David J. Higdon
age 81; World War II veteran
Funeral services for David J. Higdon, 81, of Jeffersonville, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, at Coots Funeral Home, Jeffersonville, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. He died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, at Norton Healthcare Pavilion, Louisville.
He was a decorated Army veteran of World War II and a retired postal clerk for the Jeffersonville Post Office. He was a member of Wall Street United Methodist Church and past master and secretary of Clark Masonic Lodge 40. He was past worthy patron of Bright Star Chapter 532, O.E.S. and a member of Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine Temple in Indianapolis and American Trapshooting Association.
Survivors include his wife, Trudy Roberts Higdon; three sons, David J. Higdon Jr., Wichita, Kansas, Dennis K. Higdon, Winter Park, Fla., and P. Dirk Higdon, Austin, Texas; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Philip Higdon and a granddaughter, Juliana Stacia.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 8.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Wall Street United Methodist Church or Kosair Children's Hospital Foundation.
William Ray Jones
age 84; World War II veteran
Funeral services for William Ray Jones, 84, of Clarksville, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10,. at Chapman Funeral Home, Clarksville, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. He died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, at Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Adair County, Ky., and a retired maintenance worker at Hettinger & Shuck Heating and Cooling in Louisville. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a 33rd degree Mason, a member of the Jeffersonville Masonic Lodge 340, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Optimist Club of Clarksville and Howard Park Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, the former Juanita Hanger; a son, Garry Jones, Clarksville; two sisters, Hazel Hobson, New Albany and Alene Wyatt, Clarksville and a brother, Robert Jones, Floyds Knobs.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Howard Park Christian Church, 450 W. Norwood Ave., Clarksville.
James P. Munk
age 59; contractor
Funeral services for James P. Munk, 59, of Henryville, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10 at Henryville First Baptist Church with burial in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery
in Otisco. He died Monday, Oct. 2, 2003 at his residence.
He was a native of Scott County, a member of Henryville First Baptist Church and he was employed as an excavating contractor for Munk Excavating.
Survivors include his wife, Dianna Adams Munk; his mother, Jane B. Goodwin Munk; three daughters, Pamela Davis and her husband Patrick, LaGrange, Ky., Yvonne Guthrie and her husband Chris, Henryville and Alana Cortie and her husband John, Sellersburg; a brother, Jerry Wayne Munk and his wife Judy, Zionsville; two sisters, Janice Furnish and her husband, Butch, Henryville and Joan Stone and her husband Steve, Texas; and five grandchildren, Christopher and Madelynn Davis and Jacqueline, Megan and Hunter Guthrie.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earl C. Munk.
Visitation at R.D. Pyke Funeral Home in Henryville will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 8, and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. Visitation will also be held at the church after 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral on Friday.

Kenneth Sauer Sr.
age 81; World War II veteran
Private funeral services for Kenneth Joseph Sauer Sr., 81, of Clarksville, will be held at Scott Funeral Home, Main Street Chapel, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. He died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, at his home.
He was a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., and a Navy veteran of World War II serving as a Chief Petty Officer. He was in the D-Day Invasion while serving on the Battleship Nevada. He was a former Clarksville Police Commissioner, a former member of the Clarksville Town Board and was was a retired printer and owner of Suburban Printers. He was a member of American Legion Post 35, Jeffersonville.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Elizabeth Sauer; two sons, Ken Sauer Jr., Clarksville and Bruce Sauer, Kuttawa, Ky.; a daughter, Karen Garrison, Clarksville and five grandchildren, Brian Garrison, Jeffersonville, Toby Northen, Fayetteville, N.C. and Nathan Sauer, Joey Sauer and Sarah Jane Sauer, Clarksville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Rose Anna Sauer.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8.

