Henry Sweets Faurest Jr.
67; retired attorney/bank consultant
Funeral services for Henry Sweets Faurest Jr., 67, of Jeffersonville, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8, at Scott Funeral Home North Chapel. He died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, at Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was a retired attorney and bank consultant for Professional Bank Services in Louisville. He was the president of the Clark County Chapter of the American Red Cross, Board of Directors for the Arts Council of Southern Indiana, Board of Directors for the Mary Anderson Center, Board of Directors for the Jeffersonville Family Fun Fest, Board of Directors for the Hughes Group Inc. and Board of Directors for the Farmers State Bank in Lanesville. He was also a veteran of the Kentucky Air National Guard.
Survivors include his wife, Cecile Blau; two daughters, Kristin Faurest and her husband, Greg Spencer, Budapest, Hungary and Brittany Blau, Louisville; a son, Brandon Blau and his wife, Jennifer, Sydney, Australia; his mother, Elizabeth Faurest, Louisville; two sisters, Susan Grubbs and her husband, William, and Ann Faurest, all of Louisville; a granddaughter, Savanna Blau, Sydney, Australia; and a grandson, Lance Faurest Spencer, Budapest, Hungary.
He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Sweets Faurest Sr.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, and from 9 a.m. until time of service, Friday, Oct. 8.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Clark County Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Barbara S. Peacock
66; of New Albany
Funeral services for Barbara S. Peacock, 66, of New Albany, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, at Kraft Funeral Home, Charlestown Road Chapel, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. She died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services.
She was a native of Macon, Missouri, longtime resident of LaPorte and an associate of Wal-Mart, Clarksville.
Survivors include three sons, Richard Parrott and wife, Sheila, New Albany, James Parrott and wife, Nan Hui, Independence, Ky. and Brian Parrott and wife, Beth, Henryville; a daughter, Sandra Messer-Harold and husband, Bill, New Albany; two sisters, Peggy Contstance, LaPorte and Ginger Dettwiler, Kenowsha, Wis.; a brother, Everett Michael Binder, LaPorte; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett "Buck" and Marguerite Binder.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8.
Joseph A. Stamm
80; of Fort Wayne
Funeral services for Joseph A. Stamm, 80, of Fort Wayne, Ind., will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8, at Our Lady of Good Hope, 7215 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne, Ind., with burial in the church cemetery. He died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004.
Visitation at Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne, Ind. will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7. A rosary service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8.
Harold James Ankrom Jr.
72; of Louisville
Harold James "Jim" Ankrom Jr., 72, of Louisville, succumbed to cancer after a long and courageous battle on Sept. 8, 2004, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services, surrounded by loving family members.
He was born Jan. 12, 1932 in Gibson County. He served in the United States Air Force for a four year stint, in the '50's, as an air traffic controller. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home to Louisville. A rugged individual for all his 72 years, he was virtually a jack-of-all-trades. He worked as a mail carrier, newspaper carrier, welder, car part delivery person, dry cleaner, auto mechanic and toward the end of his life, as both a stockperson at Sam's Club and an antique and collectibles dealer.
He was preceded in death by parents, Gerald and Lillian Zimmerman; brother, Jack Zimmerman; stepsister, Doris Willis; stepbrother, Jerry Zimmerman; son-in-law, Terry Jenkins and granddaughter, Lahoe Metzmeier.
He is survived by daughters, Deborah Oskins, Louisville, Deedra Ankrom, New Albany and Dianna Jenkins, Sellersburg, who was also his caregiver. Also surviving are sisters, Judy Harbin, Louisville and Janet Heichelbech, Mason, Ga.; stepsisters, Geraldine Woolsey and Betty Jones, Oakland City; grandchildren, Lea Stammerman and Chris Oskins, Louisville, Jennifer Rieger, Pewee Valley, Melissa Ankrom, Jeffersonville, Lisa Reed, Belgium, Jeff Jenkins, Livonia, Mich., Jessi Jenkins and Sokeya Jenkins, Sellersburg and his special great-grandson, Ean Rieger of Pewee Valley. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins and his beloved work family at Sam's Club on Preston Highway and church family at First Free Will Baptist Church.
