Alice H. Rudicel

Alice Hurd Rudicel, 86, a resident of Westminster Village, Muncie, died Tuesday morning (May 29, 2001) at Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie.

Mrs. Rudicel was a third grade teacher at Claypool Elementary School for 18 years, retiring in 1976. She was a member of the College Avenue United Methodist Church, Muncie, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of Alpha Alumnae sorority; Daughters of the American Revolution; Daughters of the American Colonists; Muncie Woman’s Club; McRae Club; American Association of University Women; Alpha Chi Omega sorority; Delaware County Retired Teachers Association; Pi Lambda Theta; University Club; Muncie Rose Society; and Order of the Eastern Star in Huntington.

She was born Sept. 22, 1914, in Huntington to Leland Stanford and Violet May O’Dowd Hurd. She graduated from Huntington High School in 1932 and was the Rainbow Review Queen. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education in 1956 and a master’s in education in 1960, both from Ball State Teachers College. She was married to Rex S. Rudicel for 60 years. He died March 20, 2000.

Survivors include her son, Max H. Rudicel M.D., Muncie; a daughter, Sally A. Rudicel M.D., Boston, Mass.; two grandsons and two great-grandsons.

Calling will be held from noon until the 1:30 p.m. memorial service Thursday at the Meeks Mortuary Chapel, 415 E. Washington St., Muncie.

Private burial will be at the Lancaster Cemetery near Huntington.

Preferred memorials are to the National Osteoporosis Foundation, 1232 22nd St. NW, Washington, D.C.

Harold J. Miller

Harold “Harry” J. Miller, 76, of Beech Grove and formerly of Huntington, died Friday (May 25, 2001) in Indianapolis.

Mr. Miller was a sales representative for Koch News and managed the Olympia Club. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as a technician fifth-grade with the H and S Company, 155th First Engineering Heavy Pontoon Battalion. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

He was born on July 18, 1924, in Huntington, to Walter H. and Olga Eunice Miller Miller. He was married to Betty Williams, who survives.

Other survivors include a son, Mike Miller; and daughters Linda Moeller, Luann Mayhew and Jennifer Bowman; a brother, Tom Miller; and sisters Doris Mong and Betsy Bruemleve; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Calling will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the Little & Sons Funeral Home, 1301 Main St., Beech Grove, where services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Burial will be at Orchard Hill Cemetery, Beech Grove.

Betty I. Warnock

Betty I. Warnock, 77, 1568W-1100S, Warren, died at her home at 5:30 p.m. Thursday (May 31, 2001).

Mrs. Warnock, a graduate of Lancaster High School, had worked for 25 years as a cook manager for the Huntington County Community Schools. She was a member of St. Peter’s First United Church of Christ.

She was born Nov. 25, 1923, in Huntington County, a daughter of Raymond Landrum and Lilly Burnworth Landrum. She married Raymond Warnock Oct. 29, 1944, in Converse; her husband survives.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Rita) Pegan, Huntington; a son, Larry Warnock, Grayson, Ky.; four brothers, Dean Landrum of Wabash, Myron Landrum of Warren, Paul Landrum of Huntington, and Wayne Landrum of Old Town, Fla.; a sister, Mary Louise Rich, Huntington; three stepgrandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Warnock, and a grandchild.

Calling is 5-8 p.m. Saturday and 2-3 p.m. Sunday at Glancy Funeral Homes, H. Brown and Son Chapel, Warren. Services will be held at the church at 3 p.m. Sunday, with Rev. Jonathan Heaslet officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Cemetery.

Mary Jane Singer

Mary Jane Singer, 52, 506 Wabash Circle, Huntington, and formerly of Rochester, died at 1:25 p.m. Thursday (May 31, 2001) at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.

She was employed by the Dana Corporation in Andrews, where she served as union chairman. She was a member of the East State Street Church of God.

She was born July 15, 1948, in Peru, Ind., to James F. and Melba M. Rhoades Rupp. Her parents survive and live in Rochester.

Also surviving are a son, Rick W. Honkomp, Huntington; three sisters, Mrs. Ralph (Barbara) Hart, Rochester, Mrs. Raymond (Norma) Easterday, Winamac, and Cindy Eastwood, Bremen; four brothers, Chuck Rupp, Akron, Jim Rupp, Logan, Ohio, Paul Rupp, Terre Haute, and Frank Rupp, Goshen; a half-brother, Bill Lee, Vacaville, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

A brother, Kenny Rupp, preceded her in death.

