Maybelle E. Ward
Maybelle E. Ward, 92, died at 12:40 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 4, 2001) at the United Methodist Memorial Home in Warren, where she had been a resident since 1992.
Mrs. Ward was a member of Leiters Ford United Methodist Church. She had lived in Royal Center, Roanoke, South Bend, Greentown, Ligonier and Leiters Ford before moving to Warren.
She was born May 1, 1909, in Dayton, Ohio, to Albert and Sarah Muckenheiter Weaver. She graduated from Fairmount High School in Dayton. She married Rev. Alva C. Ward on Nov. 16, 1935. Her husband died Feb. 26, 1995.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Rod (Mary Ann) Dutt, Culver; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Ethel E. Engle.
Calling is from 10-10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Memorial Home, 801 Huntington Ave., Warren.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, with calling 30 minutes prior to services, at Leiters Ford United Methodist Church. Rev. Fred Stayton will officiate. Burial will be at the IOOF Cemetery, Leiters Ford.
Glancy Funeral Homes, Butler Chapel, 203 N. Matilda St., Warren, is in charge of arrangements.
Mary Reece-Groff
Mary Reece-Groff, 90, Claypool, died at 2:21 a.m. Sunday (Nov. 4, 2001) at the Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
Mrs. Reece-Groff lived most of her life in Kosciusko County. She was a teacher for 43 years, teaching in Ijamsville, Atwood, Leesburg, Silver Lake, and at Warsaw Community High School. She retired from WCHS in 1977.
She was a member of the Claypool United Methodist Church, a past president of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association, and president of the local branch of the American Association of University Women. She was a 1929 graduate of Claypool High School, a 1933 graduate of Manchester College, and earned a master’s degree from Ball State University in 1938.
She was born May 11, 1911, in Modoc to Everett and Effie Yarling Myerly. She married Charles Thomas Reece in 1940; he died in 1978. She married Daniel Groff in Claypool in 1993. Her husband survives.
Also surviving are a stepson, Daniel E. Groff, Huntington; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Marshall (Elizabeth) Sanders, Denver, Colo.; and four stepgrandchildren.
Calling will be from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Ct., Warsaw. Services will be held at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Richard Sochaski officiating Burial will be at the Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Preferred memorials are to the Claypool United Methodist Church or Manchester College.
Glenna I. Park
Glenna I. Park, Markle, died at 5:40 a.m. Monday (Nov. 5, 2001) at the Bluffton Regional Medical Center.
Arrangements are pending at Myers Funeral Home, Markle Chapel.
Katherine M. Coyle
Katherine M. Coyle, 93, died Friday afternoon (Nov. 2, 2001) at the United Methodist Memorial Home in Warren, where she was a resident.
Mrs. Coyle was a homemaker and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Huntington. She was a 1925 graduate of Garrett High School and had attended DePauw University. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority of DePauw University and Tri Kappa Sorority in Huntington.
She was born Oct. 4, 1908, in Garrett to W. W. Sharpless and May Briggs Sharpless. She married Kenneth F. Coyle in Garrett on Oct. 4, 1928. Her husband died Feb. 26, 1968.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. James (Cynthia) Brumbaugh, Syracuse; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Connie Emison, preceded her in death.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Trinity United Methodist Church Chapel, 530 Guilford St., with Rev. David Arnold officiating. Burial will be at the Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Glenna I. Park
Glenna I. Park, 83, Markle, died at 5:40 a.m. Monday (Nov. 5, 2001) at the Bluffton Regional medical Center.
Mrs. Park was a homemaker and a member of the Markle United Methodist Church.
She was born Feb. 15, 1918, in Wells County, a daughter of Frank C. and Myrtle D. (Byrd) Huffman. She married Fred D. Park Feb. 15, 1936, in Bluffton; her husband died March 15, 1988.
Survivors include two sons, Paul E. Park, Marion, and Larry W. Park, LaVista, Neb.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Faye Sills and Fern Jackson, and a brother, Russell Wilbur Huffman.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Myers Funeral Home, Markle Chapel, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Pastor Gary Allan will officiate. Burial will be at the Markle Cemetery.

