Larry Bradfield

VINCENNES - Larry O. Bradfield, 62, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at Good Samaritan Hospital of cancer.

He retired as superintendent of the Mount Carmel, Bushnell-Prairie City and Braidwood, Ill., school systems.

He was an avid hunter and owned harness race horses for many years.

Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Kathy (Rardin) Bradfield; two daughters, Jane Cler of Bloomington, Ill., and Susan Green of Vincennes; a son, Keith of Paris, Ill.; and eight grandchildren, Katie, Stacie and Sam Cler, Bryce and Brendan Bradfield and Ty, Nathan and Mariah Green.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Short Funeral Home in Mount Carmel, Ill., with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery in Vincennes.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Race for the Cure.

Christopher Groves

WASHINGTON - Christopher L. Groves, 19, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis of injuries received when he was struck by a car near Vincennes University on Tuesday.

He was a graduate of Washington Catholic High School and was a full-time student at Vincennes University.

He was a night manager at Buehler's Buy-Low.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

Surviving are his parents, Vicky (Milton) and Wesley Groves Jr. of Washington; a sister, Sarah Groves of Washington; a brother, Jason of Washington; and his grandparents, Esther and Wesley Groves Sr. of Washington.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church, with burial in St. John's Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to service time at the Ed Lee Mortuary, with a rosary service at 7 p.m. today.

Kenneth Tyring

OAKLAND CITY - Kenneth G. Tyring, 74, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at his home of cancer. He retired as a coal miner from Solar Sources Coal Mine and had worked for Burch Plow Works for 28 years.

He was a World War II Army veteran and was a member of Oakland City American Legion.

He attended Oakland City First General Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Aileen (France) Tyring; two daughters, Janice Majors and Pam Woods, both of Oakland City; a son, Lowell of Louisville, Ky.; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home, with burial in Spurgeon Cemetery, with military rites.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Leonard Blaize

PETERSBURG - Leonard R. Blaize, 64, of Dugger, formerly of Petersburg, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes of apparent heart failure.

He was a Korean War Army veteran and was a member of the Lyons American Legion.

Surviving are his wife, Linda Mejean Henderson Blaize; a daughter, Janet Johnston of Mackey; two sons, Jason of Oatville and Jeff of the Whiteman Air Force Base; two stepdaughters, Vickey Freeman and Lynnette Henderson, both of Dugger; a stepson, Paul Henderson of Dugger; two sisters, Naoma Parker of Petersburg and Mary Schatz of Decker; five brothers, Hugh, Bob and Jim, all of Petersburg, Frank of Colorado Springs, Colo., and John of Florida; and 10 grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. EST Tuesday at Newkirk Funeral Home in Dugger, with burial in White River Chapel Cemetery in Petersburg, with military rites.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Hazel Evans

VINCENNES - Hazel I. Evans, 80, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at Good Samaritan Hospital.

She had worked as a nurse's aid at Good Samaritan Hospital and was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary.

Surviving are four daughters, Luella Kaiser, Beverly S. Marsh and Judith K. Briner, all of Vincennes, and Fran Wilson of Germantown, Tenn.; three sons, Larry of Vincennes, Herbert L. Jr. of Conway, Ark., and Rick of Brazil, Ind.; two brothers, Victor McCoy Sr. of Westport, Ill., and David McCoy of Vincennes; 18 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert L. Evans Sr., in 1995.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Goodwin Funeral Home, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Hilma Wilkinson
Hilma L. Wilkinson, 90, of Evansville, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, at Holiday Health Care.

She was a member of Keck Avenue Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Betty Marchal of Indian Town, Fla.; three sons, James E., Jerry and Gene, all of Evansville; 12 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald A. Wilkinson, in 1999.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Alexander Funeral Home North Chapel, Arthur Christmas officiating, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Marie Bigge

Marie E. Bigge, 82, of Evansville, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, at her home of cancer. She was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church.

Surviving are seven daughters, Mary Enlow, Barbara Whitsell, Rita Enlow, Martha Sitzman, Carol Byrne and Monica Dalrymple, all of Evansville, and Joan Bigge of Mount Vernon, Ind.; six sons, Henry Jr., Raymond, Paul, Charles, Bernard and Joseph, all of Evansville; a brother, Joseph Gumbel of St. Philip, Ind.; a stepsister, Theresa Cole of New Jersey; a stepbrother, Raymond Scheller of Evansville; 32 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry J. Bigge Sr., in 1968.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Philip Catholic Church, the Rev. David Fleck officiating, with burial in St. Matthew Church Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Ind.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Pierre Funeral Home, with a memorial service at 5 p.m., and from 10:30 a.m. to service time at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Vista Care Hospice.

Lorene Jones

Lorene Jones, 78, of Evansville, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, at Core Nursing and Rehab of cancer.

Surviving is a sister, Margie Wright of Evansville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Jones, in 1987.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Simpson-Meyer Funeral Home, the Rev. Jo Olson officiating, with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery.

Friends may call from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Ouida Evans

Ouida M. Evans, 88, of Evansville, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home.

She retired from de Jong's in 1968 and Ziemer Funeral Homes in 1985.

She was a former member of First Christian Church.

Surviving are a son, Vincent Hoefling of Evansville; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe A. Evans, in 1967.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Oak Hill Cemetery, Joseph Foster officiating.

There will be no visitation at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
