RoVerda P. Guilkey
Funeral services for RoVerda P. Guilkey were held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Christian Congregation Church in Alexandria with Pastor Jerry Young officiating.
RoVerda P. Guilkey, 73, of Alexandria, died Thursday (May 10, 2001) at her home.
Mrs. Guilkey had been an Avon sales representative for the past 16 years. She had formerly been employed as an executive secretary at Layman Life Insurance Company, Anderson, for 15 years and was co-owner of the Guilkey Shoe Store, Alexandria.
She was born Sept. 20, 1927, in Richmond to Paul H. and Verda Millspaugh Lucas. She graduated from Alexandria High School in 1945 and Indiana Business College in 1946. She married Earl E. Guilkey Jr. on Oct. 10, 1946, at the Christian Church in Alexandria. Her husband survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Stan Guilkey and Scott Guilkey, both of Anderson, Steve Guilkey, Carmel, and Dan Guilkey, Alexandria; a daughter, Mrs. Todd (Lisa) Graham, Sweetser; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Edward R. McNally
Edward R. McNally, 72, of Anaheim, Calif., and formerly of Huntington, died May 2, 2001, at his home.
Mr. McNally was retired from McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft in Huntington Beach, Calif. He was a Navy veteran of the
Korean War.
He was born Oct. 15, 1928 in Huntington to Edward R. and Helen Welker McNally. He graduated from Huntington Township High School in 1946. He also graduated from Purdue University, earning a degree in engineering.
Survivors include his wife Patricia; three sons, Michael McNally of Denver, Colo., Jeff McNally of Jamestown, N.Y., and Charles McNally of Las Vegas; three daughters, Cathy O’Connor, Mary Beth Irizarry and Trisha Wilson, all of California; his mother, Helen McNally, a resident of the United Methodist Memorial Home in Warren; three brothers, Robert McNally of Ellenton, Fla. and Roanoke, William McNally of Largo, Fla. and Tom McNally of Madisonville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A Mass was held for Mr. McNally on May 5 in Anaheim.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 19, at the United Methodist Memorial Home, 801 Huntington Ave., Warren.
Bonnie J. Boxell
Bonnie J. Boxell, 62, 809 N. Main St., Warren, died at 9:12 a.m. Tuesday (May 15, 2001) at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Boxell had worked at the United Methodist Memorial Home in Warren for 25 years. She was a 1956 graduate of Jackson Township High School, Wells County, and was a member of the Warren United Methodist Church.
She was born Nov. 19, 1938, in Wells County, a daughter of William Howard “Red” Buckland and Iva M. Glasscock Buckland. She married William Lee Boxell on April 28, 1956, in Warren. He survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Robert L. Boxell, Warren, and Jeffery A. Boxell, Huntington; a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Cynthia) Samples,Centerville; three sister, Kate Slater, Hartford City, Donna Black, Marion, and Kay Riddell, Indianapolis; a brother, Mack Buckland, Warren; her stepmother, Helen Buckland, Warren; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Buckland, and two sisters, Helen James and Betty Searles.
Calling is from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Glancy Funeral Homes, H. Brown and Son Chapel, Warren, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. Rev. Mike Beall will officiate.
Burial will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Arthur C. ‘Sonny’ Benton
Arthur C. “Sonny” Benton Jr., 60, Huntington, died Monday morning (May 14, 2001) at his home.
Mr. Benton was a power line construction worker. He was a member of the American Legion and Eagles Lodge in Huntington.
He was born March 30, 1941, a son of Arthur Curtis Benton and Mildred Howell Benton.
Survivors include two sons, Wayne Benton, Owensburg, and David Benton, Bloomfield; a sister, Carolyn Sue Pittman, Cloverdale; and two grandchildren.
A sister, Patricia Sinclair, is deceased.
Calling is from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home, Worthington. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Worthington Cemetery.
Myrtle E. Shaffer
Myrtle E. Shaffer, 77, Chambersburg, Pa., died Thursday (May 10, 2001) at her residence.
Mrs. Shaffer was a retired seamstress. She was a World War II veteran of the Women’s Army Corps and was a member of the King Street United Brethren Church in Chambersburg.
She was born Oct. 23, 1923, in Sterling, Ill., to George H. and Anna M. Lingamfelter Brown. She married Russell I. Shaffer, who died July 30, 1996.
