Wayne D. Hite
Wayne D. Hite, 84, 6666S-1000W-90, Warren, died at 9:06 p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 11, 2001) at his home.
Mr. Hite had been a farmer in Rock Creek Township in Huntington County and in Jackson Township in Wells County. He was a tool maker, retiring from Corning Glass in Bluffton. A 1935 graduate of Rock Creek Township High School, Mr. Hite was a member of Barnes Chapel Methodist Church until it closed and a member of Dillman United Church of the Brethren.
He was born April 12, 1917, the son of Samuel V. and Ella L. Broyles Hite, who preceded him in death. On Jan. 3, 1987 in Jackson Township in Wells County he married Adriana D. Meyers, who survives. His first wife, Donnella Trout, died in 1962, and his second wife, Betty J. Miller, died in 1985.
Survivors also include two sons, Ronald B. (Jane) Hite and Jerry W. (Amanda) Hite of Huntington; a daughter, Mrs. Jon (Vicki) McIntire of Warren; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Robert (Joni) Meade of Lake City, Fla. and Mrs. Richard (Connie) Miller of Churubusco; three stepsons, David E. (Bonnie) Meyers of Tampa, Fla., Larry (Diane) Meyers of Conway Ark., and James (Cindy) Miller of Griffith; 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harry B. Hite and John L. Hite; and three sisters, Margaret Sills, Hazel Felton and Augusta Burns.
Calling is from 2-8 p.m. Friday at Glancy Funeral Homes H. Brown & Son Chapel in Warren where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Lynn Mefferd officiating.
Burial will be at Star of Hope in Huntington.

Robert A. Williams
Robert A. Williams, 69, of Yuma, Ariz. and formerly of Huntington, died at 8:50 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 8, 2001 in Yuma).
Williams was owner of William and Son Construction Co., Huntington.
He was born April 22, 1932 in Huntington to Virgil and Hazel Garrison Williams, who preceded him in death. On June 18, 1952 in Huntington, he married Marlene A. Riley, who survives in Yuma.
Survivors also include a son, Steven A. Williams of Andrews; a daughter, Lori A. Williams of Indianapolis; three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Mr. Williams was preceded in death by a son, Robert A. Williams II.
Memorial services are planned at a later date in Huntington.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Central Christian Church building fund, 500 MacGahan St., Huntington, IN 46750 or to the donor’s choice.