Mary L. Miller
Mary L. Miller, 82, rural Huntington, died at 11 a.m. Monday (Nov. 5, 2001) at her home.
Mrs. Miller retired from the Triad-Utrad Company in 1983 after 18 years of service. She had also worked at Miller’s Merry Manor in Huntington for 12 years, retiring in 1997. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Clear Creek Home Economic Club.
She was born July 25, 1919, in Huntington County to Charles A. and Cecelia Kauff Leist. She married George E. Miller on Oct. 13, 1941. Her husband died July 21, 2000.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Miller, South Whitley, and Larry Miller, Huntington; a brother, Fred Leist, Warren; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Leist and Herman Leist; and a sister, Dorothy Leist.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday.
Interment will be at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
James H. Kerr
James H. Kerr, 71, Wabash, died at 8:39 a.m. Sunday (Nov. 4, 2001) at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Kerr, a lifetime resident of Wabash, retired from North Manchester Foundry in 1992 after 37 years of service. He was a member of the Lagro United Methodist Church, a past member of the Wabash Moose Lodge, and a former member of the CB Radio Club and Wabash County React and Civil Defense.
He was born Nov. 4, 1930, in Wabash to James H. and Vera Miller Kerr. His first marriage was to Imogene Stafford in 1955. She died in 1993. His second marriage was to Mintie Taylor in 1995. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Terry Stafford, Warren, James Taylor Jr., Quinton, Okla., and Billy Taylor, Wabash; seven daughters, Mrs. Carl (Jamie) Poor, North Manchester, Brenda Purdy and Mrs. Kevin (Mary) Bussard, both of Wabash, Mrs. Sam (Barbara) Cone, Roann, Mrs. Bob (Debra) Harmon, Larwill, Mrs. Dale (Janet) Houlihan, LaFontaine, and Mrs. Dallas (Libby) Winchester Jr., Milford; two sisters, Bessie Carpenter, Marion, and Mary McNoldy, Wabash; 43 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, two brothers and a sister.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at McDonald Funeral Home, Eddingfield Chapel, 231 Falls Ave., Wabash, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. Pastor Charles Easterday and Pastor Tim Prater will officiate.
Burial will be at Friends Cemetery, Wabash.

Wilma P. ‘Patty’ Hurraw
Wilma P. “Patty” Hurraw, 71, Columbia City, died Wednesday morning (Nov. 7, 2001) at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Hurraw, a former resident of rural Markle, worked as an inspector for Bomar Instruments, Fort Wayne, for 35 years. She had also worked as a greeter for the Apple Glen Wal-Mart store in Fort Wayne. She was a 1948 graduate of Bryant High School.
She was born June 22, 1930, in Bryant, a daughter of Frederick and Ruth Marie Clay Iliff. She married Guy E. Hurraw Sept. 19, 1953 in Angola; her husband survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Rod Hurraw, Columbus, Ohio, and Rex Hurraw, Bluffton; three daughters, Mrs. Tom (Phyllis) Barger, Warsaw, Marilyn Hurraw, Ossian, and Rhonda Stabler, New Haven; two brothers, Ronald Iliff and Donald Iliff, both of Portland; four sisters, Bethel Hall, Hartford City, Oma Jane Uran and Marie Taylor, both of San Diego, Calif., and Nelda Arata, Glendale, Calif.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the Myers Funeral Home, Markle Chapel, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Bryson Bell will officiate.

Tracy W. Bent
Tracy W. Bent, 85, Wabash, died at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 6, 2001) at his home.
Mr. Bent retired in 1977 as a foreman at General Tire in Wabash and Marion, where he had worked 40 years. He was a member of the Wabash Christian Church and a graduate of Wabash High School.
He was born July 27, 1916, in Wabash, a son of Wilbur Bent and Grace Price Bent. He married Anna B. Hunt in 1938; his wife survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Michael Bent, San Diego, Calif., and Randy Bent, Wabash; three grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Thursday at McDonald Funeral Home, Eddingfield Chapel, 231 Falls Ave., Wabash, where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday. Pastor Jeff Earwood will officiate.
Burial will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
