Sara A. ‘Sally’ Eichhorn

Sara A. “Sally” Eichhorn, 94, died at 2:10 a.m. Friday (Feb. 9, 2001) at the United Methodist Memorial Home, Warren, where she resided. She was a former resident of Byron Street in Huntington.

Mrs. Eichhorn was a homemaker. She was a member of the St. Peter’s First United Church of Christ and the Order of Eastern Star Floral Chapter 75, both in Huntington.

She was born on Dec. 29, 1906, in Swayzee, to Andrew and Emma Dibert Ebert. On Dec. 2, 1939, in Covington, Ky., she married Don E. Eichhorn. He died on May 5, 1992.

Survivors include a daughter, Imogene Engle, Port Richey, Fla.; one grandson; one great-grandson; and a brother, Fred Ebert, Huntington.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Eichhorn and Grace Louise Ebert, and a brother, Asa Ebert.

Calling will be from 10 a.m. Monday until the 2 p.m. funeral services at Deal-Robbins & Van Gilder Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel. Rev. Jonathan Heaslet will officiate at the service.

Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter’s First United Church of Christ, 205 Etna Ave., Huntington, IN 46750.

Mary C. Ellison

Mary C. Ellison, 82, of Liberty Center, died at 7 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 10, 2001) at her home.

Mrs. Ellison was a member of the Montpelier Nazarene Church. She had lived most of her life in Nottingham Township, Wells County, before moving to Liberty Center. She had spent the winter months in Winter Haven, Fla., for several years.

She was born Jan. 22, 1919 in Blackford County to Herman and Edith Rogers Teagle. She graduated from Monteplier High School in 1937. She married Eugene Ellison May 28, 1938. Her husband survives.

Also surviving are a son, Stanley Ellison, Bluffton; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Phyllis) Binegar, Bryant; a sister, Mabel Rhoton, Montpelier; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth Barrington, Frances Forrester and Pauline Teagle; and a granddaughter.

Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Glancy Funeral Homes, Walker Chapel, 109 W. Windsor St., Montpelier, where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Wilbur Taylor will officiate. Burial will be at Brookside Memorial Park, Montpelier.

Preferred memorials are to the Family Hospice of Northeast Indiana, 1521 W. Main St., Berne, IN 46711.

Dortha O. Jackson

Dortha O. Jackson, 85, a resident of the United Methodist Memorial Home, Warren, died at 1 p.m Saturday (Feb. 10, 2001) at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

Mrs. Jackson was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church, Montpelier. She was a former member of the Modern Homemakers Home Ec Club, Montpelier. She had been a resident of Montpelier prior to moving to the United Methodist Memorial Home seven years ago.

She was born Jan. 6, 1916 in Bluffton to Walter and Cora Bell Murray Carnes. She graduated from Chester Center School, Wells County. She married Herman J. Jackson Aug. 15, 1943 in Van Buren. Her husband died May 21, 1976.

Survivors include a son, Don Jackson, Montpelier; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Thelma Bower, Bertha Pond and Argarite Williamson; and two brothers, Clyde Carnes and Fred Carnes.

Calling is 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Glancy Funeral Homes, Walker Chapel, 109 W. Windsor St., Montpelier, where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Rev. Frank Rodgers will officiate. Burial will be at Brookside Memorial Park, Montpelier.

Preferred memorials are to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 113 E. Huntington St., Montpelier, IN 47359.

Maymie L. McClain

Funeral services for Maymie L. McClain were held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Glancy Funeral Homes, Walker Chapel, Montpelier, with Rev. Bob Bothast officiating. Burial was at the Twin Hill Cemetery, Pennville.

Pallbearers were Brian McClain, Jason McClain, Jeff McClain, Jerry McClain, Jody McClain, Randy McClain, Rex McClain, Shawn McClain, Terry McClain, Todd McClain, Tracy McClain, Travis McClain and Troy McClain.

Maymie L. McClain, 88, of Montpelier, died at 8:53 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 8, 2001) at the Blackford County Hospital in Hartford City.

Mrs. McClain had worked at Sheller Globe, Montpelier, from 1949 until retiring in 1975. She attended Ridertown United Brethren Church, Dunkirk.

She was born Aug. 13, 1912 in Jay County to Joseph Edward and Mary Elizabeth Coleman Bricker. She attended Trenton School, Trenton. She married Dewey Leo Lewis McClain Dec. 13, 1931 in Winchester. Her husband died May 22, 1952.

She is survived by six sons, James E. McClain, Orland, Leo D. McClain, Bellfast, Tenn., Douglas W. McClain, Hartford City, and Adelma R. McClain, Keith A. McClain and Truman J. McClain, all of Montpelier; a daughter, Mrs. Floyd (Betty L.) Sills, Montpelier; six sisters, Georgia M. Knuckols, Millgrove, Alma I. Knuckols, Parker City, Mrs. Bill (Elwanda L.) Kelly, Trenton, and Mrs. Andy (Gladys) Qualls, Mrs. Paul (June E.) Wilson and Bonnie M. Disinger, all of Dunkirk; 22 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Norman D. McClain; a sister, Gertrude M. Ford; a grandson; and three great-grandchildren.

