Richard Wilson

Richard Wilson, 72, 3720N Norwood Rd., died at 11:15 a.m. Thursday (April 19, 2001) at Norwood Nursing Center.

Mr. Wilson was an inspector at Dana Corporation, Fort Wayne, for 30 years, and was an owner of Dick’s Garage, Huntington.

He was born on Jan. 29, 1929, in Huntington, to Carl Wilson and Evelyn Jones Wilson. On June 25, 1945, in Kentucky, he married Ruby J. Giddens. She died on Dec. 10, 2000.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Ray (Evelyn) Gressley, Huntington; two sons, Mike Wilson and Tim Wilson, both of Huntington; three daughters, Mrs. Richard (Kelly) Tyler, Andrews, Mrs. George (Linda) Ralston, Van Buren, and Cheryl Christner, LaGrange; a brother, Carl Wilson, of Florida; and a sister, Gloria Adkins, Albion; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lou Ann Hall, and a brother, Clyde Wilson.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Lancaster Cemetery, Lancaster, with Rev. Joe Sumwalt presiding. There is no calling.

Burial will be at the Lancaster Cemetery.

Deal-Robbins & Van Gilder Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.

Constance Shores

Constance Shores, 90, formerly of 508 E. Market St., died at 1 p.m. Sunday (April 22, 2001) at the Norwood Nursing Center.

Mrs. Shores retired from the Schacht Rubber Company and had also been employed in the cafeteria at Victory Noll. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, where she was a member of the choir.

She was born Aug. 29, 1910, in Huntington to Charles and Agnes Miller Wolter. She married Laymon Shores, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Thomas Shores, Huntington; and two grandsons.

She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Shores; three brothers, Louis Wolter, Edward Wolter and Taz Wolter; and two sisters, Mrs. Bernard (Mary) Kroeger and Bernadette Goss.

Calling is 4-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, with Rosary at 6 p.m., at Hart Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry St., with Father Ron Rieder officiating.

Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to Pathfinder Services Inc., P.O. Box 1001, Huntington, IN 46750.

Sharon S. Settle

Sharon S. Settle, 58, Bluffton, died at 3:20 p.m. Saturday (April 21, 2001) at the Bluffton Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Settle was a teacher for 34 years, having taught fourth grade at Ossian, Lincoln, Lancaster and Central schools. She retired from the Huntington County Community School Corporation in 1998. She graduated from East Rock Creek High School in 1960 and Huntington College in 1964, and earned her master’s degree from St. Francis College in 1969. She was a member of the Markle Church of Christ; Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, Alpha Zeta Chapter; Indiana State Retired Teachers Association; Huntington County Retired Teachers Association; and Wells County Retired Teachers Association. She was a volunteer at the Bluffton Library.

She was born July 15, 1942, in Huntington to Theodore L. and Dorella J. Mitten Cox. She married Robert D. Settle on June 15, 1986, in Huntington. Her husband survives.

Other survivors include a stepdaughter, Mrs. Troy (Sheila) Geisel, Craigville; a stepson, Douglas L. Settle, Fort Wayne; and a sister, Carmy McKean, Decatur.

Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Gerald Moreland will officiate.

Burial will be at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to Riley Children’s Hospital or the Markle Park Association, in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington, IN 46750.

Patricia A. Bever

Patricia A. Bever, 60, Wabash, died at 12:30 p.m. Saturday (April 21, 2001) at the Wabash Skilled Care Center, Wabash.

Mrs. Bever had been employed with the Wabash City School Corporation for 27 years, most recently serving as manager of the schools’ cafeterias. She had served as a volunteer for the Wabash area Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Brownies. She was a past member of the Cherokee Kickers/Renegades Line Dance Club.

She was born Sept. 21, 1940, in Huntington to Lemoine Lewis and Helen Ellet Fulton. She married Edwin Robert Bever in Huntington on May 10, 1959. Her husband survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Daryl (Teresa) Grimm and Mrs. Jon (Tracey) Denney, both of Wabash; a son, Randel R. Bever, Wabash; a brother, Robert L. Fulton, Peru; and four grandchildren.

A sister, Betty Lu Clymer, preceded her in death.

Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Avenue Chapel, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash, where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. David Phillips will officiate.

Entombment will be at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to the Wabash County Hospital Oncology Department, in care of Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Avenue Chapel, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash, IN 46992.

Paul J. Bischoff

Paul J. Bischoff, 89, 1156 Engle St., died at 10:20 a.m. Monday (April 23, 2001) at his home.

Mr. Bischoff was a retired employee of the Home Lumber Co. He had also been employed at the Daley Shoe Co. in Marion, Farmer’s Guide, Caswell-Runyan, the Huntington Shoe Co., and the Huntington Lumber Co. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church.

He was born Oct. 16, 1911, in Huntington, to William G. and Caroline Thieme Bischoff. He married Austa Mae Riggers April 29, 1950, at St. Peter Lutheran Church. His wife preceded him in death June 15, 1993.

Survivors include two sons, John W. Bischoff and James S. Bischoff, both of Huntington, and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Lynn Bischoff; two sisters, Luella Kirsch and Renetta Bischoff; and five brothers, Theodore Bischoff, Edgar Bischoff, Rudolph Bischoff, Herbert Bischoff, and Christian Bischoff.

Calling will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hart Funeral Home. There will also be calling one hour from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter Lutheran Church. Services will be held at the church at 10 a.m. Thursday with Rev. Robert Meyer officiating. Burial will be at the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to St. Peter Lutheran Church or St. Peter Lutheran School.

Vivian W. Krause

Vivian Winifred Krause, 83, a resident of the Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, died there at 3:10 a.m. Tuesday (April 24, 2001).

Mrs. Krause was a licensed practical nurse and had worked at Miller’s Merry Manor, Huntington, for 18 years. She retired in 1986.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Huntington, and was a deacon and president of the Women’s Society at the church. She was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, Huntington, and had been a Cub Scout leader. She graduated from Huntington High School in 1935.

She was born Sept. 11, 1917, in Huntington, to Joseph M. Harrell and Lena May Smith Guethler. She married Herbert Krause Oct. 31, 1937, in Huntington; her husband died Nov. 2, 1972.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ellen Little, Thousand Oaks, Calif.; a son, Philip Krause, Huntington; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, John Guethler and Richard Guethler, and a sister, Marion Radziewicz.

Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Deal-Robbins and Van Gilder Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel. An Order of Eastern Star service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Additional calling is 9-10 a.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church, 50 E. Tipton St. Services will be held at the church at 10 a.m. Friday, with Rev. Robert Schmeiser officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Huntington Hospice in care of Deal-Robbins and Van Gilder Funeral Home, 338 E. Washington St., Huntington IN 46750.

Delmar L. Glick

Delmar L. Glick, 88, Roanoke, died Tuesday (April 24, 2001) at Lutheran Hospital.

Mr. Glick was a farmer and was a retired employee of C&M Plating, Roanoke. He was a member of Seminary United Methodist Church in Roanoke, the Mizpah Temple, Order of the Eastern Star, Scottish Rite of Fort Wayne, Roanoke Masonic Lodge 195 F. & A. M., and the York Rite of Indiana.

He was born Dec. 27, 1912, in Whitley County, to Howard and Goldie Gillam Glick.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Linda) Battershell, Roanoke, and Mrs. Gerald (Bonnie) Conner, Lake City, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Eloise Genth, Columbia City; nine grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine M. Glick, who died in 1995; and a daughter, Loretta Joan Hasty.

Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, with Roanoke Masonic Lodge 195 conducting services at 7:30 p.m., at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Rd., Fort Wayne. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Covington Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
