Pearl Hoten Ash
age 93; of Corydon
Funeral services for Pearl Hoten Ash, 93, of Corydon, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Swarens Funeral Home in Ramsey, with burial in the Milltown Cemetery. She died Sunday, June 1, 2003, at Green Valley Care Center in New Albany.
She was born May 23, 1910, at Depauw, Ind., to the late Otto and Cora Pinaire Wiseman. She was a homemaker and member of The Milltown United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty (Edward) Hoffman; sisters, Mary Arnold, Pauline Lang, Corydon, and Elsie Smith, Corydon; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 13 great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Forest Hoten and Elmo Ash.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Mary Margaret Knapp, 83, of Corydon, died Sunday, June 1, 2003, at Harrison County Hospital. There will be no visitation.
J.M. 'Milt' Hartlauf
78; of Utica
Funeral services for J. M. "Milt" Hartlauf, 78, of Utica, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, at Arch L. Heady and Son, Hikes Point Home, 4109 Taylorsville Road, Louisville, Ky., with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery, Louisville. He died away Friday, July 30, 2004, at his residence.
He was a native of Louisville, owner of the former Sure Bake Auto Painting, founder of Kentuckiana Auto Storage Pool in 1961, former race director of Sportsdrome Speedway, Salem Speedway, Fairgrounds Motor Speedway and American Speed Association (ASA) and a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Jeffersonville.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Mardelle Howell Hartlauf; three daughters, Beverly Davis and husband, Jim, Louisville, Sherry Cheever and husband, Lance, Jeffersonville and Carrie Poindexter and husband, Charles, Jeffersonville; son, Milt Hartlauf, Jr. and wife, Kim, Louisville; tow sisters, Evelyn Link, Louisville and Lucille Harris, Bridgeton, Mo.; six grandchildren, Kim Brewer, Bryan Neuner, Jeremy and Eric Hartlauf, Katie and Mallory Cheever; eight great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Linda Howell, Clarksville and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4 and resumes after 9 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 5.

Marie Edna Dixon Tegart

A funeral Mass for Marie Edna Dixon Tegart of New Albany, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of New Albany, with burial in Holy Trinity Cemetery. She died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at her home in New Albany.
She was born in Jeffersonville the daughter of Edward and Helen Dixon. She was married to the late Floyd County Judge, the Honorable Paul Joseph Tegart, who died in 1981. Living on Main Street in New Albany most of their lives, Judge and Mrs. Tegart were active community members. She belonged to the Democratic Women's Club, St. Mary's Altar Society, New Albany-Floyd County Library Board, Jefferson County, Kentucky Classroom Teachers and Daughters of Isabella.
She had a lifelong respect and love for education as she earned bachelor and master degrees from Indiana University. She instilled in her children and grandchildren the value of learning each and every day. Her modeling of reading, writing and travel adventures set an excellent example for family and all who knew her. She was a teacher in the Catholic and public Kentuckiana schools for over 30 years.
The Tegarts were members of the old Holy Trinity Catholic Parish.
Survivors include her 11 children, daughters, Patricia Marie Tegart Brunni, Joseph Paul Tegart (Doris), Margaret Ellen Tegart Deatrick, Robert Howard Tegart (Elisa), William Peter Tegart, James Phillip Tegart (Eva), Barbara Rae Tegart Warman (Jerry), Mary Antoinette "Toni" Tegart Broderick (Mike) and Catherine Edna Tegart; sons, Edward Dixon Tegart and John Owen Tegart; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, the late Floyd County Judge, the Honorable Paul Joseph Tegart; brothers, Joseph Dixon and Robert Dixon and grandson, Charles Joseph Deatrick.
Visitation will be at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 East Spring Street, New Albany, from 4 to 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, Aug. 3 and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4. A prayer service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, at the funeral home.

L. Mary Hess Garcia
64; library volunteer
Funeral services for L. Mary Hess Garcia, 64, of Corydon, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 W. Spring St., New Albany, with cremation to follow. She died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at her home.
She was a native of Louisville, a graduate of Loretta High School in Louisville and an active member of Community Unity Church in Corydon. She was a library volunteer, a Cub Scout den leader and a political volunteer for Congressman Wayne Allard of Colorado. She was a former employee of Stitzel-Weller Distillery, Louisville and the U.S. State Department in Mexico City. She was currently a tour guide for the Corydon capital, courthouse and governor's house.
Survivors include her husband, Francisco 'Pancho' Garcia; a son, William Francis Garcia; granddaughter, Caitlin Mary Rose Garcia; two sisters, Elizabeth Buchheit and Kay Quire and a brother, Jay Hess.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Davison.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6.
Pattie Jean Rowe
73; ICI American retiree
Funeral services for Pattie Jean Rowe, 73, of Jeffersonville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, at Chapman Funeral Home, Clarksville, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. She died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at Baptist Hospital East, Louisville.
She was a native of Jeffersonville, a retired ground maintenance worker at ICI Americas, Charlestown and a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 35, Jeffersonville.
Survivors include four sons, James Blair, Anthony Blair and Glen Blair, all of Clarksville and Vaughn Blair, Cincinnati, Ohio; three brothers, Loran and Robert Mitchell, Clarksville and Bud Mitchell, Jeffersonville; two sisters, Dee Dee Finch and Betty Dickman, Clarksville; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3.
Robert 'Sam' L. Hublar Sr.
69; of Elizabeth
Funeral services for Robert "Sam" L. Hublar, 69, of Elizabeth, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, in the Chapel at Generations Funeral Home, 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, with burial to follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery
in Lanesville. She died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
He was born July 23, 1935, in Floyd County, to the late Lawrence and Edna (Henriott) Hublar and retired from New Albany Motors. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the
Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post 123 in Corydon. He was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lanesville.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Virginia Johnson Hublar; sons, Robert L. Hublar Jr. and wife, Donna and Lawrence "Rusty" Hublar; daughter, Dawn E. Hublar; grandsons, Jason, Josh and Ethan; brother, William Hublar and sisters, Mary Cunningham, Edna Carley and Anna Howard.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Bertha Jenkins, 86, of New Albany, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 East Spring Street, New Albany, with burial to follow in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. She died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at Providence Nursing Home, New Albany.
She was a New Albany native and retired seamstress for the old H.A. Seinsheimers in New Albany.
Survivors include her sons, Jerry D. Jenkins, New Albany, Dennis P. Jenkins, Greenville and Patric A. Jenkins, New Albany; daughters, Katherine J. Smith and Pamela Jenkins Pope, both of New Albany; sisters, Ruth Brubeck and Stella "Tilly" Spray, both of New Albany; brothers, James Dailey, Calif., Robert "Bud" Dailey, Teddy Dailey and Frank Dailey, New Albany and Karl Dailey, Clarksville; 17 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul "Peck" Jenkins and son, David W. Jenkins.

Funeral services for Evelyn R. Pate Very, 87, of New Albany, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. She died Friday, July 30, 2004, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services.
She was a member of the Floyd County Democrat Women's Club and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Very, Charla McKnight and Lana Smith; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial service for Cecil Gilbert Coulter, 80, of Crandall, was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon. He died Thursday, July 29, 2004, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Louisville. The body was cremated.
