HARTFORD CITY - Rebecca Quillen, 89, Hartford City, died at 7:04 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, at Blackford Community Hospital, Hartford City.

Services are pending at Glancy Funeral Homes, Walker Chapel, 109 W. Windsor St., Montpelier.

Elva Foreman, 75

BERNE - Elva Foreman, 75, Berne, died at 12:15 a.m. on Tuesday,

Nov. 18, 2003, at Woodcrest Nursing Center, Decatur.

Services are pending at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N. Washington St., Berne.

Orville J. Schmidt, 85

GREAT FALLS, MONT. - Orville J. Schmidt, 85, formerly of Hartford City and residing in Great Falls, Mont., died of leukemia on Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, at the home of his daughter.

Mr. Schmidt was born on April 27, in Roll to Mr. and Mrs. Orville (Dora Stevens) Schmidt.

Private family services are planned for a later date.

Cremation took place under the direction of O'Connor Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to Peace Hospice.

Sarah A. McCord, 81

WARREN - Sarah A. McCord, 81, died at 9:45 p.m. Saturday, April 17, at the United Methodist Memorial Home, Warren.

Services will be at 10:00 Friday, May 28, at Saint Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Ron Rieder.

Glancy Funeral Homes - H. Brown & Son Chapel, 203 Matilda St., Warren is in charge of arrangements.

Joseph E. Pormen, 79

Parker CITY - Joseph E. Pormen, 79, died Sunday, April 18, at the Parker Health Care.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 21, at Miller Mortuary, Farmland.

Burial will be at Union Cemetery, Windsor.

Calling hours will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, at Miller Mortuary, Farmland.

William A. House, 80

MUNCIE - William A. House, 80, rural Muncie, died Tuesday, April 27, at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster, Ohio.

He was born March 13, 1924, in Delaware County, the son of Alvin and Permelia (Stephenson) House.

He married Helen Baker, April 16, 1944 in Delaware County. She survives.

Mr. House had resided in Huntington County from 1963 to 1985 when he returned to the Muncie area.

He worked from 1956 to 1984 as a supervisor of maintenance at the General Motors plant in Marion.

He was an Army veteran of World War II as a ranger and had served in the European Theatre, participating in the Invasion of Normandy.

Mr. House was a member of the Eaton United Methodist Church, Past Commander of the Eaton American Legion, American Legion Post #159 of Hartford City, Eaton Lions Club and Past District Governor, Eaton Lodge #606 F & AM, Scottish Rite, Valley of Fort Wayne, Mizpah Shrine of Fort Wayne, Murat Shrine Club of Muncie, Purity Chapter #126 Order of Eastern Star of Hartford City, Oliver Lake Association of LaGrange County, Amvets Post #12 of Muncie and a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Helen; sons, Darrell, Warren; Merrell (Elaine), Ft. Wayne; Tony (Janice), Baltimore, Ohio; Jim (Sandy), Mt Etna; brother Orville (Eva Jean) House, Farmland; sister Ellen VanDevender, Ocala, Fla.; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a son Ferrell, daughter-in-law, Nancy House, brothers George and Earl House, sister Sarah (Burt) Elzey, and great grandson Trevor James House.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 1, in the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton, with Rev. William Lavely and Rev. Gerald Moreland officiating.

Burial will be at Gardens of Memory, Muncie with military graveside rites.

Friends may call at the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home fro 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 30, with Masonic Service at 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday, May 1.

Memorials may be made to the Donor's favorite charity or Autism Association, c/o Pitman-Richman Funeral Home.

Dorothy L. Covey, 62

Hartford City - Dorothy L. Covey, 62, passed away Wednesday evening at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in 1941 in Alderson, West Virginia to Carl and Dorothy Phillips. Dorothy graduated from Minerva High School in 1959. She was a graduate of the Jane Skinner Modeling Academy. She was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Minerva, Ohio, the V.F.W in Minerva, and the Moose Lodge in Bluffton.

Mrs. Covey was preceded in death by her parents; and a son Gregory L. Ellwood.

Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Frank Covey, Hartford City; a daughter, June Doublin (husband: Richard), Hartford City; a son, John Ellwood, Bluffton; two step-daughters, Kim Underwood (husband: Titus), Ft. Wayne, and Kelli Gunder (husband: James), Ft. Wayne; one step-son, Jon Covey (wife: Rosa), Ft. Wayne; three sisters, Stella Mackey (husband: Bill), East Canton, Ohio, Pat Charles, Hartford City, and Betty Patrick, Phoenix, Arizona; thirteen grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North State Road 3, Muncie, Ind. 47303

Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Burial will be conducted at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

Carolyn Rose Thomas, 77

Hartford City - Carolyn Rose Thomas, 77, passed away Monday evening at Marion General Hospital in Marion after an extended illness.

She was born in 1927 in Elwood to Ralph and Sylvia McElfresh. Carolyn attended Elwood High School. She retired from Corning Glass Works in Bluffton after 15 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Karen Sue Dodds; and three brothers, William McElfresh, Victor McElfresh, and Eugene McElfresh.

Carolyn leaves to cherish her memory seven sons, John Thomas (wife: Sandra), Eaton, Paul Thomas (wife: Susan), Bluffton, Steve Thomas, Hartford City, Mike Thomas (wife: Sandi), Chesapeake, Virginia, Frank Thomas, Richmond, Virginia, Thomas Thomas (companion: Ann Budd), Springfield, Illinois, and Patrick Thomas, Albany; three daughters, Carol Marsh (husband: David), Ft. Wayne, Cheryl Edmondson, Ft. Wayne, and Janet Roberts (husband: Ronald), Marion; one sister, Mary Ellen Young, Elwood; one brother, Jack Beeman, Tennessee; seventeen grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Garden View Funeral Home.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday.

Burial will be conducted at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

Burl Francis Myers, 88

HARTFORD CITY - Burl Fransic Myers, 88, died on Thursday, April 29, of complications at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio.

Services are pending at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St., Hartford City.

Toni K. Murrell, 57

HARTFORD CITY - Toni K. Murrell, 57, 716 N. Jefferson St., died at 8:15 a.m Saturday, May 1, in her home following a brief illness.

She was born September 17, 1946 in Jay County, the daughter of Ralph and Maxine (Kinley) Anders.

She was a graduate of Redkey High School in 1964.

She married Dennis A. Murrell January 7, 1967 in Redkey. He survives.

Mrs. Murrell resided in the Redkey area until 1967 when she moved to Hartford City.

A homemaker, Mrs. Murrell had worked at Indiana Glass, Dunkirk for ten years until the factory closed.

She was a member of the Redkey United Methodist Church, the Delta Theta Tau Sorority, Blackford County Literacy Coalition, experimental teacher's aide program, Indiana Baton Twirlers Association, past president of the Dunkirk Women's Bowling Association and had been active with Brownie Scouts in Hartford City.

Surviving are her husband, Dennis, son John Paul Murrell (wife - Bertha), stationed with the United States Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio; daughter Liza Ann (Mrs. Dave) Wick, Hartford City; brother Jack Anders, Redkey; grandchildren April and Alex Murrell, Chris and Haleigh Wick, step-grandchild Cody Wick, and a special cousin Brenda Lillard, with heartfelt thanks for the care you've given.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister Linda Anders.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City.

Burial will be at Hartford City Cemetery.

Friends may call the Waters Funeral Home from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 3, and after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 4.
