Philip F. Frick

Philip Frederick Frick, 79, Swansboro, N.C., died July 9, 2000, at Cateret General Hospital in Morehead City, N.C.

Mr. Frick, a Huntington native, was a retired production coordinator in the clothing industry. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a Lions Club volunteer for more than 30 years and received the Melvin Jones Fellow and John L. Stickley Fellow awards for dedicated humanitarian service.

Survivors include his wife, Irma H. Frick; two sons, Theodore “Ted” Wayne Frick, Bloomington, and Gregory Brian Frick, Fairfax, Va.; a daughter, Connie Marlene Parrow, Nappanee; two sisters, Rosemary Clugston, Erie, Pa., and Dorothy Chopping, Napa, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

Services were held July 13 at St. Mildred Catholic Church, Swansboro, N.C., with Father Jerry Doyle officiating. Entombment was July 14 at Evergreen memorial Gardens, Wilson, N.C.

Jones Funeral Home, Swansboro, N.C., was in charge of arrangements.

Gerald L. Knight

Gerald L. “Jerry” Knight, 60, Muncie, died Saturday afternoon (July 15, 2000).

Mr. Knight, a Huntington native, had lived in Muncie since 1969. He had been employed by the Erie Railroad in Huntington and Muncie Aviation. He was the chief pilot for Ball Corp. from 1972 until his retirement in 1998 and was currently a member of the Delaware County Airport Authority.

He served in the Navy for four years and was a member of the Muncie Bass Anglers Society, AMVETS Post 12, and North American Fishing Club.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Mary and Paul Leffers, Columbia City.; two sons, Scott Knight and Joseph Knight, both of Muncie; two daughters, Mrs. Mark (Debra) Nichols, Muncie, and Mrs. Scott (Laura) Jones, Clarksville, Tenn.; three sisters, Mrs. Jack (Susan) Solloway, Okeechobee, Fla., Mrs. Ted (Nancy) Poulson, Huntington, and Mrs. Tim (Sara) Ford, Warren; two brothers, John Knight, Tucson, Ariz., and Patrick Leffers, Churubusco; two stepbrothers, Jeffrey Leffers, Fort Wayne, and Mark Leffers, Port Angeles, Wash.; and a grandson.

Calling is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 10:30-11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Meeks Mortuary, 415 E. Washington St., Muncie. Services will be held at the mortuary at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be at Elm Ridge Cemetery, Muncie, with military rites by the Veterans of Delaware County.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the charity of the donor’s choice.

Julie A. Peters Lamb

Julie A. Peters Lamb, 33, 800 Bartlett St., and formerly of Fairmount, died at 12:20 p.m. Friday (July 14, 2000) at Miller’s Merry Manor in Huntington.

Mrs. Lamb had worked as a computer analyst at MagneTek in Huntington. She was a member of the Country Swingers Square Dance Club in Sommerset, the Roanoke Brethren Church and had been active in Grant County 4-H.

She was born Dec. 31, 1966 in Marion, daughter of George and Jane Templeton Peters, who survive in Fairmount. On June 10, 1989, she married Donald Lamb, who survives.

Survivors also include a daughter, Jessica Lamb of Huntington, and a brother, Mark Peters of Fairmount.

Calling is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Armes-Hunt Funeral Home, 415 S. Main St., Fairmount where service is at 10 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. Ron Burns officiating.

Burial will be at Park Cemetery, Fairmount.

Preferred memorial is Cure Huntington’s Disease Foundation, 634S-100W, Orem, Utah 84058.

Oatis L. ‘Zeke’ Reichard

Oatis L. “Zeke” Reichard, 62, Uniondale, died at 2:51 a.m. Sunday (July 16, 2000) at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.

Mr. Reichard worked as a supervisor at the Kmart warehouse, Fort Wayne, for 32 years. He retired in 1991. He also farmed in Wells County. He was a 1955 graduate of Rockford High School, Rockford, Ohio. He was a member of American Legion Post 7 and served overseas as a sergeant in the U.S. Army.

He was born Aug. 24, 1937 in Willshire, Ohio, to Oatis G. and Margaret E. Sinift Reichard. His marriage was March 17, 1976 in Gatlinburg, Tenn., to Treva Rust. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, James F. Reichard, Warsaw, and Gerald F. Reichard, Huntington; four daughters, Mrs. Greg (Yvonne) Barnes, Ossian, Caroline Sparks, Markle, Mrs. Dan (Linda) Scott, Roanoke, and Mrs. Mike (Jennifer) Turner, Uniondale; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Rick (Kristy) Agner, Willshire, Ohio; a brother, Loren Reichard, Roanoke; a sister, Enid Roe, Pleasant Hills; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren,

Calling hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Funeral Home, Markle Chapel. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will at Horeb Cemetery, Uniondale.

Preferred memorials are to Uniondale Volunteer EMS c/o Myers Funeral Home, 415 N. Lee St., Markle, IN 46770.

