Frank L. Pyle Sr.
Retired Huntington businessman Frank L. Pyle Sr. died at 6:06 p.m. Wednesday (April 11, 2001) at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was 89.
Mr. Pyle was active in the manufacturing of loudspeakers for most of his life. He founded Pyle Industries Inc. of Huntington in 1973 and served as president and later as chairman of the board. He was the owner and president of the Utah-American Corporation from 1962-71, and he had formerly been affiliated with the Caswell-Runyan and Utah Radio Divisions of Detrola in Huntington. Prior to coming to Huntington in 1948, he had been involved in the electronics field in Tennessee, California and Michigan. He retired in 1986.
Mr. Pyle was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Huntington and a member of former Huntington Elks Club 805. He was active in numerous civic activities, including serving as general chairman of the Huntington United Way Fund campaign in 1968. He was president of the American Loudspeakers Manufacturers Association in 1968.
He was born Jan. 24, 1912, in Chicago to Clarence Lester and Gertrude Bardarish Pyle. He graduated from Hyde Park High School in Chicago in 1929 and also graduated from the Watkins Institute of Technology in Nashville, Tenn.
His first marriage was to Goldie M. Neeley on March 27, 1929, in Franklin, Tenn. She died Nov. 15, 1972. His second marriage was to Ruby R. Grice Bucher on May 16, 1975, in Huntington. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Frank L. Pyle Jr. and William H. Pyle, both of Huntington, and Thomas E. Pyle, Fort Wayne; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
Calling is from 2-8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. funeral service Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church, 50 E. Tipton St. Rev. Frank Gready and Rev. Alan Pareis will officiate.
Entombment will be at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

Michael K. Ott I
Michael Kent Ott I, 59, 1570 Etna Ave., died at 5:50 p.m. Tuesday (April 10, 2001) at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
A lifetime Huntington resident, Mr. Ott was an engineer with Conrail and Norfolk Southern Railroad, where he had been employed for more than 41 years. He started as a fireman with the Erie-Lackawanna Railroad. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Huntington, the National Rifle Association, and the Brotherhood of Local Engineers union in Elkhart. He was a graduate of Huntington Township High School and an Army veteran.
He was born on July 13, 1941, in Huntington, to Pete and Thelma Heller Ott. On Nov. 23, 1998, in Nashville, Tenn., he married Kay Crozier. She survives.
Other survivors include four sons, Robin Stonebraker, Dan K. Ott and Michael K. Ott II, all of Huntington, and Dirk C. Ott, Anacoco, La.; two daughters, Mrs. Ken (Dawn M.) Chapin, Corpus Christi, Texas, and Mrs. Chris (Candace D.) Long, Huntington; a stepson, Ron Morris Jr., Huntington; a stepdaughter, Jessica Morris, Huntington; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Ann Nichols.
Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bailey-Love Mortuary, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday.
The place of burial will be announced at a later date.

Gilbert A. ‘Gillie’ Wallace
Gilbert A. “Gillie” Wallace, 72, 190 Wabash Ave., Andrews, died at 4 p.m. Thursday (April 12, 2001) at his home.
Mr. Wallace had been a machine operator at United Technologies, Andrews, for 13 years. Before that he worked three years for the Indiana State Highway Department and for 19 years at Locke Steel Chain, Huntington.
He was born June 25, 1928, in Anderson, to Theodore and Stella Puckett Wallace. His marriage was July 1, 1946, in Anderson, to the former Dorothy L. Coons. She survives.
Also surviving are a son, Russell Wallace, Andrews; a daughter, Mrs. Allen (Ellen) Fisher, Peru; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and two stepsons, Melvin Lee, McAndrews, Ky., and Larry Reichenbaugh, Fort Wayne.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and nine brothers.
A private family graveside service will be held later.
Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Andrews.

