Konnie Bowden
NAPLES, FLA. - Konnie K. Bowden, 82, of Naples, Fla., formerly of LaGrange, died of heart failure Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at HCR Manor Care, Naples, Fla.
On Sept. 12, 1919, she was born in Lima, Ohio. She married John Bowden, who preceded her in death.
She was a chef in several country clubs in Indiana which her husband managed, and a member of the Church of God in Naples.
Surviving are three daughters, Margaret Jarrett of Lakeland, Fla., and Marcia Bowser and Alice Wood, both of Naples; four sons, John Sid Bowden of Lake Worth, Fla., George Bowden of Cedar Hill, Texas, Mark Bowden of Highland Village, Texas, and Morgan Bowden of Roco Grande, Fla.; two brothers, Jon Ananias of Albion and Bill Ananias of Spokane, Wash.; three sisters, Angela Ananias of Fort Wayne, Mary Taggart of Kendallville, and Alexandria Kales of Elgin, Ill; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lakeland Funeral Home, Naples, Fla., with calling from 10 to 11 a.m. the same day.
Gladys Collins
June 12, 2002 - ORLAND - Gladys H. Collins, 98, died Tuesday, June 11, 2002, in Drew's Place of Coldwater, Mich.
Mrs. Collins was a homemaker and lived in Orland. She graduated from Kendallville High School and was a member of the First Congregational Church of Orland.
She was born Aug. 29, 1903, in Kendallville to William and Martha (Brouse) Herberger.
She married A.B. Collins on May 5, 1937. He died Jan. 14, 1996.
Surviving her are one son, Michael Collins of Orland; one daughter, Martha Sue Shaw of Coldwater; one nephew, Bob Herberger of Auburn; and two grandchildren.
Two brothers preceded her in death.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the First Congregational Church of Orland, with the Rev. Mark Emelander officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery
at Orland.
Calling is Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in Weicht Funeral Home, Angola.

Rosemary Splittgerber
December 22, 2001 - OMAHA, Neb. - Rosemary Eastlack Splittgerber died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, in Omaha.
Mrs. Splittgerber was a former teacher for the Omaha Public and District 66 schools and the associate editor for the South Omaha Sun.
She was an active officer and volunteer for many philanthropic community and religious groups in Angola; Omaha, North Platte and Gothenburg, Neb.; and Mesa and Show Low, Ariz.
She is survived by her husband, Rolland; two sons and daughters-in-law, Marc and Sharla Splittgerber of Olathe, Kan., and Paul Splittgerber and Ann Ireland of Nehawka, Neb.; one daughter, Ann Splittgerber of San Ramon, Calif.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ned and Helen Eastlack of Lincoln, Neb., and Thomas and Pat Eastlack of Bellevue Neb.; one brother-in-law, George Evans of Sun City West, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Rebecca, Allison and Zach; and one great-grandson, Grant; and aunts, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ned B. and Dora O. Eastlack, and a sister, Martha Evans.
Memorial services will be held Feb. 16 with details announced at a later date.

