75; of New Albany
A memorial service for Donald E. Sappenfield, 75, of New Albany, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at Trinity United Methodist Church in New Albany. He died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004, at his home.
He was a native of Ft. Dodge, Iowa and a self-employed insurance broker with ANSAC Inc. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in New Albany. He was also a member of Floyd County Kiwanis Club and Masonic Lodge in Fredericksburg, Ind. He was an Air Force veteran.
Survivors include his wife, the former Shirley Sue Payne; a son, David O. Sappenfield, Pomeroy, Wash.; a daughter, Anne Sappenfield, Louisville; a stepson, Stephen Schulz, New Albany; two brothers, George Sappenfield, Mesa, Ariz. and Robert Sappenfield, Sacramento, Calif.; four sisters, Susan M. Sappenfield, Palmyra, Verna M. Hicks, Auburn, Calif., Ruth Bega, Floral City, Fla. and Lou Bursewitz, Missouri; and a granddaughter, Jamie Schulz, Corydon.
Market Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice and Palliative Care of Southern Indiana.
Efrain Couvertier
50; of Bronx, N.Y.
Efrain Couvertier, 50, of Bronx, N.Y., died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, at Calvary Hospital, New Rochelle, N.Y.
Survivors include his mother, Angelina Couvertier; two brothers, Eufemio Couvertier, Jr. and Reuben Couvertier; three sisters, Mary Anne Ochoa, Yvette Martinez and Betty Woodrum and seven nieces and nephews.
Visitation at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Rd., New Albany, will be from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15. The body will be cremated.
Herschel E. "Tiger" Barksdale Jr.
age 64; of Jeffersonville
Funeral services for Herschel E. "Tiger" Barksdale Jr., 64, of Jeffersonville, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at Coots Funeral Home, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. He died Monday, Aug. 25, 2003, at his home.
He was a retired production employee for Colgate Palmolive Company.
Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Lynne Barksdale, Louisville; a brother, David Barksdale, Jeffersonville and his former spouse, Bonnie Featheringham.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Abbie M. Barksdale.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Aug. 27 and after 9 a.m. Thursday.

Joyce Marie Coley
age 65; of Jeffersonville
Funeral services for Joyce Marie Coley, 65, of Jeffersonville, will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, August 29 at Coots Funeral Home, with cremation to follow. She died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003.
She was a native of Louisville and a phlebotomist for Methodist Hospital.
Survivors include three sons, Michael A. Coley and Kevin Coley, both of Jeffersonville and Kenneth W. Coley, York S.C.; a daughter, Pamela S. Coley, Jeffersonville; a brother, Robert M. Waterman, El Paso, Tx.; three sisters, Carol Ann Jordan, Buffalo, Mn., Jeanette Totten, Sellersburg and Juanita Truman, Jeffersonville; two graddaughters, Brittnie L. Coley, Jeffersonville and Angel Hewitt, York, S.C.; and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert J. Waterman and Honora Potter.
Visitation at the funeral home will be held after 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 29.
Donald Paul Dalman
age 68; of Clarksville
Donald Paul Dalman, 68, of Clarksville, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003, at his home.
He as a native of Leeland, Mich. and retired design engineer for the Rollason Company, Winterpark, Fla.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Heard Dalman; a son, Mike Dalman, Grand Rapids, Mich.; four daughters, Julie Wells and husband, Jeff, Lakeland, Fla., and Sue Bennett and husband, Steve, Kathy Sherman and husband, Scott, and Kelly Wagner, all of Hasting, Mich.; a brother, Ted Dalman and wife, Jeanice, Donton, Mich.; a sister, Sandy Merrill and husband Ron, Hasting, Mich.; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
No visitation will be held. The body will be cremated.
A memorial service will be held at a later date with Chapman Funeral Home, Clarksville, in charge of arrangements.

Chester P. Hayes
age 73; Army veteran
Funeral services for Chester P. Hayes, 73, of Henryville, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Henryville, with burial in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery. He died Monday, Aug. 25, 2003, at his home.
He was a native of Sunfish, Ky., an Army veteran and a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. He was a member of Alcoholic Anonymous and has just celebrated this past May, 28 wonderful years of sobriety. He was retired from ICI Americas, Charlestown.
Survivors include six sons, George Hayes and wife, Barbara, North Vernon, Michael Hayes and wife, Mary, New Albany, Roy Hayes and wife, Violet, Pekin, John Hayes and wife, Connie, Henryville, Joseph Hayes and wife, Diane, Carnation, Wash. and William Hayes and wife, Patsy, Henryville; three daughters, Ann Worrall and husband, Will, Ala., Theresa Spicer, Phoenix, Ariz. and Patricia Sales and husband, Neil of Ga.; a brother, Warren Hayes, Sunfish, Ky.; five sisters, Catherine Grant, Vera Delaney, Edith Thornsberry, Alberta Roberts and Maude Zoubek; 21 grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett Hayes and Hallie Bright Hayes,
Visitation at R. D. Pyke Funeral Service, Henryville, will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Aug. 27. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.

age 49; of Clarksville
Christine G. Roberts, 49, of Clarksville, died Tuesday, August 29, 2003. The body has been cremated.
She was a native of Syracuse, New York, a teacher for Crawford County Schools and was involved with the School to Work Program.
Survivors include her husband, Orval Roberts; a special friend, Sassy Roberts, Clarksville; a daughter, Shawna Roberts, Clarksville; her mother, Elizabeth Grigg, Green Valley, Az.; her mother-in-law, Phyllis Howington, New Washington; a brother, Rick Grigg, Syracuse, NY.; a brother-in-law, William Roberts, New Washington and a sister-in-law, Robin Howington, New Albany.
She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Grigg.

August "Gus" Blumenstiel
57; of Georgetown
Funeral services for August "Gus" Blumenstiel, 57, of Georgetown, will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at Gehlbach and Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown, with burial in Wolfes Cemetery, Georgetown. He died Monday, Aug. 25, 2003, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services.
He was a native of Louisville, an employee of Keller Manufacturing Co. in Corydon and a former member of the Georgetown Town Board.
Survivors include his daughters, Lisa Wright, Palmyra, Angela Satterfield and Karen Blumenstiel, both of Taylorsville, Ky.; grandchildren, Taylor Nutgrass, Peyton Wright and Kyle Nutgrass; brothers, Jim Wilt and Robert Blumenstiel, both of Louisville, and Fred Blumenstiel, Corydon; and sister, Mary M. Long, Virginia Beach, Va.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, Aug. 27, and after 9 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at the funeral home.
Ruby L. Browder
82; of New Albany
A memorial service for Ruby L. Browder, 82, of New Albany, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, at Shrader Funeral Home, with private burial at a later date. The body was cremated. She died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services.
She was a native of Logan Co. Ky., a member of the Howard Chapel Baptist Church and the House of Ruth 5448.
Survivors include her sisters, Annie Owens, Repsie Sanders and Mary Slaughter; brother, Franklin Bailey; and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl E. Browder.
Visitation/wake will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at the funeral home.