Survivors include two brothers, Harry E. Brown, Stahlstown, Pa., and George H. Brown Jr., Huntington, and three sisters, E. Marie Brown, Anna Shew, and June L. Brown, all of Chambersburg.
Services were held at Monday at the King Street United Brethren Church with Revs. Lester F. Stine and Paul B. Baker officiating.
Burial was at the Norland Cemetery.

Ruth E. Regnier
Ruth E. Regnier, 96, died at 3 p.m. Wednesday (May 16, 2001) at the Wesley Manor in Frankfort, where she was a resident.
Mrs. Regnier had been a teacher at Griffith High School, Windfall High School and Tri-Central High School. She was a substitute teacher at Tipton High School and Kempton High School. She had formerly worked at Foster’s Jewelry and was the first Welcome Wagon hostess in Tipton. She was a member of the Kemp United Methodist Church, Phi Beta Psi, the Retired Teacher’s Association of Tipton County, and the Singing Saints of Wesley Manor. She graduated from Huntington College in 1925. She had been a resident of Huntington from 1928-37.
She was born July 19, 1904, in Mt. Carroll, Ill., to Rev. Elmer E. and Hattie Allen Plumley. She married Coleman F. Regnier on Sept. 3, 1928. Her husband preceded her in death.
Survivors include her children, Richard O. Regnier, Tipton, Dr. Jan Pierre Regnier, Tucson, Ariz., and Michael G. Regnier, Cleveland Heights, Ohio; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Two sisters preceded her in death.
Calling is 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Young-Nichols Funeral Home, 216 W. Jefferson St., Tipton, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. Rev. Gary Allen and Rev. John Hoggsett will officiate.
Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery, Tipton.

Dr. Paul E. Doermann
Dr. Paul E. Doermann, 74, 5503W-500N, a Huntington surgeon for many years and a past chief of staff at Huntington Memorial Hospital, died at 4:31 p.m. Wednesday (May 16, 2001) at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Dr. Doermann retired after 40 years as a surgeon. He completed his residency in Milwaukee, Wis., after graduating from Capitol University of Columbus, Ohio, and the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Mich. He served as a missionary doctor in New Guinea from 1958-59, started a practice in Columbia City in 1960, moving it to Huntington in 1961. He served as a captain in the U. S. Army.
He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Rotary Club, Cosmopolitan Club, Optimist Club, the American Cancer Society and the American Red Cross, all of Huntington. He served as chief of staff at Huntington Memorial Hospital and served on the Medical Memorial Board and the American Medical Association. He was a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
He was born Aug. 3, 1926, in Kodaikanal, India, to Rev. Carl and Cora Knupke Doermann. He married W. Ernestine McPherson on May 3, 1953, at Bethany Methodist Church in Valley Station, Ky. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, William Doermann, Huntington, and Chuck Doermann, St. Louis, Mo.; three daughters, Mrs. Tom (Marcia) Herzog, Huntington, Shelly Schilling, Markle, and Mrs. Jeff (Diana) Clausen, South Bend; two brothers, Alfred Doermann, Fredrick, Md., and Rev. Ralph Doermann, Columbus, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Sigmond (Ellen) Hilmer, Waterloo, Iowa, and Mrs. Dewight (Grace) Hull, Elkhart; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Calling is from 2-8 p.m. Friday at Hart Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 646 N. LaFontaine St., with Rev. Robert L. Meyer and Rev. Richard Lofgren officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church and/or School, 646 N. LaFontaine St., Huntington, IN 46750.
Richard L. Waggoner
Richard L. Waggoner, 76, 930 Oak St., died Friday (May 18, 2001) at Miller’s Merry Manor.
Mr. Waggoner was a forklift operator with the Kmart Corporation for 39 years, retiring in 1990. He served in the Navy as a torpedo operator during World War II.
He was born Aug. 28, 1924, in Amity, Ark., to Alvin and Bernice Tucker Waggoner. He married Ida Marie Thornton on Dec. 6, 1952, in Markle. His wife survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Russell L. Waggoner, Huntington, and Roger D. Waggoner, Kendallville; a brother, Alvin Waggoner, Huntington; two sisters, Mrs. Gary (Sue) Carl, Huntington, and Euna Sutton, Durant, Okla.; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James M. Brewer; and a sister, Wanda L. Dunn.
There will be no calling hours.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery
Chapel with Rev. Joseph Simwalt officiating. Burial will follow at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.
