Pauline Stabe
Pauline Rebecca Stabe, 65, 1153 Bechtol St., died at 4:56 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 8, 2001) at Parkview Huntington Hospital.
Mrs. Stabe was a production worker for 18 years, retiring from MagnaTek. She was a member of the Bethel Assembly of God and the congregation’s women’s missionary group.
Mrs. Stabe was born Sept. 24, 1936, in Wells County, to Revy F. Osborn and Thelma M. Hamilton Osborn. She married Curtis E. Stabe Jan. 25, 1957, in Huntington. Her husband died in March 1986.
Survivors include a son, Eugene L. Stabe, Huntington; two daughters, Mrs. Terry (Judy) Jackson, Huntington, and Mrs. Scott (Susan) White, Huntington; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Dale B. Osborn, Ossian; and a sister, Mary Jean Hartman, Bluffton.
She was preceded in death by a son, Stephan R. Stabe; a sister, Ruby E. Harsh; and a brother, Wayne Osborn.
Calling will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Deal-Robbins and Van Gilder Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Dan Schreck officiating. Burial will be at the McFerren Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to the Bethel Assembly of God, 1640 E. Taylor St.
Mark A. Wiland
Mark A. Wiland, 41, Alliance, Ohio, died Saturday (Dec. 8, 2001) at University Hospital in Cleveland.
Mr. Wiland was a former Huntington resident, but lived most of his life in the Alliance area. He had been a driver for Schneider Trucking and North American Trucking Co.
He was born Jan. 10, 1960, in Alliance, to Jerry and Carol Wiland.
Survivors include a son, Corey Wiland, Huntington; his father and stepmother, Jerry and Barbara Wiland, Warren; his mother, Carol Wiland, Alliance, Ohio; two sisters, Pam Fancil of Monroe, Ga., and Cathy Weschke, Hartford City; three stepsisters, Kelly Boyce, Bradenton, Fla., Nancy Parrish, Andrews, and Janice Perry, Huntington; two brothers, Scott Wiland, Alliance, Ohio, and Larry Wiland, Huntington; and three stepbrothers, Mike Hart, Muncie, Robert Hardacre, Huntington, and Thomas Hardacre, Huntington.
He was preceded in death by a brother, David Otteson.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Grandview Cemetery
Chapel in Salem, Ohio, with Pastor Rick Ketterman officiating. There will be no calling hours.
The Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home, Alliance, Ohio, is in charge of arrangements.
Lester L. Bradfield
Lester L. Bradfield, 70, Fort Wayne, died at 4 a.m. on Nov. 29, 2001, at the home of his companion, Helen S. Martz, Huntington.
Mr. Bradfield, a native of Stafford, N.Y., was a self-employed carpenter who retired in 1996. He served in the Army during the
Korean War.
Survivors include three sons, Joseph Bradfield, Columbia City, and Timmon and Steven Bradfield, both of Fort Wayne; a daughter, Candace Dunn, Cincinnati, Ohio; a brother, Loren Bradfield, Stroh; two sisters, Audrey Bentley, Tampa, Fla., and Carol Dull, Maples, Fla; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Greenlawn Cemetery, 6600 Covington Rd., Fort Wayne.
Gifts to the family are preferred.
The Tom Mungovan Funeral Home, 2221-23 S. Calhoun St., Fort Wayne, is in charge of arrangements.
Vaughn J. Helms
Vaughn J. Helms, 80, of Warren, died at 5:40 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 6, 2001) at the United Methodist Memorial Home in Warren.
He was retired as a Salamonie Township farmer and in 1993 moved into the United Methodist Memorial Home. He was a 1939 graduate of Warren High School and a member of Warren United Methodist Church.
Mr. Helms was born Oct. 2, 1921 to Ernest R. and Vera Mabel Manring Helms. On July 30, 1943 he married Emily Irene Runkle, who preceded him in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Joan Buzzard and Mrs. James (Judy) Thomas, both of Fort Wayne; two brothers, Meredith Helms of Warren and Max Helms of Ossian; and two grandsons.
A brother, Paul D. Helms, preceded him in death.