Father Dominic Manion
age 72; of Mt. St. Francis
A Mass of Resurrection for Rev. Father Dominic Manion, OFM Conv., 72, of Mt. St. Francis, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Mount St. Francis Chapel, with burial in Friars Cemetery. He died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, in Toledo, Ohio.
He took his solemn vow July 11, 1955, and his ordination, Feb. 21, 1960. He began his ministry as Associate Pastor of St. Anthony's Church, Clarksville and spent a major part of his ministry in the Southwest United States. He was known to many as a caring friend with a good sense of humor.
Visitation at the Chapel of Mount St. Francis will be after 2:30 p.m. Friday, with a Vigil service at 7 p.m..
Kraft Funeral Home, 708 E. Spring St., New Albany, is in charge of arrangements.
Nettie Marguerite Fetter
age 99; Marengo native
Funeral services for Nettie Margarite Fetter, 99, Zionsville, formerly of Jeffersonville, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, at Scott Funeral Home, Main Street Chapel, with burial in Eastern Cemetery. She died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003, at her home.
She was a native of Marengo and a lifelong resident of Jeffersonville until seven years ago when she moved to the Zionsville Meadows Retirement and Nursing Home. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Jeffersonville.
She was a retired clerk for Belknap Co., Louisville.
Survivors include a niece, Dolores McEuen, Indianapolis and great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Fetter and parents, Archie Stewart and Cordia Riley Fetter.
Visitation at Scott Funeral Home, Main Street Chapel, will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 8.
Kenneth B. Rutherford
age 89; of Anderson
Funeral services for Kenneth B. "Kenny" Rutherford, 89, of Anderson, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, with burial in Maplewood Cemetery. He died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at St. John's Medical Center.

Clyde O. Hinchmann Sr.
age of Indianapolis
Funeral services for Clyde O. Hinchmann Sr., of Indianapolis, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at Kraft Funeral Home, 2776 Charlestown Rd., New Albany, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. He died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, in Indianapolis.
He grew up in Tram, Ky., attended Betsy Lane High School and Pikeville College. Briefly he taught school in Floyd County. He always a Kentucky Wildcats fan and he always tried to help others with his financial advice and direction. He served in the Air Force and worked for Time Finance Co. for more than 30 years. He opened his own business, American Mortgage Co. in Louisville. He was a former member of Morton Memorial United Methodist Church and was a past member of Clarksville Optimist Club.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Hinchman; a son, C. O. Hinchman Jr. and wife, Marcia; a daughter, Linda C. Pack and husband, Robert; two brothers, Joe and David Hinchman; two sisters, Patricia DeRosset and Bonita Porter; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Georgia Hinchmann and a brother, Herbert Hinchman.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Community VNA Hospice, Fishers, Ind., which provided excellent care for the deceased over the last few months.
Louise Dold Murr Richards
age Sellersburg native
A memorial services for Louise Dold Murr Richards of Naples, Fla., formerly of Sellersburg, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Garr Funeral Home, Sellersburg. She died Aug. 22, 2003, in Naples.
She was born in 1923 in Sellersburg to Helen Weber Dold and Lionel Dold. She was a 1941 graduate of Silver Creek High School and graduated in 1944 from nurses training at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. In 1944, she married J. Bruce Murr, the longtime basketball coach at Silver Creek High School. She and her husband lived in many places throughout the Midwest, South and Alaska before returning to Sellersburg in 1976. Nearly everywhere she lived, she continued her nursing career serving in a variety of patent care, supervisory and teaching positions. She retired as the industrial nurse for Bluegrass Cooperage in Louisville in 1991.
They had four children, David, Paul and Steve Richards and Kathie Ellnor, all of New Albany. In addition to the four children, she has seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two great nieces.
Following the death of her husband in 1981, she re-met Joe Richards, originally of Sellersburg, at the Silver Creek High School reunion in 1987. She and Joe married and have been living in Naples, Fla., since 1991.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Dold and a sister, Kay Allen.
Visitation at the funeral home will be after 10 a.m. Saturday. The body was cremated with burial of ashes to be held in Sellersburg Cemetery
following the memorial service.