Calling is 4-8 p.m. Saturday and from 2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. funeral service Sunday at the Zimmerman Brothers Funeral Home, 1101 Jefferson St., Rochester. Rev. Steve Stull will officiate.

Burial will be at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester.

Margaret L. Cook

Margaret L. Cook, 81, of Huntington, died at 7:07 a.m. Thursday (May 31, 2001) at Huntington Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Cook was a teacher in Huntington County for many years. She graduated from Huntington College and earned her master’s degree from St. Francis College. She was a lifetime member and one of the oldest members of the College Park United Brethren Church.

She was born Sept. 8, 1919, in Huntington to Chauncey and Lena Stemen May. She married Lyle Cook on June 30, 1940. Her husband died May 17, 1993.

Survivors include a son, Donald Cook, Columbus, Ohio; three daughters, Mrs. Richard (Patricia) Delmastro, of Arizona, Janet Stafford, Huntington, and Mrs. Wayne (Lois) Smith, Warsaw; a sister, Mrs. Wayne (Dorothy) Pfefferie, Worthington, Ohio; two grandsons and one great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.

Calling will be held from 3 p.m. until the 6 p.m. funeral service Monday at the Hart Funeral Home. Rev. Brent Birdsall will officiate.

Burial will be at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to the College Park United Brethren Church or to Huntington College, in care of Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN 46750.

Don Withey

Don Withey, 43, 99 Front St., Hornell, N.Y., died unexpectedly on Thursday (May 31, 2001) at Almond, N.Y.

Mr. Withey for seveal years with Hobard Trucking Company, Oil City, Pa. He was a member of the Kingsman Motorcycle Club.

He was born in Hornell, N.Y., on Jan. 15, 1958, to Donald M. Jr. and Joann Dugo Withey and live in Hornell prior to coming to Huntington. His mother, Joann Dugo, survives in Hornell.

Other survivors include his brother, David Dugo, Hornell.

He also is survived by his fiance, Julie Cocklin, and her children John Maynard and Tomeka Maynard.

Calling will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St., Hornell, N.Y., where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday.

Burial will be at Arkport Cemetery, Hornell.

Alice L. Foudy

Alice L. Foudy, 91, a resident of Norwood Nursing Center and former East State Street resident, died at 1:30 p.m. Friday (June 1, 2001) at the nursing center.

Miss Foudy was a music teacher for 60 years and previously taught music at Anderson College. She is a member of East State Street Church of God. She planed piano at the church for 35 years. She is the author of “Hallelujah Anyhow,” a book about her life and having polio. The book also was about her faith and her love for music.

She was born April 26, 1910, in Huntington County, to Michael and Laura Smith Foudy. and lived in Huntington her entire life.

Surviving are a sister, Mary Heitz, Wabash; two sisters-in-laws, Vivian Foudy and Naomi Foudy; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Riggle; and three brothers, Rev. L.E. Foudy, Fred Foudy and Dale Foudy.

Calling will be from 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Deal-Robbins & Van Gilder Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Rev. Stephen Stull officiating.

Burial will be at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to the East State Street Church of God, 608 E. State St., Huntington, IN 46750.

Russell G. Falcone

Russell G. Falcone, 83, 1329 Kocher St., died at 7:35 a.m. Friday (June 1, 2001) at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

Mr. Falcone was employed by the former Locke Steel Chain, Huntington, for 25 years. He is an Army veteran of World War II, with the Indian Motorcycle Unit. He played for the Army football team in 1941-42, winning seven and losing only one game.

He was born on Jan. 4, 1918, in Huntington County, to James and Maggie Presley Falcone. On April 6, 1946, he married Patricia J. Haneline. She survives at in Huntington.

Other survivors include three sons, Larry A. Falcone, James C. Falcone and Sheridan G. Falcone, all of Huntington; one daughter, Paula E. Blair, Huntington; and a brother, Jesse Falcone, Huntington; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one grandchild and two brothers, Carl Falcone and Cliff Falcone.

Calling will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Deal-Robbins & Van Gilder Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, were services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Rev. Elzie Spencer will officiate at the service.

Burial will be at the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.