He donated his body to the University of Louisville Medical School in the hope that his infirmities could help educate medical students regarding the effects of cardiac disease as well as the cancer than took his life.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, at the First Free Will Baptist Church, 4618 Poplar Level Rd., Louisville.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of Southern Indiana or the American Cancer Society.
Lola Clark
78; of Jeffersonville
Funeral services for Lola Clark, 78, of Jeffersonville, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, at Coots Funeral Home, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. She died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at Clark Memorial Hospital.
She was a native of Olive Hill, Ky. and retired from the dietary department at Clark Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, Donald M. Clark; a son, Joseph M. Clark, Salem; three daughters, Donna J. Collins, Cincinnati, Ohio, Suzette Kuntz, Clarksville and Arlene F. Tillett, Jeffersonville; a brother, Tommy Williams, Grayson, Ky.; two sisters, Thelma Smith, Anchorage, Alaska and Ruby Symzcah, Mentor, Ohio; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Oct. 5 and after 11 a.m. Wednesday.
Lucy Gray Johnson
95; housewife
Funeral services for Lucy Gray Johnson, 95, of Charlestown, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, at Pleasant View Baptist Church, Charlestown, with burial in Hibernia Cemetery. She died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, at Cal Turner Extended Care in Scottsville, Ky.
She was a native of Celina, Tenn., a housewife and a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Cecil Johnson, English and Fred Johnson, Scottsville, Ky.; a daughter, Zelda Hendrix, Scottsville, Ky.; 21 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
Visitation at the church will be after 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Grayson Funeral Home, Charlestown, is in charge of arrangements.
Hazel Burns Lutz
85; of Charlestown
Funeral services for Hazel Burns Lutz, 85, of Charlestown, will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, at Grayson Funeral Home, Charlestown, with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. She died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, following a long illness.
She was the daughter of the late Everett and Cloe Burns. She spent most of her adult life in Charlestown, graduating from Charlestown High School. She later married C. R. Lutz, a Charlestown native and they had one son, Danny R. Lutz, who was a star basketball player in the sports world.
She was preceded in death by her husband and son.
The Lutz family owned and operated the Ready-Mix Concrete Plant for many years. She participated in many organizations and excelled in bowling, earning many trophies. She was a member of Community Presbyterian Church, Charlestown.
Survivors include a sister, Ruby; two granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation at the funeral home will be after 1 p.m. Thursday.
Donna L. Ellenbrand
49; New Albany native
Funeral services for Donna L. Ellenbrand, 49, of Greenville, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, at Oak Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes, with burial in Edwardsville Cemetery. She died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, at Harrison County Hospital, Corydon.
She was the former Donna L. Graff, a native of New Albany and a housewife.
Survivors include her husband, Chuck Ellenbrand; a son, Micah Ellenbrand, Greenville; a daughter, Amelia Ellenbrand, Bloomington; a brother, David Graff, Corydon and a sister, Denise Guinn, Charlestown.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday.
Raymond T. Hoagland
79; of Charlestown
Funeral services for Raymond T. Hoagland, 79, of Charlestown, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, with burial in St. Michael's Cemetery, Charlestown. He died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, at Sellersburg Health & Rehab.
Visitation at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today, Friday, Oct. 1 and after 9 a.m. Saturday.
Betty Jane Rue
78; retired kindergarten teacher
Funeral services for Betty Jane Rue, 78, of New Albany, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 4, at Market Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. She died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, at Providence Retirement Home, New Albany.
She was the former Betty Jane Riddle. She was the director and a teacher at the old Riddle Kindergarten and was a member of Northside Christian Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Carol Riggins and husband, Darrell, New Albany, Connie Hodges and husband, KC, New Albany and Linda Cook and husband, Jerry, Floyds Knobs; a sister, Joan Priestly and husband, G.T., Richards, Texas; eight grandchildren, Mindy Johnson and husband, Steve, Kyle Riggins and wife, Kim, Derek, David and Tanner Cook and Cory, Kara and Matthew Hodges and three great-grandchildren, Sarah and Katherine Johnson and Nicholas Riggins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Rue, a son, David R. Rue and a brother, Lyon R. Riddle Jr.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3 and after 9 a.m. Monday.