Calling is from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. Saturday funeral services at Glancy Funeral Homes H. Brown & Son Chapel. Rev. John Wallace will conduct the services.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Jay D. Rohrabaugh
Jay D. Rohrabaugh, 59, 4805W-200S, died at 11:40 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 6, 2001) at his residence.
He was a Lancaster Township farmer and a truck driver for City Beverage. He was also a self-employed grain hauler. He previously worked at Sealtest and Erie-Lackawanna and Conrail. He was a member of Union Church.
Mr. Rohrabaugh was born on Jan. 29, 1942 in Rock Creek Township to Howard E. and Marjorie Helene Sunderman Rohrabaugh. He was a lifetime resident of Huntington County and a 1959 graduate of Lancaster High School. He married Rebecca J. Barnett on Dec. 27, 1980 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She survives.
Other survivors include his mother, Marjorie H. Rohrabaugh, Vanderbilt, Mich.; three sons, Todd E. Rohrabaugh, Huntington, Jeff L. Rohrabaugh, Huntington, and Tim I. Rohrabaugh, Arizona; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Kent (Angie) Shivley, Huntington; one stepson, Michael Haneline, Fort Wayne; a brother, Gary L. Rohrabaugh, Fort Wayne; a sister, Kay Anderson, Vanderbilt, Mich., and nine grandchildren.
Calling is from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Bailey-Love Mortuary, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday with Rev. Howard Cherry officiating.
Burial will be at Markle Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to the Home Health Car & Hospice and Salamonie Church of the Brethren, in care of the mortuary.
Phyllis N. Johnson
Phyllis N. Johnson, 77, of Lakeland, Fla., and formerly of Huntington, died at 9:08 p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 4, 2001) in Auburndale, Fla.
Mrs. Johnson had been a lifelong resident of Huntington until moving to Florida in 1972. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689 Ladies Auxiliary and a 67-year member of American Legion Post 7 Ladies Auxiliary.
She was born Feb. 18, 1924, in Huntington to Clyde and Jessie Smith. She graduated from Huntington Township High School in 1942. She married Albert L. “Abe” Johnson, a former Herald-Press employee, on June 7, 1942. He survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Vince (Ann) Kurucz, Auburndale, Fla.; three sons, Ted Johnson, Huntington, John Johnson, Vero Beach, Fla., and Mark Johnson, Eaton Park, Fla.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Private family services will be held in Florida and burial will be in Huntington at a later date.

Bonnie G. Johnston
Bonnie G. Johnston, 63, of Columbia City and formerly of Osceola, died Friday (Nov. 30, 2001) at the Hospice Home of Northeast Indiana in Fort Wayne.
She was a homemaker and had worked several years at the Osceola Quick Video Store. She was a member of the Columbia City North Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
She was born June 25, 1938, in Huntington to Keith and Virginia Walker Settlemyre.
Survivors include two sons, Mike Johnston, Huntington, and Keith Johnston, Columbia City; a daughter, Dianna Rowland, Elkhart; two sisters, Mrs. Cliff (Nancy) DeWitt, New Palestine, and Mrs. Don (Mary Ann) Allore, Wyandotte, Mich.; and a grandson.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Columbia City North Congregation Jehovah’s Witness Hall.

Iretha M. Lockhart
Iretha M. Lockhart, 88, of Columbus, Ohio, died at 9:53 p.m. Monday (Dec. 3, 2001) at the Mayfair Village Nursing Center in Columbus.
Mrs. Lockhart was a homemaker and had farmed with her husband in Clear Creek Township, Huntington County. She was a life member of the Pleasant Chapel United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of Eastern Star Floral Chapter 75.
She was born Jan. 2, 1913, in Huntington to Charles Edmun and Erma Ethel Hartman Beghtel. She graduated from Clear Creek High School in 1931. She married Melvin Bryce Lockhart in Huntington on Sept. 27, 1931. Her husband died March 4, 1988.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Venita Kay) Mollman, Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Herman Beghtel, Roanoke; plus two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A son, Arlen Bryce Lockhart, preceded her in death on July 16, 1994.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. Rev. Jason Gross will officiate.
Interment will be at the Old Lutheran and Union Cemetery
in Roanoke.