Wanda A. Galbreath

Wanda A. Galbreath, 70, Columbia City, died at 9:45 a.m. Thursday (July 13, 2000) at the Hospice Home of Northeast Indiana, Fort Wayne.

Mrs. Galbreath was employed for 15 years at the Coil Engineering and Manufacturing Company, Roanoke, and retired in 1992 from Magnavox, rural Columbia City, after 10 years of service. She was a member of Eagles Lodge 1906, Columbia City.

She was born on Oct. 10, 1929, in Huntington, to Ross and Freda Nolan Whitacre. In 1965, she married Carrol Goldwood. He died in 1974. In 1978, she married William G. Galbreath. He survives in Columbia City.

Other survivors include a son, Jerry Whitacre, Andrews; seven stepsons, Carl Goldwood, Max Goldwood and Barry Goldwood, all of Columbia City, Randy Goldwood, Springfield, Mo., Larry Galbreath, Phoenix, Ariz., William Galbreath Jr., Fort Wayne, and Donald Galbreath, of Florida; three stepdaughters, Betty Simon, Larwill, Penny Polley, Carmel, and Sandy Minnick, North Webster; a sister, Maxine Volgehut, Huntington, a brother, Mark Whitacre, Stratford, Conn.; two grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; and several stepgreat-grandchildren.

Besides her first husband, she was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Mary Kay Hartman; a stepson, Donald Goldwood; and a sister, Betty Goodmiller.

Calling is at 6 p.m. Saturday at Smith and Sons Funeral Home, 207 N. Main St., Columbia City, where services will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday with Pastor Alyn Biddle officiating.

There will be no burial.

Preferred memorials are to the Hospice Home of Northeast Indiana.

Willard A. Smith

Willard A. Smith, 86, of Yorktown and formerly of 725 Esther St., died at 3:40 a.m. Friday (July 14, 2000) at Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie.

Funeral services are pending at Bailey-Love Mortuary.

Betty Jean Mote

Betty Jean Mote, 72, Marion, died at 1:03 p.m. Monday (July 10, 2000) at her home.

Mrs. Mote was a homemaker. A graduate of Churubusco High School and a former resident of Fort Wayne, she lived in Marion for 21 years.

She was born on March 17, 1928, in Noble County to George and Effie Owen Kimmel.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Michael (Sheila) Burkhart and Mrs. John (Pam) McIntyre, both of Marion, Mrs. Stuart (Debra) Secttor, Richmond, and Mrs. Christopher (Cindy) Kardatzke-Hohe, Huntington; four sisters, Mrs. Kenneth (Lalia) Hand, Huntertown, Mrs. Ed (Maxine) Collins, Avilla, Mrs. Bob (Margaret) Marshall, Kimmell, and Barbara Ryder, Larwill; one brother, William Kimmel, Churubusco; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

No calling will be held. Private family graveside services and burial will be held at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Noble County.

Preferred memorials are to the Grant-Blackford Mental Health Association or Meals on Wheels.

Needham-Storey Funeral Services, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, is in charge of arrangements.

Dorotha Rennaker

Dorotha Rennaker, 85, rural Marion in Huntington County, died at 9:37 p.m. Monday (July 10, 2000) at Marion General Hospital, Marion.

Mrs. Rennaker was a homemaker. She was a member of the Morris Chapel United Methodist Church, Marion, and was a past worthy matron of Mt. Etna Eastern Star. She was a charter member of the Queen B’s Home Demonstration Club, and a member of the UAW Sympathy Club and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She was born in Grant County on Sept. 19, 1914, to Ed and Minnie Dragstram Foust. On March 2, 1937, she married Virgil Daniel Rennaker Sr., who survives in rural Marion.

Other survivors include a son, V. Daniel Rennaker Jr., Mt. Airy, Ga.; a sister, Mrs. Lewis (Martha) Porter, Marion; a granddaughter and two great-granddaughters.

Calling will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Raven Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Rd., Marion, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Burial will be at Grant Memorial Park, Marion.

Mary Alice Smith

Mary Alice Smith, 70, formerly of Markle, died Monday (July 10, 2000) at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. She was a resident of the Lutheran Home.

Mrs. Smith worked at the Gateway Inn, Fort Wayne. She was a member of the Markle United Methodist Church.

She was born on Oct. 22, 1929, in Ossian, to Forrest and May Woods Coverdale. On June 29, 1963, in Waynedale, she married Richard W. Smith. He died on April 9, 1971.

Survivors include two daughters, Anita L. Smith-Freeman, Fort Wayne, and Terry S. Gladewell, Poplar Bluff, Mo.; a sister, Mrs. U.D. (Laura) Ratliff, Ossian; two brothers, Russell D. Coverdale, Rolling Springs, Pa., and Charles E. Coverdale, Kalamazoo, Mich.; and one grandson.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Coverdale, and a sister, Elizabeth Hershy.

Calling will be from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Thursday at the Myers Funeral Home, Markle Chapel, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday. Rev. S. Chambers will officiate at the service.

Burial will be at the Oak Lawn Cemetery, Ossian.