Patrick M. Sizemore

Patrick Michael Sizemore, 23, Churubusco, died Thursday (Feb. 8, 2001) in a traffic accident in Whitley County.

Mr. Sizemore was employed as a welder for Advance Mixer Company, Churubusco.

He was born on Dec. 12, 1977, in Fort Wayne. His mother, Cyndi Coffelt, survives in Roanoke. His father, Douglas Sizemore, survives in Conners, Ga. His wife, Shantell M. Sizemore, survives in Churubusco.

Additional survivors include two sons, Adrian Michael Sizemore and Alexander Paige Sizemore, both at home; two brothers, Daniel Bornkamp, Churubusco, and David Bornkamp, Roanoke; a sister, Emily Brady, Fort Wayne; and his grandparents, Patsy Coffelt, address not given, and Al and Carol Knapp, Columbia City.

Calling will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. Monday services at C.M. Sloan and Sons Funeral Home, 1327 Wells St., Fort Wayne.

Burial will be at Eel River Cemetery, Churubusco.

Preferred memorials are gifts to Adrian and Alexander Sizemore.

Roberta R. Wimmer

Roberta Ruth Wimmer, 66, 6139S-600W, Mt. Etna, died Wednesday (Feb. 7, 2001) at East Pasco Medical Center, Zephyrhills, Fla.

Mrs. Wimmer had operated the Back Door Bakery in Mt. Etna since 1996. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Etna United Methodist Church, where she was a church pianist for 31 years.

She was born July 15, 1934, in Howard County, a daughter of Dayrell and Ruth Salsbery Murphy. She married Gene O. Wimmer July 24, 1955, at the Hemlock Friends Church in Hemlock, Ind.; her husband survives.

Additional survivors include three sons, Rick Wimmer of Greenwood, Rod Wimmer of Nashville, Tenn., and Rob Wimmer of Greentown; a daughter, Amy Wimmer Schwarb, St. Pete Beach, Fla.; a brother, Gene Murphy, Greentown; and four grandchildren.

Calling is 3-8 p.m. Monday at Hart Funeral Home and from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at the Mt. Etna United Methodist Church. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Rev. Tim Prowse will officiate. Burial will be at the Mt. Etna Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Etna United Methodist Church Building Fund.

Jean A. Burkey

Jean Alice Burkey, 78, Adrian, Mich., died Thursday (Feb. 8, 2001) at her home.

Mrs. Burkey was an elementary teacher and had taught at Alexander School, Adrian, Mich., from 1967-85. She was a member of the Fellowship Bible Church, Adrian, which her husband founded. She was also a member of the Women’s Missionary Society, Business and Professional Women, the American Association of University Women, the Michigan Education Association, and the National Education Association, and a long-time member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Mayflower Society. She spent 50 years as a pastor’s wife and was involved in many aspects of church work. She graduated from the Evangelical Free Church Academy, Chicago, in 1939. She earned a bachelor of science in education, magna cum laude, at Huntington College in 1962 and earned her master’s degree from Eastern Michigan University in 1972.

She was born April 19, 1922 in Plymouth to Eldon Dale and Elizabeth Taylor Rock Scott. She lived in Chicago from 1933-45. She married Dr. Edmund C. Burkey in Chicago on April 5, 1942. Her husband survives.

Also surviving are a son, David L. Burkey, Lexington, Ky.; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Pamela S.) Swenor, Charlevoix, Mich.; a sister, Lou Ella Mikesell, Denver, Colo.; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Greta Scott, Geraldine Hubbard and Genevieve Scott; and a brother, Kingsley Scott.

Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Braun Everiss Wagley Funeral Home, Adrian, Mich., where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. Rev. Russell Birdsall and Dr. Howard Cherry will officiate. Burial will follow at the Raisin Valley Cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to the Fellowship Bible Church, Adrian, or the Hospice of Lenawee, c/o Braun Everiss Wagley Funeral Home, 1501 W. Maumee St., Adrian, MI 49221.

Ronald B. Smith

Services for Ronald B. Smith, 56, Roswell, Ga., were held Dec. 27 at the Roswell Funeral Home. Burial was in the Green Lawn Cemetery, Roswell.

Mr. Smith, a former resident of Huntington, died at 12:20 p.m. Dec. 22, 2000, at the Fulton County Hospital, Roswell.

He was a self-employed truck driver and an Army veteran. He attended Huntington High School.

Mr. Smith was born Aug. 18, 1944, in Huntington, to Gerald and Naomi Rittenhouse Smith. He married Martha Hogan Nov. 3, 1967, in Washington state; his wife survives.

Also surviving are a son, Michael D. Smith, Lemoore, Calif.; five sisters, Carol Dinius and Karen Payne, Huntington, Sonja Tabbert, Toledo, Ohio, Cheryl Miller, Fort Wayne, and Candy Wajer, Mt. Clemons, Mich.; and a brother, Randy Smith, Toledo, Ohio.

Preferred memorials are to the National Kidney Foundation, 1655 Tullie Circle NE, Atlanta, GA 30329.