Joanna J. Dimond
Joanna J. Dimond, 81, Huntington, died Monday morning (Dec. 10, 2001) at her residence.
Mrs. Dimond was born on Oct. 15, 1920, in Huntington to Raymond and Manda (Trout) Souers. She married John William Dimond on April 5, 1942, in Huntington. He died July 8, 1993.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Peter’s First United Church of Christ and a 1939 graduate of Huntington Township High School.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Dimond, Fort Wayne; three daughters, Mrs. Steve (Pam) Summers, Greenwood, Mrs. John (Jill) Hoffman, Danville, Pa., and Jodie McDaniel, Warren; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, three step grandchildren, and four step great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Billie Jo Dimond, a brother, Forest Souers, and two sisters, Gertrude Brewer and Maralene Trainer, preceded her in death.
Calling hours are 3-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hart Funeral Home. Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Jonathon Heaslet officiating.
Burial will be in St. Peter’s First United Church of Christ cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to the American Heart Association, St. Peter’s First United Church of Christ, or the donor’s favorite charity, in care of the funeral home.
Richard W. Dunkin
Richard W. Dunkin, 82, Anderson, died Saturday (Dec. 8, 2001) after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Dunkin was a retired Anderson building contractor and World War II fighter ace. He was a 1937 graduate of Huntington High School and attended Chicago Technical College and Indiana University before enlisting in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a aviation cadet in 1942. He received his pilot wings and was commissioned a 2nd lieutenant at Moore Field, Mission, Texas. He served with the 325th Fighter Group, the Checkertail Group, of the 15th Air Force. He flew in the Mediterranean Theater, flying 80 combat missions and becoming an ace by destroying nine enemy aircraft in aerial combat. His military decorations included the Silver Star, the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with 20 oak leaf clusters, and two Presidential Unit Citations.
After World War II, he joined the family construction firm, W.R. Dunkin & Son Inc., with offices in Flora, Huntington and Bluffton, before moving to Anderson in 1951. He retired from the firm in 1988.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Anderson, the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce, and Junior Achievement of Madison County. He was a former member of the Anderson Country Club and the Anderson Rotary Club. In 1991. he received the Andrew Carnegie Award from the trustees of the Anderson Public Library. This past April, he received the Sagamore of the Wabash award from the state of Indiana. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, American Legion Post 212 in Lapel, the Madison County Contractors Association, the Associated General Contractors of America, the American Fighter Aces, and a life member of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen.
He was born on Nov. 18, 1919, in Carroll County, to Glenn F. and Ruth Dunkin. He married Betty Richards; his wife survives in Anderson.
Other survivors include a son, Craig R. Dunkin, Anderson; a daughter, Mrs. Stephen (Candy) Short, New Palestine; and a sister, Mrs. Henry (Mary) Andersen, Minneapolis, Minn.
Preceding him in death were a brother, Leon S. Dunkin, and a grandson, Matthew C. Dunkin.
Calling will be from 3-7 p.m. Thursday at the Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Home, Anderson. Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church, Anderson, at 10 a.m. Friday, with Rev. William Mathys officiating. Burial will be at the Anderson Memorial Park.
Preferred memorials are to the St. John’s Health System Hospice Program, the First United Methodist Church, Anderson, or Gateway Association of Madison County.
David J. Geyer
David J. Geyer, 63, a resident of Huntington County, died at 2:55 p.m. Monday (Dec. 10, 2001) at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Geyer was a foreman at Pulley-Kellam in Huntington for the last 20 years. He had also worked as a foreman for Wabash Magnetics for 15 years and International Harvester for five years. In addition, he had worked at Zahm’s Horse Farm in Huntington. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He had been actively involved with American Quarter Horse Association competitions and shows for 30 years and was an active trap shooter.
He was born Oct. 10, 1938, in Huntington, to Kenneth M. and Wanda M. Christman Geyer. He graduated from Huntington Catholic High School in 1956. He married Susie Merriman at St. Mary Catholic Church on Aug. 8, 1959. His wife survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Kristopher D. Geyer and Kody J. Geyer, both of Huntington, and Kip M. Geyer and Kasey N. Geyer, both of Fort Wayne; two brothers, Ron Geyer and Max Geyer, both of Huntington; a sister, Brenda Bauer, Huntington; plus a granddaughter, four stepgrandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday, with recitation of the rosary at 6 p.m., at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, with calling one hour prior to services, at St. Mary Catholic Church. Father Gary Sigler will officiate.
Burial will be at the Clear Creek Cemetery, Huntington County.

Edna L. Fitch
Edna L. Kline Fitch, 84, 746E-600N, died at 5:55 a.m. Friday (Dec. 7, 2001) at The Heritage of Huntington.
A lifetime resident of Huntington County, Mrs. Fitch worked 17 years as a refinisher at Wabash Magnetics, retiring in 1979. She was a 1935 graduate of Union Township High School and a member of Zion United Methodist Church.
She was born May 3, 1917, in Huntington, to George A. and Nettie V. Smith Kline. She married Kenneth L. Fitch Oct. 14, 1939, in Zanesville. Her husband survives.
Survivors also include a son, Ronald A. Fitch, Huntington, plus three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Virgil Kline, Frank Kline, Luther Kline, Dale Kline and Loyal Kline, and two sisters, Irene Sprinkle and Lula Kline.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Monday at the Bailey-Love Mortuary, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. Bill Rapp officiating.
Burial will be at the Union Cemetery.
