Joseph Krygielka
Joseph V. Krygielka, 88, of Newburgh, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at the Angel River Health & Rehabilita- tion Center. He retired in 1976 after 18 years with Saginaw (Mich.) Steering Gear.
He was a member of the St. Casimir Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society and a life member of the Brothers of Kosciuszko Pulaski Club and Falcon Nest 124.
Surviving are a son, Robert of Evansville; three sisters, Celia Imker and Rose Taylor, both of Cadillac, Mich., and Ramona Vance of Saginaw; a brother, Louis of AuGres, Mich.; three grandchildren, Dawn Courtney, Michelle Roybal and Greg Krygielka; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. His wife of 62 years, Agnes (Sowulewski), died in 1997.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Saginaw, with burial Mount Olivet Cemetery
there.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with a vigil service at 7 p.m., at the Snow Funeral Home in Saginaw and from 10:30 to service time at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Hospital Foundation or the Arthritis Foundation.
Margaret Rodenhouse
PETERSBURG - Margaret G. (Bell) Rodenhouse, 84, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at Petersburg Health Care.
She was a member of the Free Methodist Church.
Surviving are a son, Robert of Holland; a sister, Reba Stafford of Petersburg; three brothers, Blythe, Gordon and Jim Bell, all of Petersburg; and three grandchildren, Joshua, Natalie and Ashley Rodenhouse. A son, Glenn Bell, preceded her in death.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. EST Wednesday in Walnut Hills Cemetery.

Edmund Walker
VINCENNES - Edmund Peter Walker, 96, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at Good Samaritan Hospital.
He retired after 46 years with the Schultheis Furniture Store.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, St. Vincent DePaul Society and was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus.
Surviving are a son, Gary of LaGrange, Ill.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson. His wife, Pearl "Sally" (LaSalle), died in 1971.
Services will be at 10 a.m. EST Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at Gardner-Brockman Funeral Home.

Christopher Bische
CHANDLER - Christopher J. Bische, 24, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at his home of a self inflicted gunshot wound.
He was a sheet metal worker for Industrial Contractors Local 20 and member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Holland.
He was a hunter and fisherman.
Surviving are his parents, John and Donna Bische of Chandler; two sisters, Angela Barnhart of Lynnville and Cathie Thomas of Boonville; grandparents, Clayton and Doris Peters; nephews; and his fiancee, Julie Lockridge.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Koehler Funeral Home Boonville Chapel, with burial in St. Paul's Cemetery
in Holland.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Samuel Kirkwood
Samuel R. Kirkwood, 72, of Evansville, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at his home of complications of a stroke.
He retired from Local 561 as a concrete finisher in 1976 after 23 years.
He was a
Korean War veteran, serving in the Marines from 1950 to 1954.
He was an All-City Football player for Central High School in 1947, and was a past president of the Central High School Baseball Booster Club, where he was instrumental in establishing the Central Baseball Field.
He was a member of North Park Baptist Church, where he formerly served as a deacon.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Camilla; two daughters, Teresa Litherland and Roxanne Dawson, both of Evansville; two sons, Douglas and Scott, both of Evansville; 12 grandchildren, Laura Francis, April Wallace, Brandi Litherland, Christopher and Drew Dawson and Brittney, Samuel, Austin, Kayla, Kendra, Katelyn and Konner Kirkwood; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Alexander Funeral Home North Chapel, the Rev. Arthur Christmas officiating, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.

Dorothy Deffendoll
Dorothy E. Deffendoll, 81, of Evansville, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center.
She had worked at Bob's Ceramic Shop and was a member of Free Pentecostal Church. She enjoyed crafts.
Surviving are five daughters, Dorothy Rae Tipton, Charlotte Young, Judy Morrow and Rita Williamson, all of Evansville, and Cathy Colter of Dale, Ind.; two sons, Charles and Jack "Butch," both of Evansville; a sister, Margie Pfingston of Evansville; 18 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel, the Revs. Allan Meinschein and Gordan DeTalente officiating, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park.

Zelda Nester
Zelda Stitzman Nester, 96, of Evansville, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at Parkview Care Center.
She retired from American Dairy.
Surviving are a stepdaughter, Geraldine Clayton of Evansville; and a niece, Deanna Johnson of Lutz, Fla.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Simpson-Meyer Funeral Home, the Rev. John Enlow officiating, with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery.

Charles Smeltzer
Charles W. Smeltzer, 77, of Evansville, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital of complications of cancer.
He was a World War II Marine, 1949 graduate of Millikin University in Decatur, Ill., and member of Simpson United Methodist Church and past master of the Decatur Masonic Lodge 8.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth (Barnes); a daughter, Jewell Smeltzer of Superior, Wis.; a son, Bill of Norma, Ill.; his mother, Fay Gifford Smeltzer of Decatur; two sisters, Patricia Warnke of Chicago and Georgia Morford of Decatur; a brother, George Gifford Smeltzer of Monitcello, Ill.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. A son, David, died in 1993.
There will be no service or visitation at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel.
