Walter Koch
MONTPELIER, Ohio - Walter R. Koch, 77, died Tuesday, June 11, 2002, at St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield, Mo.
Before retiring Mr. Koch worked as a custodian with the Cabool IV Schools in Cabool, Mo., for 20 years. Prior to relocating in Missouri, he lived in Butler, where he worked at Universal Tools Inc. for 12 years, and Kendallville, where he worked at Kendallville Lumber Co. He served in the U.S. Army during the
Korean War and was a member of the First Christian Church of Cabool and a life member of the American Legion Post in Cabool and the American Rabbit Breeders Association. He collected miniature cars, trucks and farm machinery.
He was born May 24, 1925, in Bryan, Ohio, to Earnest Walter and Rose Mabel (Ridge) Koch. He graduated from Stryker High School in 1943. He married Myrta L. Pike of Montpelier June 5, 1958. She preceded him in death July 25, 1993.
Surviving are three sisters and brothers-in-law, Grace and James Klender of Pioneer, Ohio, Margaret and Rell L. Myers of Montpelier, and Carol and Brook Franklin of Mountain Grove, Mo.; five nieces; and five nephews.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Wilson-Geesey Funeral Home in Montpelier. Pastor Rick Burton will officiate. Burial will be in West Buffalo Cemetery
near Blakeslee, Ohio, with military graveside rites conducted by Montpelier veteran organizations.
Calling is 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Edna Leamon
KENDALLVILLE - Edna B. Leamon, 90, died Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, at Heartland Health Center, Three Rivers, Mich.
Mrs. Leamon had been a Sturgis, Mich., area resident for the last five years, and lived most of her life in the Kendallville area. She had been employed at Freeman Manufacturing, Sturgis, for many years. Before retiring from the Monsano Co., Ligonier, she worked and did alterations for Seger's department store and Tribbetts Women's Apparel, both in Sturgis. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Kendallville.
She was born June 4, 1912, in Thorncreek Township, Whitley County, to Jacob and Lottie (Kanafel) Hougendobler. In 1931 she married Albert Leamon in Whitley County. He preceded her in death May 23, 1978.
Also preceding her in death was a daughter, Marjorie Lynch.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Elmer Conner of Sturgis; a son, Albert Leamon Jr. of Kendallville; two sisters, Lucille Shew of Columbia City and Ilene McNeil of Decatur; 11 grandchildren, Terry, Dennis, Craig and Kevin Conner, Sharon Conner-Todd, Scott and Jeff Leamon, Alyssa Sanford and Deb, Lynn and Mike Lynch; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are 1 p.m. northeast Indiana time Tuesday at Hackman-Foglesong Funeral Home, Sturgis, Mich. The Rev. Joe Fralick will officiate. Graveside committal services follow at Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.
Calling is 11 a.m.-1 p.m. northeast Indiana time at the funeral home.

Audra Holzworth
HARLAN - Audra M. Holzworth, 90, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, at 4:30 p.m. in the Laurels of DeKalb nursing home in Butler. She had resided there for the past seven months.
Mrs. Holzworth previously had lived in Harlan. She worked at Universal Tool in Butler, retiring in 1976.
She was a former member of the Happy Hour Home Extension Homemakers Club of Scipio Township, Allen County.
She was born March 22, 1911, at Harlan to Albert B. and Jessie Cora (Huttenburg) Ward.
She married Henry D. "Hank" Holzworth at Harlan. He died June 4, 1979.
Surviving are one sister, Esther Applegate of Butler, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Wilbur, Wilmer, Robert and Dale Ward, and four sisters, Donna Wilmot, Virgie Anna Ward, Anna Myers and Edna Helen Ward.
Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Brown Funeral Home, 706 N. Main St., Hicksville, Ohio. Clarence Zimmerman will officiate. Burial will be in Scipio Cemetery
at Harlan.
Calling is today from 3-7 p.m. in the funeral home.

