Funeral services for Gene Arnold Johnson, 62, of Lexington, will be held at 3 p.m. E.D.T. Monday, June 9, at Grayson Funeral Home, New Washington, with burial in Barnes Cemetery. He died Thursday, June 5, 2003, at Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Scott County, retired employee of Cummins Engine in Columbus and a member of Vienna Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, the former Janice Gotcher; two sons, David Johnson, Scottsburg and Michael Johnson, Lexington; a daughter, Lisa Johnson, Jeffersonville; a stepdaughter, Julia Sumner, Edinburgh; three stepsons, Timothy Hadley, Valdosta, Ga., Douglas Hadley, Pensacola, Fla. and Christopher Hadley, Plainfield; two sisters, Volena Hall, Nabb and Maureena Yeager, Henryville and eight grandchildren.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 4 to 9 p.m Sunday, June 8, and after 9 a.m. Monday.
Elbert Courtney Jr.
age 56; retired respiratory therapist
Funeral services for Elbert Courtney Jr., 56. of Jeffersonville, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, at Scott Funeral Home, Main Street Chapel, with cremation to follow. He died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was a retired respiratory therapist for Clark Memorial Hospital and a volunteer for LifeSpring in Jeffersonville.
Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Ater, Henryville and Mary Beth Combs, Charlestown and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her wife, Cathy Ann Courtney and parents, Elbert Courtney Sr. and Alberta Courtney.
Visitation at the funeral home will be after 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Tracy Lynn Galloway
age 32; of Marysville
Funeral services for Tracy Lynn Galloway, 32, of Marysville, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 19, at Resthaven Funeral Home, Louisville, with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. She died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at her home.
Denita Howell
age 60; of New Albany
Funeral services for Denita Howell, 60, of New Albany, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, at Garr Funeral Home, Sellersburg, with burial at Forrest Grove Cemetery, Borden. She died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002.
She was the former Shirley Denita King and was the owner and manager of Crestline Realty since its inception. She was a member of Willey's Chapel United Methodist Church and a pianist for 30 years. She was a member and past president of the Southern Indiana Realtors Association, Louisville Board of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Howell; three daughters, Becky McCoy, Charlestown, Cara DiCarlo, Georgetown, Ky., and Kristy McEwen, Clarksville; her mother, Helen King, New Albany; two brothers, Gary King, Cromwell, Ky., and Richard King, New Albany; and six grandchildren.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 4 to 8 p.m. this evening, Tuesday, Dec. 3, and from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Willey's Chapel United Methodist Church, Borden.
Cecelia Mary Skaggs
age 70; Clarksville native
Cecelia Mary Skaggs, 70, a native of Clarksville, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, at Jewish Hospital, Louisville.
Survivors include her husband, Charles R. Skaggs; three sons, Steve and Mike Skaggs, Clarksville, and Gary Skaggs, Wis.; a daughter, Sondra Smith, Corydon; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were private.
Marshall Lee Faulkenburg
age 15; Floyd Central HS student
Funeral services for Marshall Lee Faulkenburg, 15, of Greenville will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Generations Funeral Home, 33096 Ballard Lane, New Albany. He died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services.
He was a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend. He was a sophomore at Floyd Central High School and a member of the Highlander Congregation of Jehovah's Witness.
Survivors include his mother, Jill Sharp, Greenville; his father, Leon Faulkenburg, Pekin; two sisters, Audrey Faulkenburg and Kit Repine; two brothers, Dillon Faulkenburg and Cody Repine; his grandparents, Jim and Linda Banet, Floyds Knobs, Sherry Faulkenburg and Roger Roach, Borden, and Wavie C. Sharp, San Antonio, Texas; his great-grandparents, Katie Regot, Mildred Redford and Martha Faulkenburg; his beloved rat terrier and best friend Max; and many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Marshall Faulkenburg.
Visitation at the funeral home will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Dec. 3 and from 1 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4.
Burial will be private.
Donald Humphrey
age 44; of New Albany
Funeral services for Donald Humphrey, 44, of New Albany, will be held at noon, Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 Spring Street, New Albany.
He died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at his home.
Naomi M. Tyler
age 97; of New Albany
Funeral services for Naomi M. Tyler, 97, of New Albany, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, at the Market Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Home, New Albany, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. She died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at Autumn Woods Health Campus, New Albany.
She was a native of Georgetown, a retired secretary from Prudential Insurance Company, a past matron of the Order of Eastern Star 340 and a member of Centenary United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Betty Tyler Ogg, Havertown, Pa., and Orpha E. Tyler, New Albany.
Visitation at the funeral home will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4.

Max O. Mindel
age 87; of Elizabeth
Funeral services for Max O. Mindel, 87, of Elizabeth, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Resthaven Funeral Home, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. He died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at Green Valley Care Center, New Albany.
Among the survivors include his wife, the former Louise Davis.
Daniel Edward Smith
age 59, Navy veteran
Funeral services for Charles Daniel Edward "Danny" Smith, 59, of Elizabeth, will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, at Pyke-Calloway Mullineaux Chapel, New Albany, with burial in Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Madison. He died Saturday, November 30, 2002, at Veterans Hospital, Louisville.
He was a native of Columbus, Ohio, an engineer with Mactec, Louisville, a Navy veteran and a member of Christian Assembly Church of Lousiville.
Survivors include his former wife, Judy Smith, New Albany; a son, Charles Daniel Edward Smith II, Elizabeth; three brothers, Jim, Rick and Tim Smith; a stepbrother, Donny Ice; two sisters, Lori and Becky Smith; a stepsister, Pam Beucher; and two grandchildren, Robert Pearson and Nicole Smith.
Visitation at the funeral home will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4.
Gladys E. Richard
age 79; of Pekin
Funeral services for Gladys E. Rickard Gladys E. Rickard, 79, of Pekin, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Pekin United Methodist Church, with burial in Olive Branch Cemetery, Pekin. She died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at Jewish Hospital, Louisville.
She was a life resident of Washington County, a member of Pekin United Methodist Church and the church's women's group. She served in the Polk and Pekin PTO, held offices in the Pekin Subordinate Grange and Pamona Grange, was a homemaker and retired as head cook of East Washington School Corporation.
Survivors include four sons, Roger and Tim Rickard, Pekin, Ronald Rickard, Borden, and Garry Rickard, Reedsburg, Wis.; four daughters, Donetta Phillips and Beth Brown, Pekin, Roxann Starrett, Salem, and Deana Green, Palm Bay, Fla.; two stepsons, Ervin Rickard, Floyds Knobs, and Ivan Rickard, Eaton, Ohio; three stepdaughters, June Freels, Oxford, Ohio, Wilma Baumann, Pekin, and Donna Huffines, Salem; a brother, Wilmer Campbell, New Albany; 38 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two nephews; and four nieces. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Rickard; a stepdaughter, Carolyn Marshall; and a brother, Irvin Campbell.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Dawalt Funeral Home, and after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Bellwood C. Adams
age of Nashville, Tenn.
Funeral services for Bellwood C. Adams of Nashville, Tenn., will be held at 1 p.m. today, Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Marshall-Donnelly-Combs Funeral Home, Nashville, Tenn., with burial at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany, at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4. He died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at Alvin York Veterans Facility, Murfreesboro, Tenn.
He was formerly of Indiana, a master carpenter and worked for E.I. DuPont, then later for Earl Embry & Sons in New Albany. He was a World War II veteran, and served in the European Theater including four major battles. While living in Indiana he was a member of the Jefferson Lodge of Masons, Kiwanis Club, Radio Club and VFW. He was also a member of Vine Street Christian Church in Nashville.
