Quentin O. Corkhill
Quentin O. Corkhill, 80, 1355 E. Market St., died at 11:44 p.m. Thursday (May 31, 2001) at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Mr. Corkhill retired from General Electric Company, Fort Wayne,where he was a tool and die maker. He was an avid radio operator for may years with the call letters W9NNH.
He was born on April 5, 1921, in Chicago to Robert R. and Mary E. Foust Corkhill. He has lived in Huntington since 1932 and was a 1940 graduate of Huntington High School. On March 11, 1944, he married Flossie M. Wicker. She died on Oct. 30, 2000.
Other survivors include one son, Robert M. Corkhill, Huntington; two daughters, Mrs. Michael (Peggy S.) Bowers, Huntington, and Mrs. Thomas (Linda L.) Cartwright, Fort Wayne; four grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
There will be no calling.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Fairview Cemetery, Servia, with Brother John Summers officiating.
Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.

Frederick Converse Jr.
Frederick “Elmo” Converse Jr., 80, 1405 Garfield St., died at 6:47 p.m. Thursday (May 31, 2001) at Huntington Parkview Hospital.
Mr. Converse worked for 17 years for General Electric Company, Fort Wayne, where he was an inspector. He was a 50-year Mason and was a veteran of the Navy.
He was born on Dec. 20, 1920, in Delaware, Ohio, to Frederick Sr. and Louella Johnston Converse. On Jan 6, 1968, in Huntington, he married Maridean Hoover. She survives in Huntington.
Other survivors include two sons Frederick E. Converse, Sheperdsville, Ky. and Floyd Micheal Converse, Brandon, Fla.; two daughters, Martha Bartrom, Huntington, and Mary Rodgers, Independence, Wis.; two stepdaughters, Gloria Nowack, Jefferson City, Mo., and Gayle Huffman, Dixon, Mo.; two stepsons, Garry Hitzfield, Columbia City, and Greg Hitzfield, Uniondale; three brothers, Marvin Converse, Huntington, Jim Converse, Macy, and Bill Converse, Williamsburg, Va.; two sisters, Joann Yates, Mentone, and Ruthella Hall, Huntington; 18 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Bob Converse, Don Converse and Wesley Converse; and two sisters, Oraphilena Converse and Virginia Buckingham.
Calling will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Deal-Robbins & Van Gilder Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, and one hour before the service at 11 a.m. Monday at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1555 Flaxmill Rd. Rev. Gene Vickery will officiate at the service.
Burial will be at Gardens of Memory, Huntington County.

Helen L. Bomersback
Helen L. Bomersback, 85, Elwood, died on Thursday (May 31, 2001) at Autumn Wood Extended Care, Tipton. She was a Huntington native.
Mrs. Bomersback was a homemaker. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and a graduate of Huntington High School. She was a member of Daughters of Isabelle, the Alter & Rosery Society and the church women’s club. She attended St. Joseph Catholic Church, Elwood, and she was a volunteer at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital, Elwood.
She was born on Sept. 18, 1915, in Huntington, to Ora and Anna Scheiber Dolby. On Aug. 28, 1943, she married Joe Bomersback. He died on Sept. 25, 1988.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Gene (Kathy) Barranowski, Tipton, Mrs. Curt (Rosemary) McClain, Crawfordsville, Mrs. Phil (Jodie) Miller, Carmel, and Mrs. Larry (Ann) Rodriguez, San Antonio, Texas; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Herman Dolby and Edward Dolby, and a sister, Bernice Dolby.
Calling will be Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. A St., Elwood, where the Rosary will be recited at 7 pm. Sunday. Services will be at 10 am. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Elwood, with Farther Kenneth Raczek officiating.
Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association, through the funeral home.
Gladys M. Confer
Gladys M. Confer, 90, died at 7 p.m. Tuesday (June 5, 2001) at the United Methodist Memorial Home, Warren, where she was a resident.
Mrs. Confer was a homemaker and had worked as a custodian at Licking School and Blackford High School, both in Blackford County. She had also worked as a cook at Roll High School. She was a member of the Royal Blue Home Economics Club. She was also a member of the Independence Church of Christ in Hartford City and the Women’s Council at the church.
She was born March 19, 1911, in Blackford County to John and Sylvia Shadle Berrier. She attended Roll High School. She married Floyd Confer in Blackford County on March 19, 1932. Her husband survives. The couple made their home in Hartford City until moving to the United Methodist Memorial Home in April of this year.
Also surviving are two sons, Alvin Confer, Dunkirk, and Wayne Confer, Anderson, and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Wilda Yeiser and Bernitta Groves.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the Glancy Funeral Homes, Walker Chapel, 109 W. Windsor St., Montpelier, where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday. Rev. Jerry Pugh will officiate.
Burial will be at the Gardens of Memory, Muncie.

