Funeral services for Victor Lee Davis, 90, of New Salisbury, were held at 1 p.m. today, Monday, Nov. 29 at Swarens Funeral Home, Ramsey, with burial in Woods Chapel Cemetery, Ramsey. Visitation at the funeral home was Sunday, Nov. 28 and after 9 a.m. this morning, Monday, Nov. 29. He died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004 at Harrison County Hospital, Corydon.

John Buhler Scheller

89; of Depauw

Funeral services for John Buhler Scheller, 87, of Depauw, were held at 10 a.m. this morning, Monday, Nov. 29 at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, with entombment in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. He died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004 at Harrison County Hospital, Corydon.

He was a native of New Albany, and retired from the military having spent eight years in the Army and 13 in the Air Force. He was a member of the First Armored Division, an Anzio-Beach head veteran of World War II and a member of the Musician's Union in Louisville for 25 years.

Survivors include his son, John Mark Scheller, Elkhart; a daughter, Erin Jane Timberlake, Depauw and two grandchildren, Jay Michael Timberlake and Devon Nicole Timberlake.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Buchheit Scheller.

Visitation was Sunday at the funeral home.

Charles 'Pat' Smith

53; of Corydon

Funeral services for Charles "Pat" Smith, 53, of Corydon, will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29 at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home, Corydon, with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Corydon. Visitation at the funeral home will be held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, Sunday, Nov. 28 and after 8 a.m. Monday. He died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004 at his mother's home in Corydon.

Anna Lee Dorman

89; Utica native

Funeral services for Anna Lee Dorman, 89, of Utica, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, at Coots Funeral Home, with burial in Utica Hillcrest Cemetery. She died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004 at her home.

She was the former Anna Lee Morrison, a native of Utica, a homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was the oldest member of the Utica Baptist Church and a member of the Dorcus Missionary Society of the church. She enjoyed cooking, reading and working with flowers.

Survivors include one son, George Lee Dorman; three daughters, Evelyn Romans, Helen Wesner and Ada Ingram; a niece and nephew who she and her husband raised and loved as their own children, James Boisseau and Jean Helen Roach; two sisters, Elenora Vance and Lola Mae Jarnigan; nine grandchildren, Vicki Haven, Stoy and Bruce Brandenburg, Dale, Anthony and Tim Thompson, Jackie James, Jack Smith and Aaron Dorman; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George H. Dorman; a son, Clyde Mitchell Dorman; grandson, John P. Smith; three brother, Louis Robert Morrison, Major Morrison and James Morrison and three sisters, Dorothy Lewis, Sara Bradley and Beulah Dorman.

Visitation at the funeral home will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Dec. 8 and after 9 a.m. Thursday.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Utica Baptist Church or VistaCare, New Albany.

Ola Thornton

83; Bell Award recipient

Funeral services for Ola Thornton, 83, of Jeffersonville, will be held at noon Thursday, Dec. 9, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1201 Locust St., Jeffersonville, with burial in Eastern Cemetery, Jeffersonville. She died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Jeffersonville.

She was a native of Rochester, Ky. She was active in community organizations, program assistant with Spring Hill School, adult sewing instructor at Greater Clark County Schools for five years, secretary of Community Action for five years, Nutrition Department of Clark County for six years, art and crafts assistant for senior citizens at Ken Ellis Building, director of Christian Education and secretary of S.E.D. Baptist Convention of Indiana. Her awards include the 1987 Bell Award Recipient with WLKY and 1990 Jump of Jeffersonville. She was a member of Little Floyd Missionary Baptist Church in Watson, a Sunday school teacher for 28 years, director of Vacation Bible School for 35 years, president of Zone 2 for 26 years and charter member of Deacons Wives of Jeffersonville Council for 32 years. She was a wonderful homemaker.

Survivors include a daughter, Ernestine Nunley; two sons, James S. Thornton-Boyd and Gregory E. Thornton; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She has a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation at the church will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Wednesday, Dec. 8.

Baity's Funeral Home in New Albany is in charge of the arrangements.

Thelma B. Kime

86; of New Albany

Funeral services for Thelma B. Kime, 86, of New Albany, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, at the Market Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann and Naville Funeral Homes, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. She died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services.

She was the former Thelma B. Apple, a native of Paoli, the retired owner of the Miller Dry Cleaners and a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her stepson, Nick Kime, New Albany; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Kime Sr.

Visitation at the funeral home will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9 and after 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 10.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to The Animal Rescue League.

Captain Robert J. Zoeller

84; U.S. Navy retiree

A funeral Mass for retired U.S. Navy Capt. Robert J. Zoeller, 84, of New Albany, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, New Albany, with burial in New Albany National Cemetery. He died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at his home.

He was a native of New Albany, a retired resident engineer for the New Albany-Floyd County School Corp. and was a member of the United States Naval Academy Alumni Association and the United States Naval Academy Blue and Gold Association. He was a member of the American Legion Bonnie Sloan Post and St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Z. Wellons and husband, Philip, Cambridge, Mass.; a granddaughter, Clara Bir Wellons, Cambridge, Mass.; two brothers, David and Urban Zoeller, New Albany and a sister, Margaret "Cissie" Drake Veath, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Bir Zoeller and two brothers, Jack Zoeller and James F. Zoeller.

Arrangements are being handled by Oak Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Michael J. Fox Foundation of Parkinson's Research, Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York, N.Y., 10163.

Nancy Lou Fisher

55; of North Manchester

Funeral services for Nancy Lou Fisher, 55, of North Manchester, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 10, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, 207 W. Main St., North Manchester, with burial in the Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester. She died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, at her residence.

She was a 1967 graduate of Manchester High School. She received a Series seven license to sell stock. She worked at Indiana Lawrence Bank, now Community First Bank in North Manchester for 36 years. She loved to go to her lake home on Beaver Dam Lake with her family. She also enjoyed shopping, golfing and her job.

Survivors include her husband, Greg J. Fisher; two sons, Neil B. Fisher and wife, Alison, Indianapolis and Jeffrey S. Fisher and wife, Erin, Greenfield; three granddaughters, Jordan Hughes, Greenfield, Kennedy Fisher, Greenfield and Stella Lou Fisher, Indianapolis; a grandson, Austin Fisher, Greenfield; three sisters, Cindy Murphy and husband, Lewis, Denver, Darla Gradeless and husband, Dave, Huntington and Terri Mullins and husband, Rich, New Albany; and her father, Walter Little, New Albany.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Vertis Waddell and sister, Sheila Bramlett.

Visitation at the funeral home will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, and from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 10.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Wabash County Cancer Society.

Roberta A. 'Babe' Balmer

76; of Louisville

Funeral services for Roberta L. "Babe" Balmer, 76, of Louisville, formerly of Floyds Knobs, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 10, at Market Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. She died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, at Autumn Woods Health Campus, New Albany.

She attended Atkins Chapel United Methodist Church, Floyds Knobs.

Survivors include two sisters, Aleen Wade and Ruth Weber, New Albany and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation at the funeral home will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Leukemia Society of America.
