Alma Jean Kouns
age 81; of New Albany
Funeral services for Alma Jean Kouns, 81, a former resident of New Albany, passed away Sunday, Aug. 24, 2003, in St. Petersburg, Fla.
She was born in Holcomb, Mo., and moved to New Albany in 1977 from Calif. She was an active member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church and a volunteer in many local civic functions in New Albany. Her hobbies were gardening and traveling.
Survivors include her daughters, Sandra Faye Kossmann, Tierra Verde, Fla. and Barbara Ellen Kephart, Federal Way, Wash.; son, William Eugene Anderson, Moreno Valley, Calif.; sister, Marg Baldridge, Brosley, Mo.; step-son, Mike Kouns, Gaithersburg, Md.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Ernest "Bud" Kouns.
The body was cremated and scattered at sea and her soul is with Jesus. There will be no funeral service.

Margaret N. Winstead
age 77; of Lanesville
Funeral services for Margaret N. Winstead, 77, of Lanesville, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Gehlbach and Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown, with burial in Lanesville Protestant Cemetery. She died Monday, Aug. 25, 2003, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
Georgia Rose Garmon
age 77; of Barren County, Ky. native
Funeral services for Georgia Rose Garmon, 77, of Jeffersonville, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at Coots Funeral Home, with burial in Eastern Cemetery. She died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003, at Clark Memorial Hospital.
She was a native of Barren County, Ky. and a spooler operator for Reynolds Metals Co.
Survivors include two daughters, Shelvia Tedrow, Jeffersonville and Janet Canter, Hanover; three sons, James H. Whitaker, San Antonio, Texas, Clifton Whitaker, Kingman, Ariz., and Robert Whitaker, Clarksville; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Friday, Aug. 29 and after 9 a.m. Saturday.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the American Heart Association.
Ruth A. Banet Graviss
age 85; homemaker
Funeral services for Ruth A. Banet Graviss, 85, of Clarksville, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Clarksville, with burial in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Jeffersonville. She died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2003, at Clark Memorial Hospital.
She was a native of Floyds Knobs, a homemaker and a graduate of Holy Rosary Academy. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary Council 1348.
Survivors include two sons, Kevin L. Graviss, Georgetown and Kenton J. Graviss, Louisville; four daughters, Kimberly S. Becker, New Albany and Krista M. Dorsett, Karen A. Graviss and Kathleen E. Graviss, Clarksville; a brother, Leo A. Banet, Jr., Clarksville and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert A. Graviss.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today, Friday, Aug. 29, with a prayer service at 4 p.m. today.
Jamie Patrick Kelly
age 33; Navy veteran
Funeral services for Jamie Patrick Kelly, 33, of Clarksville, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Clarksville, with burial and military honors at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. She died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003, at the University of Louisville Medical Center.
He was a native of Clarksville, quality assurance inspector for Huntington Testing and Technology in Louisville and a Navy veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Dallas Rose Kelly; parents, Terrence and Mary Kelly; three brothers, Shaun, Tim and Kevin Kelly; a sister, Erin Kelly and nieces and nephews, Terry K. Leianu, Michael and Maresa Kelly, Cherilyn and Cherena Kaupu, Colt Peterson and Austin and Logan Erspalmer.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from noon to 8 p.m. today, Friday, Aug. 29, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. this evening at the funeral home. Visitation Saturday will be after 10 a.m.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Kentucky Organ Donors Association.
James Meeks
age 41; of Sellersburg
Funeral services for James "Jeff" Meeks, 41, of Sellersburg, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at Garr Funeral Home, with burial in Sellersburg Cemetery. He died Wednesday, Aug. 27.
Survivors include his father, Jim Meeks and his wife, Susan, Borden; mother, Bertha Lynch and her husband, Jim, Henryille; a son, Joshua Keith Meeks and his wife, Anna, Elizabeth; a daughter, Holly Browning and her husband, David, Sellersburg; a sister, Pam Booher and her husband, John, Memphis; step-brother, Randy Lynch, Henryville; step-sister, Abby Cox, Borden; maternal grandmother, Gracie Standridge, Clarksville; granddaughter, Emma; a nephew and a niece.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today, Friday, Aug. 29.
Donna S. Richardson
age 62; of Jeffersonville
Donna S. Richardson, 62, of Jeffersonville, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003, at her home.
She was a native of New Albany and was a nursing assistant at Clark Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Wall Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Deanna Thomas and Debra Blackwell, Jeffersonville and Denise Wilson, New Albany; her mother, Dortha Sample, Jeffersonville; a sister, Saundra Masingo, Mariba, Ky.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gilbert E. Sample.
Visitation at Scott Funeral Home, Main Street Chapel, will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2. The body will be cremated. No service will be held.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to WHAS Crusade For Children or the American Cancer Society.

Graveside services for Richard Darrell Turner Jr., infant son of Richard and Ashair Turner, Floyds Knobs, were held at 10 a.m. this morning at St. Mary of the Knobs Cemetery. He died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2003, at Clark Memorial Hospital.
Survivors other than his parents, grandparents, Daryl and Linda Banet, Floyds Knobs and Bobby and Sue Turner, Tompkinsville, Ky.; a brother, Jacob Turner and a sister, Kelsey Turner.
Kraft Funeral Home, Spring Street Chapel, was in charge of arrangements.
Suzanne Mary "Sue" Book
age 50; of Corbin, Ky.
Funeral services for Suzanne Mary "Sue" Book, 50, of Corbin, Ky., will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30., at Coots Funeral Home, with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. She died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003, at Samaritan Hospital, Lexington.
She was a native of Louisville and a bookkeeper/accountant for Corbin Class Co., Corbin.
Survivors include three brothers, Chris Book, Jeffersonville, John Book, Los Angeles, Calif. and Jeff Book, London, Ky.; a sister, Tammy Book, Spisak, San Diego, Calif. and several nieces and nephews.
Lawrence A. Jones
age 68; Air Force veteran
Lawrence A. "Larry" (Birdie) Jones, 68, of Clarksville, formerly of Knoxville, Tenn., died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2003, at his home following a brief illness.
He was a retired teacher and guidance counselor from Jeffersonville High School, a graduate of Western Kentucky University and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include two daughters, Jacki James, Smiths Grove, Ky. and Robin Loid, Bowling Green, Ky.; a brother, John James, Duncan, S. C.; seven grandchildren; two nieces and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Mary Catherine Jones.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, at Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of Southern Indiana, 634 E. Market St., New Albany.
The family will received friends Wednesday, Sept. 3, at Mynatt Funeral Home, 2829 Rennoc Rd., Knoxville, Tenn.
