Jack B. Risinger
77; attorney
Funeral services for Jack B. Risinger, 77, of Charlestown, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at Grayson Funeral Home, Charlestown, with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. He died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at Medical Center of Southern Indiana.
He was a native of Dugger, an Army veteran of World War ll and earned his Bachelor and Masters degrees from Indiana State University. He also attended the University of Louisville Law School. He was a retired teacher and assistant principal for Charlestown High School, former business manager and attorney for Greater Clark County School Corporation, former Charlestown City attorney and former attorney for North Clark Hospital Foundation Board. He was a lawyer in private practice. He was a member of the American Legion Post 335, Clark County Bar Association, Indiana Bar Association, Jeffersonville Elks Lodge, Blazing Star Masonic Lodge 226 where he was a 32 Degree Mason, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, First United Methodist Church, Charlestown and the Indiana Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include his wife, the former Mary Jo Kelley; a daughter, Gail Messmore, Jeffersonville; three sons, Michael Risinger, Sunnyvale, Calif., Jeff Risinger, Indianapolis and Brad Risinger, Chapel Hill, N.C.; a brother, Thomas Risinger, Dugger; three sisters, Shirley Crandall, Charlestown, Phyllis Pickett, Cicero and Sarah K. Pickett, Zionesville and nine grandchildren.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7 and after 9 a.m. Saturday.
A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the American Heart Association.
Helen C. Miller
91; retired teacher
Funeral services for Helen C. Miller, 91, of New Albany, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at the Oak Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann and Naville Funeral Homes, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. She died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at Autumn Woods Health Campus.
She was the former Helen C. Davis and a native of Bedford. She was the former president of the World Wide Women of The Church of God and a retired school teacher and a co-owner of Miller's Grocery in New Albany. She was a member of First Church of God.
Survivors include 11 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Amiel C. Miller.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to First Church of God in New Albany.
Woodrow J. Austin
80; of English
Woodrow J. Austin, 80, of English, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, at his home.
He was a native of Crawford County, a former employee of Riverside Recycling and a member of Parkway Baptist Church in New Albany.
Survivors include a niece, Grace Cunningham, New Albany and Deborah Mitchell, Clarksville; and a great nephew, Jason Mitchell, New Albany.
Cremation was chosen. There was no funeral service.

Evelyn Field
99; retired dental assistant
Funeral services for Evelyn Fields, 99, of Jeffersonville, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at Scott Funeral Home's Main Street Chapel, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. She died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at Sellersburg Health & Rehab Center.
She was a native of Jeffersonville and a retired dental assistant for Dr. Voiers. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Jeffersonville and the Garden Club.
Survivors include a brother, William "Bill" Sagebiel, New Albany; a nephew, Bruce Sagebiel and wife, Pat, Jeffersonville and a niece, Ruth Ann Chasteen, Jeffersonville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Chic" Fields to whom she was married for 71 years.
Visitation at the funeral home will be after 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the First Presbyterian Church.
Doris Allene Kime
78; of Otisco
Doris Allene Kime, 78, of Otisco, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Bloomington and a retired employee of Sefton Container Corporation, Jeffersonville.
Survivors include her husband, Martin Kime Jr., a retired employee of Colgate Palmolive Company; a son, Martin Kime III, Clarksville; a granddaughter and a great-grandson.
A special thank you to her sister-in-law, Betty, for all of the love and affection she has shown.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The body was cremated with Grayson Funeral Home, Charlestown, in charge of arrangements.
Jane Elizabeth Keller Pedigo
78; of Jeffersonville
Funeral services for Jane Elizabeth Keller Pedigo, 78, of Jeffersonville, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at Scott Funeral Home's Main Street Chapel, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. She died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at her home.
She was a native of Jeffersonville, a retired clerk with Bacon's and a member of Wall Street United Methodist Church and Beta Sigma Phi. She was a member of Jeffersonville High School Class of 1944.
Survivors include four sons, Alan Pedigo, St. Peter, Fla., Brian Pedigo, Sellersburg and David and Craig Pedigo, Jeffersonville; 21 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Wall Street United Methodist Church, Vista Care Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
Charles R. Bell Sr.
90; World War ll veteran
Funeral services for Charles R. Bell Sr., 90, of New Albany, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, with burial to follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery
in Frenchtown. He died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services.
He retired in 1977 from the New Albany-Floyd County School Corporation after being an educator for more than 41 years. He was an Army Air Corp Veteran of World War II and a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Ashton; five children, Charles R. Bell Jr., New Albany, John Edward Bell, Ariz., Mary Sue Gorseline, Peru, Christopher Bell, Jeffersonville and Glen Bell, Corydon; three sisters, Violet Sweeney, Texas and Viola McCartin and Bonnie Nolan, New Albany; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation at Kraft Funeral Service, Charlestown Road Chapel, will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7.

Jerry Lyn Hale
55; Army veteran
Funeral services for Jerry Lyn Hale, 55, of Scottsburg, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at Grayson Funeral Home, Charlestown, with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. He died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at Scott Memorial Hospital, Scottsburg.
He was a native of Jeffersonville, a retired water technician for the city of Pasadena, Texas and an Army veteran of the Vietname War. He was a member of the World Outreach For Christ in Scottsburg.
Survivors include his mother, Opal McClure, Charlestown; a brother, Eddie Hale, Marysville; a sister, Patty Goforth, Charlestown; stepsons, Rick Ashley and Darrell Smith, Texas; stepdaughter, Sandy Ashley, Ala.; and grandchildren, Jennifer, Wesley and Dolby Ashley and Tyler Smith.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7 and after 9 a.m. Saturday.
military graveside services will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1427 and American Legion Post 335, Charlestown.