Alden Mahrle
STANLEY, N.C. - Alden Herman Mahrle, 77, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, in Gaston Memorial Hospital, Gastonia, N.C.
Mr. Mahrle was a former Montgomery, Mich., resident. He was a retired farmer and had lived in Michigan for many years. He was a member of Sharon Seventh Day Adventist Church in Charlotte, N.C.
He was born Nov. 19, 1924, in Jackson County, Mich., to Seth Xavier and Emma Sarah (Trib) Mahrle.
Surviving are his wife, Lydia Schoun Mahrle; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cherly M. and Michael Toney of Iron Station, N.C., and April and Jeff Henson of Denver, N.C.; one son, Arden Dennis Mahrle of Stanley, N.C.; two sisters, Delores M. Wolff of Manchester, Mich., and Gloria M. Kidder of Jackson, Mich.; one brother, Beauford Mahrle of Clearwater, Fla.; and six grandchildren.
One brother, Darwin Seth Mahrle, preceded him in death.
Services were held Wednesday in Rayborn Memorial Seventh Day Adventist Church of Branch County, Mich., with Elder Robert Kloosterhuis officiating. Burial was in California Cemetery
in Branch County.
Memorials are to Seventh Day Adventist Community Service Center, Coldwater, MI.

Bernice Brandenburg
KENDALLVILLE - Bernice F. Brandenburg, 77, of Zephyllis, Fla., died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, at Zephr Haven Rehab, Zephyllis, Fla.
Services are pending at Brazzell Funeral Home, Avilla.
Katie Beechy
TOPEKA - Katie M. Beechy, 80, died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, at her rural Topeka home.
The lifetime LaGrange County resident was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
She was born Feb. 25, 1922, in LaGrange County to Manas and Mary (Christener) Hochstetler. She married John M. Beechy Dec. 23, 1943, in LaGrange County. He survives.
Also surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and David Miller of Topeka; four sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Emma Beechy, Elmer and Wilma Beechy and Amos and Lorene Beechy, all of Shipshewana, and Melvin and Barbara Beechy of Topeka; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Lydia Mae and Ervin Lehman and Rosa and William Hochstetler, all of LaGrange, and Edna Miller of Millersburg; 22 grandchildren; and 48 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Ada Graber, in 1990, and a grandchild.
Services are 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the family home, 4410W - C.R. 350S, Topeka. Bishop Perry Lehman and ministers Floyd Lehman and Orla Miller will officiate. Burial will be at Miller Cemetery
in rural LaGrange.
Calling is after 5 p.m. today and all day Tuesday at the family home.

Olevia Keeler
ST. JOE - Olevia L. Keeler, 84, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, at 4:10 p.m. in Hospice Home at Fort Wayne.
Services will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. in Feller Funeral Home, 875 S. Wayne St., Waterloo.
Calling is Saturday from 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Paul Healey
KENDALLVILLE - Paul A. Healey, 57, died at 11:49 a.m. Thursday, Feb.14, 2002, at Parkview Noble Hospital, Kendallville.
On April 10, 1944, in Stroh, he was born to Milo D. and Evelyn (Zook) Healey.
He worked as a truck driver, and had been employed at the former Kendallville Foundry.
Surviving are a daughter, Paula Prater of Decatur; a brother, Milo Healey of Stroh; a sister, Linda Moore of Stroh; and three grandchildren.
A brother and a sister preceded him in death.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Hite Funeral Home, Kendallville. Burial will be in Mount Pisgah Cemetery, rural LaGrange County, with the Rev. Willie Collins officiating.
Calling is 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hite Funeral, Kendallville.
Daunte Powell
AUBURN - Daunte Bryce Powell was stillborn Wednesday, June 12, 2002, in DeKalb Memorial Hospital, Auburn.
Surviving are his parents, Mark and Christina (Caldwell) Powell of Auburn; one brother, Drayke Powell, at home; his grandparents, Del Caldwell of Waterloo, and Bill and Linda Powell of Auburn; his great-grandparents, Theo and Jim Clouse of Hudson; his aunts and uncles, Melissa and Delmar Belson of Yankton, S.D., Cathy and Kenneth Treesh of Waterloo, Matt and Chanda Caldwell of Auburn, Bill and Amy Powell of Auburn, and Scott and Michelle Powell of Blakeslee, Ohio; nine cousins, Ehrin, Katie, Jessica and Nathan Nelson, Levi and Autumn Treesh, Olivia Caldwell, Mataya Sims and Vincent Trauech; and several great-aunts and great-uncles.
He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Dona Noirot; and his great-grandparents, Leo and Ruth Noirot, Oren and Ida Caldwell, John and Dorothy Powell, and Jesse Roose.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Feller Funeral Home, Waterloo, with the Rev. Ralph Diehl officiating. Ashes will be scattered at Cedar Creek Chapel Cemetery
in rural Garrett.
Memorials are to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, in care of Nancy Carper, and New Hope Christian Center of Waterloo.
