reading. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Hould in 2004.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Martha M. Christian; two sons, Mark Christian of Henderson and Tony Christian of Newburgh; a daughter, Paula Kern of Richmond, Va.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joe Christian of New Kensington, Pa., and Paul Christian of Owensboro; and two sisters, Mary Drue Jones of Owensboro and Patty Butler of Washington.

Services are at noon Monday at Blessed Mother Catholic Church with the Rev. Freddie Byrd officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery with full military honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 696. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Monday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family wishes that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Blessed Mother Building Fund, 601 East 23rd St., Owensboro, KY 42301.