Inez Negrete
February 15, 2002 - LAGRANGE - Inez Negrete, 64, of LaGrange, died at 6:05 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, at her residence.
In Haleyville, Ala., on March 15, 1937, she was born to Albert Roy and Savannah Marie (Price) Burnett. She married Juan Q. Negrete on Sept. 17, 1958, in White Pigeon, Mich.
She worked in housekeeping at Miller Merry Manor nursing home in LaGrange.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Peter Q. and Carol Negrete of Elkhart; seven daughters, Linda and Clarence Eells of Mottville, Mich., Carolyn and Roger Miller of Howe, Kathy and Terry Paulus of LaGrange, Inez and Monte Dafforn of Wolcottville, Virginia Negrete of White Pigeon, Mich., Maria and Kirk Wickey of Middlebury and Juanita and Mike Bechtol of Fremont; two brothers, Lee Burnett of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Cecil Burnett of Cordova, Ala.; a sister, Marie Burnett of New York; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Her parents; husband; a son, Frank; a daughter, Paula; two brothers, Carl and Otho Burnett, and a sister, Anna Mae Burnett, preceded her in death.
Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Carney-Frost Funeral Home, LaGrange. Burial is at Greenwood Cemetery, LaGrange.
Calling is 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Jerry Schad
June 12, 2002 - FREMONT - Jerry Lee Schad, 59, died Tuesday, June 11, at Northern Lakes Nursing Home in Angola.
Mr. Schad worked as a welder of heavy equipment.
He was born in Bryan, Ohio, to Gerald J. and Eva K. Schad. They survive.
Also surviving is a brother, Alan Schad of Bryan.
Services will be 1 p.m. northeast Indiana time Friday at Shiffler Cemetery
in Bryan.
Calling is one hour prior to services at Rice Funeral Home in Bryan.

Ruthann Buttermore
AUBURN - Ruthann Buttermore, 77, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, at her Auburn residence.
Mrs. Buttermore worked at Buttermore Appliance from 1985 until her retirement in 1989. Previously, she worked for Auburn Motor Sales from 1971-1980, DeKalb Memorial Hospital Central Supply from 1967-1971, and was a Welcome Wagon Hostess in the 1960s.
She was a member of the Auburn Presbyterian Church, the Auburn Arts Commission, the Auburn Improvement Association and Community Concerts of DeKalb County. She also served eight years on Auburn's Board of Zoning Appeals.
She was born in Bluffton on Jan 27, 1924, to Gerald and Agnes (Reiff) Russell.
Surviving are three sons and one daughter-in-law, Eric J. and Millie B. Buttermore of Kingwood, Texas, and Bradley R. Buttermore and Gregg J. Buttermore, both of Auburn; and one grandson, Adam B. Buttermore of Fort Wayne.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Russell.
Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Feller Funeral Home, 875 S. Wayne St., Waterloo, with the Rev. William R. Haworth officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery
in Bluffton.
Calling is Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.

George Noll
KISSIMMEE, Fla. - George D. Noll, 77, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, in Oceola Regional Medical Center in Kissimmee, Fla., after an extended illness.
Mr. Noll was a retired banker and moved to Florida in 1957 from Cromwell. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.
He lived in Kissimmee and served as president of the Lions Club of Kissimmee, where he was given a lifetime membership for 50 years of membership. He was a member of Poinciana Christian Church of Kissimmee.
He was born Dec. 22, 1923, in Edon, Ohio, to Floyd and Mildred (Barron) Noll.
He married Mary Lou Van Zile on Oct. 11, 1946, in Waynesville, Ohio. She survives.
Also surviving him are one son, David Noll of Hamilton, Ohio; a daughter, Karna Doty of Madison, Wis.; one brother, Ira Noll of Willis, Texas; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, Ohio, with calling after 10 a.m. Minister Brant L. Doty will officiate. Burial will be in Edon Cemetery.

Shirley Tracey
ANGOLA - Shirley Mae Tracey, 67, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Tracey was a homemaker and lived in Angola. She was a member of the Angola Church of the Nazarene.
She was born Dec. 8, 1934, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Wilford Arthur McClure and Leota Evelyn (Coil) McClure.
She married Dick Tracey on Aug. 21, 1953. He survives.
Also surviving are one son, Rick Tracey Jr. of Angola; one daughter, Cathy Mae Friend of Orland; two sisters, Betty Muckey of Anchorage, Alaska, and Beverly Borgeson of Brownsboro, Texas; and five grandchildren, Kelly LaHaine, Ryan Tracey, Trevor Friend, Trent Friend and Traci Mae Friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Gary Tracey, in 1982.
Services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Angola Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Randy Marshall officiating. Burial will be in Circle Cemetery, Hudson.
Calling is Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in Weicht Funeral Home, Angola.
