Mary Abendroth
VINCENNES - Mary L. Abendroth, 68, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, at her home of cancer.
She retired as a purchasing clerk from Vincennes University.
She was an avid golfer.
Surviving are her husband, Walt Abendroth; three daughters, Julia Recker of Tempe, Ariz., and Carol Phillippe and Kathryn Joice, both of Vincennes; three sons, Eric of Torrance, Calif., Kirk of Vincennes and Michael of Lawrenceville, Ill.; a brother, Rex Breeding of Albuquerque, N.M.; 15 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. EST Monday at First United Methodist Church of Vincennes, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Gardner-Brockman Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Relay for Life or Lincoln Trails Hospice.
Elmo Borchelt
VINCENNES - Elmo W. "Dutch" Borchelt, 92, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville, Ill.
He retired as a prison guard from the Illinois Department of Corrections.
He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran and was a member of Vincennes Moose Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 886 in Pontiac, Ill., Vincennes 40 et 8 Post 107, Lawrenceville American Legion Post 28, Pup Tent 48, Third Degree of military Order of Cooties, Order of the Eagles 2481 and the National Sheriffs Association.
Surviving are a daughter, Judith Wagoner of Okemos, Mich.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Fay (Dillon) Borchelt.
Graveside services will be at a later date. There will be no visitation at Gardner-Brockman Funeral Home.
Minnie Altheide
Minnie P. Altheide, 95, of Evansville, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at Westpark Rehabilitation Center. She had owned and operated Althei- de Greenhouse and was a member of St. Peter's United Methodist Church in St. Philip, Ind.
Surviving are her caregivers, Dan, Rose Marie and Jeff Horstman and Jayne Allerellie.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter's United Methodist Church in St. Philip, the Rev. Steve Jasper officiating, with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel and from 10 a.m. to service time at the church.

Carol Grannan
Carol A. Grannan, 40, of Evansville, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Ind., of injuries from an automobile accident near Russell-ville, Ill.
She was a graduate of Bosse High School and attended the University of Southern Indiana.
Surviving are two daughters, Abby and Andrea Grannan, both of Evansville; two sons, Gene Grannan of Evansville and Bill Hunsaker Jr. of Lawrenceville, Ill.; and two brothers, Edward and Dale Williams, both of Evansville.
Graveside services will be at 1:15 p.m. today in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Loretta Ekstein
Loretta M. Ekstein, 92, of Evansville, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at her home of heart failure.
She was a member of St. Benedict Cathedral and former member of the Purdue Homemakers Extension Club.
Surviving are four daughters, Mary Jane Ekstein of Annapolis, Md., Kathleen Spence of Dallas, Carolyn Stout of Frankfort, Ind., and Suzanne Tempel of Evansville; a sister, Geneva Farrar of Evansville; two brothers, Urban and the Rev. Raymond Reising, both of Evansville; seven grandchildren, Jay and Peter Spence, Dr. Michael B. and Sara Tempel and Mark, Anne and John Stout; and two great-grandchildren. Her husband, Herman John, died in 1997.
Services will be at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, continuing at 9 a.m. at St. Benedict Cathedral, with entombment in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, with a 6 p.m. memorial service.

Frances Greathouse
Frances L. Greathouse, 78, of Pasadena, Texas, formerly of Evansville, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001, at St. Luke's Hospital in Pasadena of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
She had been a seamstress, was a member of St. Pius V Catholic Church in Pasadena and St. Anthony Catholic Church in Evansville.
Surviving are a daughter, Cindy York of Pasadena; a son, Roy E. Jr. of Morganhill, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Roy E. III, Dannielle, Kristine, Nicole and Patrick Greathouse, David W. Stone II and Jonathan York; and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Oak Hill Cemetery, the Rev. Jay Davidson officiating. There will be no visitation at Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel.
Infant Dominic Lowe
Dominic Marquis Lowe, daughter of Brian Lowe and Sarah Eller, both of Evansville, was stillborn Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at The Women's Hospital.
Also surviving are grandparents, Patricia Walker, James Lowe and June and Ted Eller; and great-grandparents.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Oak Hill Cemetery, the Rev. Carl Walker officiating.
There will be no visitation at Alexander Funeral Home North Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Liberty Baptist Church in Boonville, Ind.
Richard Churchwell
Richard M. Churchwell, 77, of Evansville, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital of cancer.
He retired as a frac operator after 32 years with Halliburton Services.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred; two daughters, Candy Sturm of Atlanta and Susan Wenzel of Carmi, Ill.; three stepdaughters, Kay Weiss, Peggy Mock and Becky Lenahand; two sons, Gary of California, and Richard of Indianapolis; a stepson, Jerry Rawslinson of Madison, Ala.; two sisters, Marilyn Schneider of Evansville and Clara Gemond of Manteno, Ill.; two brothers, Howard Jr. and Tommy, both of Carmi; seven grandchildren, Kelli Chapman, Kathi Wenzel, Kerri Sykes, Geoffrey, Sarah and Christy Sturm and Kristen Churchwell; and three great-grandchildren. His first wife, Jean (Perkins), died in 1987.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Big Prairie Cemetery
in Carmi, handled by Campbell Funeral Home.
Alberta Slatton
Alberta Nellie Slatton, 95, of Evansville, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at Regina Continuing Care Center.
She retired from the A&P and had worked for Economy Foods and IGA Foods.
She was a member of the Daughters of the Nile, Dale (Ind.) United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and attended Evansville's Methodist Temple. She was a volunteer for the Evansville Association for the Blind.
Surviving is a niece, Nadine Behrens. Her husband, Cecil, died in 1961.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Fairmont Cemetery
in Huntingburg, Ind.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel.

Fern Mielsenheldon
OAKLAND CITY - Fern Mielsenheldon, 88, of Pueblo, Colo., formerly of Oakland City, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, in Colorado.
She had operated a beauty shop in Oakland City and was a former member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church.
Surviving are a brother, Fred Deitchley of Denver, Colo.; and nieces and nephews. Her husband, Kenneth, died in 1967.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. EST Thursday in Walnut Hills Cemetery
in Petersburg. Harris Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