Mark A. Felger
Mark A. Felger, 38, Fort Wayne, died Wednesday (April 11, 2001) at his home.
Mr. Felger was the operations manager for Pizza Hut in Fort Wayne, where he had worked for 10 years. He had most recently worked at the Northcrest Pizza Hut in Fort Wayne and had also worked at the Pizza Huts in Hartford City, Huntington and Berne. He served in the U.S. Air Force.
He was born Aug. 2, 1962, in Fort Wayne.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Mike and Brenda Felger, Warren; his mother and stepfather, Barbara and Melvin Lorman, Fort Wayne; a sister, Julie Felger-Conrady, Fort Wayne; and his grandmothers, Lillie Roller, Fort Wayne, and Betty Felger, Avilla.
Calling is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday and from 2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. funeral service Monday at the C.M. Sloan and Sons Funeral Home, 1327 Wells St., Fort Wayne.
Burial will be at Perry Township Cemetery, Huntertown.
Kathryn E. Elkins
Kathryn E. Chamberlin Elkins, 83, Dayton, Ind., died at 1:11 a.m. Thursday (April 12, 2001) at Home Hospital, Lafayette.
She was born April 1, 1913, in Crane Station, Ind. She married Allen E. Elkins April 1, 1939, in Frankfort. He died Dec. 11, 1986.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Fritz (Janice) Dell, Patchogue, N.Y., and Sharon Kay, Huntington; a sister, Annabelle Schuessler, Lafayette; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A brother, Charles Chamberlin, is deceased.
Calling is from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Hippensteel Funeral Home, 822 N. Ninth St., Lafayette, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday with Rev. Steven Ailes officiating.
Burial will be at Stockwell Cemetery. Tippecanoe County.
Memorials may be made to the Oncology Institute of Lafayette.
Ermadell Boyer
Ermadell Boyer, 84, Marion, died at 7:50 a.m. Wednesday, (April 11, 2001) at the Bradner Village Health Care Center in Marion.
Mrs. Boyer had been employed by the Foster Forbes Glass Company, Marion, for more than 30 years, retiring in 1977. She had lived in Marion since 1936.
She was born April 28, 1916, in Arlington, Ind., to John and Ruth Eaton. She married Wilbur Boyer on Oct. 5, 1945. He died in May 1974.
Survivors include two stepdaughters, Mrs. Robert (Carol) Satterthwaite, Andrews, and Bonita Angstadt, Muncie; a stepson, Harold Boyer, Stafford, Texas; eight grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
Calling is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion., where services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday with Dr. Donald Batz officiating.
Graveside services will be at the Arlington Cemetery, Arlington, Ind., at 12:30 p.m.

James H. Votaw
James H. Votaw, 76, Fort Wayne, died Sunday (April 15, 2001) at his home.
He was the founder and former president of Votaw & Sons Electric, Inc., Fort Wayne. He was involved with the firm for 20 years, retiring in 1988.
Mr. Votaw was a native of Marion and a former resident of the Huntington area. He was a 32nd Degree Mason with the Roanoke Lodge and a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Fort Wayne. He raised Arabian horses.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret "Peggy" Votaw; three sons, Dan Votaw, Mike Votaw, and Tom Votaw, all of Fort Wayne; a daughter, Becky Burleton, Indianapolis; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Calvin Votaw and Gene Votaw. Calling is 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Rd., Fort Wayne. Services will be private. Burial will be at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.

Don H. Miller
Don H. Miller, 85, a resident of Irish Lake, died at 7:32 p.m. Saturday (April 14, 2001) at his home.
Mr. Miller was first employed by the Allen Insurance Agency Inc., Huntington. He then moved to Marion where he was employed for 39 years by the Local Finance Corporation, serving as president, general manager and director from 1958 until his retirement in December 1975. He had also been president of the Grand National Life Insurance Company and president of the Guardian Agency Inc.
He served as the Indiana State Insurance Commissioner from 1982-86; director of the Marion Federal Savings and Loan Association of Grant County; director of Bell Fibre Products Inc., Marion; president and director of the National Consumer Finance Association (NCFA) and Indiana Consumer Finance Association (ICFA); vice president and director of the Michigan Consumer Finance Association (MCFA). He had served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the South Pacific during World War II.
He served as president and director of the Marion Chamber of Commerce, Marion General Hospital, and the United Fund; secretary and director of the Marion Kiwanis Club; served on the advisory committee for Marion College and Vincennes University; and had been a member of the board of trustees of the First United Methodist Church in Marion. He attended the North Webster United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Marion American Legion Post; Hanna Lodge 651 F&AM, Wabash; the Scottish Rite and Mizpah Shrine, Fort Wayne; Meshingomesia Country Club, Marion; the Mecca Club; and the North Webster Kiwanis Club.
He was born Sept. 12, 1915, in Huntington to Ardo F. and Hazel Thomson Miller. He graduated from high school in Huntington. His first marriage was to Crystal W. White on March 22, 1934. They spent most of their married life in Marion, moving to Irish Lake in 1986. His wife died Aug. 21, 1998. His second marriage was to Ann McPartland on Feb. 3, 2001. She survives.
Also surviving are a son, Timothy Don Miller, Fishers; two stepsons, Steve Riffle, Bellevue, Ohio, and Craig Riffle, Goshen; a stepdaughter, Lori Mahr, Ireland; a brother, Robert F. Miller, Boytan Beach, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Paul (Margaret) Hansen, Cheyenne, Wyoming; five granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah Jane O’Connell; and a brother, Clifford Miller.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, with a memorial service conducted by Hanna Lodge 651 at 8:15 p.m., at the Smith and Sons Miller Chapel, 208 N. Maple St., South Whitley. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Janet G. Brown officiating. Burial will be at the South Whitley Cemetery
with American Legion Post 253 presenting military honors.