Mayre E. Anderson
Mayre E. Anderson, 89, Tovey, Ill., a former resident of Huntington, died at 4:19 a.m. Monday (June 4, 2001) at Doctor’s Hospital in Springfield, Ill.
Mrs. Anderson had been employed by the Square D Company in Huntington for 31 years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of the Salvation Army for 63 years and was also a member of the Royal Neighbors Club.
She was born May 28, 1912, in Huntington to Jesse and Lula Youngblood Anderson.
Survivors include two sons, Dwight Anderson, Tovey, Ill., and Dewayne Anderson, Huntington, a daughter, Nancy Cozzen, Eagle River, Alaska, 10 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday. Captain Tim Wilson will officiate.
Interment will be at the Clear Creek Cemetery, Huntington County.

John P. Clouse
John P. Clouse, 86, of 801 Huntington Ave., Warren, died at 11:36 p.m. Tuesday (June 5, 2001) at Parkview Huntington Hospital.
Mr. Clouse worked for 24 years at Dana Corporation, Marion, before retiring in 1978. He was a member of the Warren Kiwanis Club. He was a member of the Men’s Choir at the Warren United Methodist Church, and a member of the Barber Shop Choir, Marion.
He was born on Oct. 15, 1914, in Mercer County, Ohio, to George M. and Molly Smeltzer Clouse. He attended Central High School, Fort Wayne. On Jan. 2, 1936, he married Martha Breedlove. Mrs. Clouse survives.
Other survivors include a son, Jack Clouse, Muncie; a daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Jill) Clark, St. College, Pa.; a sister, Loveta Van Horn, Geneva; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and six sisters.
Calling is from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Glancy Funeral Homes, H. Brown & Son Chapel, Warren, where the funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Rev. Dewey Miller will officiate.
Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Warren.
Preferred memorials are to the Warren United Methodist Church, 227 N. Main St., Warren.
Dudley L. Williams
Dudley L. Williams, 48, 1247 N. Wayne St., Warren, died at 12:48 p.m. Wednesday (June 6, 20001) at his home.
Mr. Williams worked as a conductor for 28 years with the Erie Railroad and later for Amtrak. He was an accomplished songwriter, singer and guitarist. He also was an avid student of the Bible.
He was born on July 26, 1952, in Warsaw, to Lee J. and Catherine M. Shepherd Williams. His parents survive. He was a 1970 graduate of Huntington North High School.
Other survivors are two sons, Jarod Isenbarger, Fort Wayne, and Sean Myers, Indianapolis; a daughter, Jenni Isenbarger, Fort Wayne; four sisters, Mrs. Don (Linda) Wilson, Huntington, Mrs. Perry (Offie) Nelson, North Port, Fla., Mrs. Ronald (Carolyn) Ray, Huntington, and Mrs. Chris (Loretta) Martin, Huntington; and a grandson.
Calling is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. Rev. Ron Patrick will officiate at the service.
Burial will be at Gardens of Memory, Huntington County.

The Circle of Friends Benefit planned for Saturday to honor Mr. Williams will still be held as planned. The Circle of Friends event is at the Police Athletic Club beginning at noon. There is a $5 donation at the door and the event is for ages 12 and older. Several friends will perform at the Saturday benefit.
