Hy Goldenberg
Hy Goldenberg, a business executive who was also a leader in local civic activities for many years, died Wednesday night. He was 81.
Mr. Goldenberg, a resident of 3008 E. Stone Ledge Blvd., died at 10:02 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 9, 2000) at Lutheran Hospital.
He retired in 1981 as vice president of Huntington Laboratories, where he began working in 1947. He was a member of the Achduth Vesholom Temple in Fort Wayne. He served as a board member for the Huntington City-Township Public Library for several terms, was a member of Acres, Inc., in Fort Wayne, and served as chairman of the Huntington United Way Fund Drive and was active in a number of United Way campaigns.
He served with the 10th Mountain Division Ski Troop in Northern Italy during World War II and attended the annual reunions. He moved from Massachusetts to Huntington in 1947 and spent the winter months in Israel.
He was born Dec. 9, 1918, in New York City, to Samuel and Dora Kalish Goldenberg. He graduated from Lawrence High School, Lawrence, Mass., in 1936. He married Lorry Brenn on June 13, 1944, in Huntington. His wife survives.
Also surviving are a son, Sherman Goldenberg, Syracuse; two daughters, Mrs. Zvi (Ellen) Stepak, Ramat Gan, Israel, and Mrs. William (Nan) Plasterer, Huntington; a brother, Norman Goldenberg, Israel; and eight grandchildren.
A sister, Rose Boches, preceded him in death.
Calling is from 9:30 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Dr. Rabbi Sanford Kopnick will officiate at the services.
Burial will be at a later date.

Blanche M. Geiger
Blanche M. Geiger, 93, died at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 8, 2000) at the Markle Health Care Center, Markle, where she was a resident.
Mrs. Geiger was the co-owner of Geiger Heating & Plumbing in Zanesville, where she was also the bookkeeper for 23 years. She was a member of the Zanesville Church of God and Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 563 in Markle.
She was born Aug. 20, 1906, in Wells County to Milo Reed and Zeffie Kitchen Reed. She married Clair E. Geiger Sept. 1, 1934, in Zanesville. Her husband died Dec. 29, 1987.
Survivors include a brother, Ralph Reed, Huntington; and a sister, Esther Krick, Ossian.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Reed and Theodore Reed.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Thursday at the Myers Funeral Home, Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee St., Markle. Pastor Larry Elder will officiate.
Burial will be at the Hoverstock Cemetery, Zanesville.

Marion N. Mishler
Marion Naomi Mishler, 81, North Manchester, died at 7:55 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 8, 2000) at the Caylor-Nickel Medical Center in Bluffton.
Mrs. Mishler and her husband, Rev. John D. Mishler, pastored eight different churches during their 50 years of service with the Church of the Brethren. She was a member of the North Manchester Church of the Brethren. She had worked in the nursing programs at Wells County Hospital, Huntington Memorial Hospital, Miami County Hospital and Bethany Hospital in Chicago, and had formerly worked as a telephone operator.
She was born June 30, 1918, in Beaverton, Mich., to Alva Quelet and Laura E. Bergman Quelet. She married John D. Mishler June 1, 1941, in Beaverton. Her husband survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Delora A. Roop, Richmond, and Rosalyn M. Neuenschwander, Decatur; a son, James D. Mishler, Huntington; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by seven sisters.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday at the Timbercrest Assembly Room, 2201 East St., North Manchester.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Timbercrest Chapel, 2201 East St., North Manchester, with Pastor Susan Boyer officiating. Burial will be at the Roann Community Cemetery, Roann.
Preferred memorials are to the Timbercrest Retirement Center or the North Manchester Church of the Brethren.
Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, 207 W. Main St., North Manchester, is in charge of arrangements.
Paul 'Jack' Nunemaker Sr.
Paul Jackson "Jack" Nunemaker Sr., 76, Robinson Creek, Ky., died Sunday (Feb. 6, 2000) at the Pikeville Methodist Hospital in Pikeville, Ky.
Mr. Nunemaker owned the Bulldog Auto Parts, Garage and Restaurant in Huntington from the early 1950s through the early 1970s. He moved to Kentucky in 1971.
He was born Nov. 21, 1924, in Huntington to William Nunemaker and Lavicia Bouriff Nunemaker. He married Audrey Tackett April 3, 1963, in West Virginia. His wife survives.
Also surviving are six sons, Paul J. Nunemaker Jr., Huntington, Richard Nunemaker, Steve Nunemaker, Mike Nunemaker and David Nunemaker, all of Kentucky, and William Nunemaker, Georgia; 21 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, a brother, three sisters and one grandson.
Calling is all day Tuesday at the R. S. Jones & Son Funeral Home, Main Street, Virgie, Ky. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at the Tackett Family Cemetery, Dorton, Ky.
Sharon L. Stephans
Sharon L. Stephans, 54, died Jan. 19, 2000, in Orange Park, Fla.
Mrs. Stephans had resided in the Orange Park area for the past seven years and was a member of the Vineyard Christian Fellowship Church, Middleburg, Fla.
She was born in New Orleans to Lester and Gladys Caioulette. Her parents survive. She married Ronald Stephans, a former resident of Huntington County. Her husband survives.
Also surviving are a son, Max S. Stephans; a daughter, Marlene Kelly; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Jan. 22 at the Vineyard Christian Fellowship Church, Middleburg, with Rev. Lamar Junkins officiating.
Burial was at Holly Hill Memorial Park, Middleburg.

Hardage-Giddens Rivermead Funeral Home, 127 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, Fla., was in charge of arrangements.
James E. Flora
James Ed Flora, 88, formerly of Posey Hill in Roanoke, died at 6 a.m. Sunday (Feb. 6, 2000) at the United Methodist Memorial Home in Warren, where he was a resident.
Mr. Flora was employed at the Ball Brothers Glass Corp., Muncie, for 20 years; was a former owner of the Village Inn, Roanoke; and was the owner of the Roanoke Dairy from 1950-60. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Roanoke, for 49 years.
He was born June 3, 1911, in Muncie to George P. Flora and Ermal McCarey Flora. He married Leona E. Brown June 10, 1932, in Muncie. His wife survives and lives in Warren.
Also surviving are a son, Dan E. Flora, Roanoke; a daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Marjorie) Sweatland, Tampa, Fla.; three grandsons and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jackie Paul Flora; a brother, John Flora; and a sister, Marcella Gagnon.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, with a vigil service at 3:30 p.m., at the Roanoke Memorial Chapel, 240 Crestwood Dr., Roanoke.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with calling one-half hour prior to services, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 641 N. Main St., Roanoke. Father Kenneth Sarrazine will officiate.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Church Cemetery, Roanoke.
Preferred memorials are to the Hospice of Berne.
Barbara K. Paul
Barbara K. Paul, 42, 1229 W. Joe St., died at 11:35 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 3, 2000) at Huntington Memorial Hospital.
She was employed by United Technologies in Huntington and had formerly worked at Magnetek for more than 20 years. She was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 983. She was a lifetime resident of Huntington, graduating from Huntington North High School in 1975.
She was born Oct. 7, 1957, in Huntington to Kenneth L. Paul and Marjorie I. Keplinger Paul.
She is survived by two brothers, James Paul, Richmond, Texas, and Mark Paul, Huntington.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Dr., where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Rev. Steven N. Ailes will officiate.
Burial will be at the Lancaster Cemetery, Huntington County.
