Catherine Brand
ASHLEY - Catherine C. Brand, 78, died Monday, June 12, 2000, at 11:40 p.m. in Wesley Health Care Center, Auburn.
Mrs. Brand was a homemaker and lived in rural Ashley. She was a member of New Hope Christian Center, Waterloo.
She was born July 5, 1921, in Garrett to Gearhart Anthony and Bessie Edith (Lindsey) Drerup.
She married Buford Wendal Brand on Dec. 25, 1937, in Hudson. He died in 1980.
Surviving her are one son, Larry P. Brand of Ashley; two daughters, Shirley Lawson of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Sue Smith of Waterloo; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Ned Allan Brand; one sister, Audrey Hathaway; five brothers, Ray, Woody, Albert, Arthur and Sam Drerup; and one grandson.
Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Feller Funeral Home, Waterloo, with the Rev. Ralph Diehl officiating. Burial will be in Fairfield Cemetery, rural Corunna.
Calling is Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
Memorials are to New Hope Christian Center.
Nancy Curtis
FORT WAYNE - Nancy C. Curtis, 60, of Tehachapi, Calif., died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, in Hospice Home of Indiana.
A native of Fort Wayne, she retired in 1991 as an office worker at GTE.
Surviving are a sister, Sarah Gesell of Fort Wayne; three brothers, Richard Curtis of Rome City, Donald Curtis of Columbia City, and Michael Curtis of Albion; and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Jude Catholic Church, 2100 Randallia Drive. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
Calling is one hour before services at the church.
Memorials are to Hospice Home of Northeast Indiana.
Howard Londt
ALBION - Howard E. Londt, 78, a Noble County farmer, died unexpectedly at 6 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, in his home near Wolf Lake.
He was born July 10, 1922, in Union Township, Whitley County, to John Henry and Rada Grace Londt. On Feb. 20, 1944, he married Dorothy E. Walker. She survives.
Mr. Londt grew up in Whitley County where he graduated from Jefferson Center High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II at the Battle of the Bulge. The Londts lived in Texas while he was stationed with the Army and following his discharge they returned to the Wolf Lake community and began farming. They purchased their present farm in 1950. He had also been employed by the Weatherhead Corp., Columbia Woolen Mills and Columbia Products for a brief time. He had been a Central Noble School bus driver for 22 1/2 years.
He was a member of Cornerstone Wesleyan Church, Noble County Farm Bureau and Albion American Legion Post 246.
Also surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Edward E. and Mary Jane Londt of Huntertown, and Dennis R. and Susan Londt of Muncie; a daughter, Mrs. Chris (Peggy C.) Wegenka of Fort Wayne; nine grandchildren; a sister, Laurabelle Walker of Columbia City; two half-brothers, Harold Hinman of Roanoke and Norman Hinman of Huntington.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Loyal and Homer Londt and a sister, Grace Neidermeyer.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Cornerstone Wesleyan Church, Merriam, with the Rev. George Cecil officiating. Burial will be in Thorn Cemetery
at Ormas with military rites by Albion American Legion Post 246.
Calling is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday in Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City, and 30 minutes before services at the church.

Walter Walzer
HUDSON - Walter J. Walzer, 81, of Hudson, died at 8:35 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000, in his home.
He was born April 3, 1919, in Kentland to James and Mary (Geise) Walzer. On Oct. 14, 1944, he married Victoria Romaneck. She survives.
Mr. Walzer, a graduate of South Side High School, retired from Zollner Pistons Corp. when he was 62. He was a member of St. Mary's of the Angels Catholic Church at Big Long Lake.
Also surviving are two sons, Jack Walzer of Westport, Calif., and James Walzer of Fort Bragg, Calif.; a brother, Frank Walzer of Bluffton; two sisters, Helen O'Brien of Orange, Calif., and Barbara Pelon of Pennsylvania; and three grandchildren, Tatiana Walzer and Gustav Walzer, both of Westport, and Katherine Walzer of Fort Bragg.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary's of the Angels Catholic Church with the Rev. Conrad Schweibold officiating. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
Calling is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in Hite Funeral Home, Kendallville.
Memorials are to Parkview Noble Hospice or Masses to St. Mary's of the Angels Catholic Church.
LeRoy Mishler
TOPEKA - LeRoy "Roy" Mishler, 98, of Topeka, died at 4:50 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000 in Kingston Healthcare of Ligonier.
He was born Oct. 25, 1901, in LaGrange County to Edward and Lydia (Yoder) Mishler. He married Mary Sherck Mishler on Nov. 4, 1922. She preceded him in death Oct. 15, 1988.
Mr. Mishler was a retired farmer and custodian of Topeka Elementary School. He was a member of Wawaka Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are four daughters and three sons-in-laws Rachel and Harley Mast of Millersburg; Carolyn and Delbert Freeman of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.; Margaret Tarman of New Paris; and Phyllis and Ted Miller of Middlebury; 19 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Mishler, who died Aug. 24, 1998; one sister, one half-sister, one brother and six half-brothers.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Orr Funeral Home, Ligonier, with the Rev. Ellis Croyle and the Rev. Earl Coatse officiating. Burial will be in Townline Cemetery, Shipshewana.
Calling is 3-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

John Wedding
AVILLA - John W. Wedding, 75, died at 7 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, in his Avilla home.
Mr. Wedding was born May 26, 1925, in Connersville to John and Eleanor (Murray) Wedding. On June 3, 1946, he married Fay Cotner in Connersville. She survives in Avilla.
Mr. Wedding signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates for the 1942-43 baseball season, but in World War II was drafted to serve in the Pacific. He was injured and never returned to baseball.
An electrician for the Town of Avilla from 1965 to 1989, Mr. Wedding was a member of American Legion Post 240, Avilla; Garrett VFW Post 1892; Amvets Post 11, Connersville; and Calvary United Methodist Church, Avilla.
In addition to his wife, survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Jonnie and Joseph Ciezak of Munster; two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Nora Wedding of Tenian Island, South Pacific, and Brent and Linda Wedding Sr. of Avilla; a sister, Norma Buckley of Connersville; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Brazzell Funeral Home, Avilla, with the Rev. Dean Bearman officiating. Visitation is Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
military graveside services by American Legion Post 240 will be conducted at the Avilla Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to Parkview Noble Hospice.
A. Marie Redman
AUBURN - A. Marie "Grandma Red" Redman, 93, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at 12:28 p.m. in Miller's Merry Manor, Garrett.
Mrs. Redman was a homemaker and did foster care for nine years. She graduated from Rensselaer High School in 1925 and attended business school in South Bend. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Fort Wayne, D.U.V., and Rebekah Lodge of Fort Wayne.
She was born Aug. 24, 1907, in Jasper County, Ind., to Alburtus McKeever Yeoman and Mary R. (Grant) Yeoman.
She married Harold Theodore Redman on Jan. 4, 1930, in LaGrange. He preceded her in death.
Surviving her are two daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Franklin Jordan of Auburn, and Jeanette and John Caccmo of Fort Wayne; one niece, Margaret McClellan of Muncie; 25 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Harold Redman Jr.; one sister, Irene McClellan; one brother, Shelby Yeoman; and one great-granddaughter, Jenny Jordan.
Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, Fort Wayne, with the Rev. Don Shankster officiating. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens.
Calling is Thursday from 4-9 p.m. in McComb, Dilgard & Cline Funeral Home in Auburn, and Friday from 2-5 p.m. in D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home.
