Richard Nichter

KENDALLVILLE - Richard R. "Nick" Nichter, 76, died at 1:40 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, at his Kendallville residence.

On Oct. 22, 1925, in Fort Wayne, he was born to Clarence J. and Mary L. (Baker) Nichter. He married Fay L. Robinson on June 13, 1962 in Springfield, Ill. She preceded him in death on Oct. 7, 1993.

He worked for 22 years in sales for Fort Wayne Drug Company, Montgomery Ward and Nichter Decorating for 20 years before retiring in 1995.

Mr. Nichter was a 1943 Fort Wayne South Side High School graduate, a U.S. Marine Corps World War II veteran serving from 1943 to 1945, and a member of American Legion Post 86 and V.F.W. Post 2749 in Kendallville.

Surviving are: three sons, Robert Nichter, Columbia City, David Nichter, Auburn, and Richard Johnston, Fort Wayne; two daughters, Sandra Close, Columbia City, and Dawn Johnston, Angola; three sisters, Alice Henderson, Utah, Janet Morganthaller, Lake Wawasee, and Rita Gomez, Venezuela; two sisters-in-law, Jean Rickitts, Wyandott, Mich., and Diane Nichter, Rome City; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Two brothers preceded him in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville. Burial will be at a later date.

Calling will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials are to Kendallville V.F.W. Post 2749 or to Parkview Noble Home Health and Hospice.

Marie Shoudel

AUBURN - Marie L. Shoudel, 85, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at 7:13 a.m. in Betz Nursing Home of Auburn.

Mrs. Shoudel worked as a clerk at the former Wildermuth Drug Store and Keltsch Drug Store, both in Auburn, for 25 years, retiring in 1982. She also worked as a hairdresser with Lois Shoudel at her shop in Auburn in the 1930s. She lived in Auburn and spent winters in Zephryhills, Fla.

She was a 1934 graduate of Hamilton High School and a 1936 graduate of the Betty Jean School of Beauty Culture in Fort Wayne. She was a member and deaconess of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Auburn and its Hope Circle and Friendly Naomi Circle.

She was born Sept. 20, 1916, in Franklin Township, DeKalb County, to Alva and Ida (Dangler) Kepler.

She married John W. Shoudel on Nov. 27, 1937, in Auburn, and he survives.

Also surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Mary A. Shoudel of Rochester, Ill; two sisters, June Kepler of Garrett and Charlene Stephens of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren and their spouses, Lynne Shoudel of St. Louis, Mo., Dr. John A. and Mary M. Shoudel of Rochester, Ill., David Shoudel of Rochester, Ill., Tracy Hart of Columbia City, and Todd Johnson of Fort Wayne; two great-grandchildren, Celine and Keeley Shoudel of Rochester, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

One daughter, Carol Johnson, preceded her in death.

Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Feller Funeral Home, Waterloo, with Dr. Robert Craig officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Auburn.

Calling is Saturday from 2-6 p.m. in the funeral home.

Memorials are to the First Christian Church.

Troas Wise

AUBURN - Troas May Wise, 92, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, in Betz Nursing Home, Auburn.

She was a teacher at Ashley High School for five years. She formerly lived in New Jersey and Iowa. She was a 1930 graduate of Indiana University.

She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, PEO, DAC, Minerva Club, Stitch and Chatter, Sew & So, DeKalb County Historical Society, Wise Owl Quester Club, Friends of Eckhart Public Library, and several sororities.

She was a former member of Omicron Nu National Home Extension Club.

Mrs. Wise was born June 1, 1908, in Corunna to John and Rosetta (Cox) May. They preceded her in death.

She married Orris Wise, and he died Aug. 2, 1986.

Surviving her are three grandchildren, Brian Wise, John Wise and Amy Wacha.

One son, John Wise, and one sister, Marjorie May, preceded her in death.

Services will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. in Feller Funeral Home, Waterloo, with calling after 1 p.m. Burial will be in the Corunna Cemetery.

Memorials are to the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Maurice Hollopeter

CHURUBUSCO - Maurice A, Hollopeter, 79, of Churubusco, died at 10:19 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2000, at home.

On Nov. 7, 1920, in Allen County, he was born to Albert and Sylvia (Freeman) Hollopeter. He married Vivian Wetzel in Allen County on Oct. 12, 1946. She survives.

Mr. Hollopeter was a lifetime resident of the Churubusco area, working as a truck driver for Norwalk Truckline Freight in Columbia City.

He was a member of the Churubusco United Methodist Church, Churubusco Masonic Lodge 515 and Churubusco Order of Eastern Star 136.

Surviving are: his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Rose) Griffith of Post Falls, Idaho; two sons, Mark Hollopeter of Rochester Hills, Mich., and Kent Hollopeter of Syracuse, Ind.; a sister, Mrs. James (Hazel) Crandal of Fort Wayne; a brother, Ronald Hollopeter of Albion; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.

Three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

Services are at 2 p.m. Monday at Churubusco United Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Newman-Jacobs and Rev. Vaughn Powell officiating. Burial will be in Eel River Cemetery, Churubusco.

Calling is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Orr Funeral, Churubusco.

Memorials are to Churubusco United Methodist Church or EMT's of Churubusco.

Robert Jackson

PLEASANT LAKE - Robert D. Jackson, 70, died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, in his home at Pleasant Lake.

Mr. Jackson owned and operated Jackson Co. of Pleasant Lake. He was a farmer and distributor of fuel oil and gasoline. He was a lifetime resident of Pleasant Lake and a member of the Pleasant Lake Baptist Church. He was an honorary member of the Hamilton Lions Club.

He was born June 4, 1931, in Pleasant Lake to Carl D. and Juanita (Royal) Jackson.

He married Margaret ³Peg\ Harris on July 28, 1950, and she survives.

Also surviving are one son, John C. Jackson of Pleasant Lake; one daughter, Kate Jackson of Pleasant Lake; one sister, Jacinta Krohn of Woodburn; and three grandchildren, Lisa, Christine and Mitchell Jackson.

Services will be held today at 11 a.m. in the Pleasant Lake Baptist Church, with the Rev. George Foulk officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Lake Cemetery.

Calling took place Friday in Weicht Funeral Home, Angola.

Memorials are to the Steuben County Humane Society, 1700 N C.R. 200 W., Angola.

Robert Richter III

August 12, 2002 - FREMONT - Robert Dale Richter III was stillborn Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, at 11:30 p.m. in Cameron Memorial Community Hospital in Angola.

Surviving are his parents, Shanon Patton of Fremont and Robert Dale Richter Jr. of Mishawaka; his maternal grandmother, Kathryn Thimlar of Angola; his paternal grandparents, Robert Richter Sr. and Rebecca Richter of Mishawaka; and his paternal great-grandmother, Ethel Richter of Mishawaka.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Fremont Cemetery, with Pastor Jon Bruney officiating. There will be no calling.

Memorials are to the family.

Beams Funeral Home of Fremont is in charge of arrangements.

Lucie Wilcoxson

December 22, 2001 - AVILLA - Lucie Mae Wilcoxson, 58, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2001, at 1 a.m. in her home on DeKalb County Road 48, Avilla.

Mrs. Wilcoxsonwas a factory worker and member of the Garrett United Methodist Church. She lived in Avilla for 32 years.

She was born June 14, 1943, in Angola to Clay L. and Mary Margaret (Huff) Lemmon. They preceded her in death.

She married Ralph D. Wilcoxson on March 8, 1963, in Hamilton and he survives.

Also surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Rod Frantz of Peru; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Scott and Tara Wilcoxson of Huntington, and Rex Wilcoxson of Avilla; one brother, James Lemmon of Fort Wayne; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sharon and Ted Perna of Garland, Texas, and Linda and William Lindeman of Fort Wayne; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Louie Lemmon; a half-sister, LuAnn Reede; and her stepfather, Ammon D. Troyer.

Services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in Garrett United Methodist Church, with calling after 9 a.m. Dr. Scott Moss will officiate. Burial will be in Christian Union Cemetery of rural Garrett.

Additional calling is Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in Thomas Funeral Home, Garrett.

Memorials are to DeKalb County Hospice or the Garrett United Methodist Church.
