Howard ‘Hod’ Kaylor
Howard “Hod” Kaylor, 79, Huntington, died at 12:25 p.m. Monday (June 10, 2002) at Parkview Huntington Hospital.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday. Rev. Russell Buzzard will officiate.
Burial will be at the Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Esther V. Simmons, 98, Kirby, Ark., died Saturday (June 8, 2002).
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Mount Joy Cemetery, Kirby, Ark., with Rev. Travis Garner officiating. Pallbearers were Bill Fant, Jimmy Funderburk, Eugene Fant, James Parker, Red Dollar, and Robbie Funderburk.
The Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood, Ark., is in charge of arrangements.
Danny C. Tucker
Danny Clay Tucker, 51, Wabash, died at 3:40 a.m. Tuesday (June 11, 2002) from injuries he received in an automobile accident.
Calling will be from 3 p.m. until the 5 p.m. funeral service Friday at the Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Avenue Chapel, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash. Ron Lane will officiate at the funeral service.
Hiram D. Crunk
Hiram Douglas Crunk, 62, of Tennessee, died May 23, 2002, at Mountain Home Veterans Administration Hospital in Johnson, Tenn.
Burial was May 24 at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Johnson, Tenn.

Francis L. Whitacre
Francis L. Whitacre, 84, a resident of Norwood Nursing Center, died at the home at 12:25 p.m. Thursday (June 13, 2002).
Calling is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Deal-Robbins & Van Gilder Funeral Home, Andrews Chapel, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday with Dr. Kent Young officiating.
Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Andrews.

Samuel E. Pugh
Samuel E. Pugh, 65, 685E-1000S, Warren, died at 1:50 a.m. Sunday (June 16, 2002) at the Bluffton Regional Medical Center.

John Knop
John Knop, a two-term mayor of Huntington, former state Veterans Affairs official and a long-time local businessman, died Friday night at his home at 210 Orchard Lane. He was 81.
Knop’s tenure as mayor was perhaps best-known for the creation of the Jefferson Park Mall through the city’s central business district. The Knop administration supported the concept of the three-block renovation, which began in 1969.
Knop was elected mayor in 1967 and re-elected in 1971. He was also a member of the City Plan Commission.
In 1977, Knop was appointed director of the Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs in Indianapolis and served in that post until 1980.
He was the owner of Jones Jewelry Store in Huntington.
John Knop, 81, died at 8:45 p.m. Friday (June 14, 2002).
Calling is from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Deal-Robbins & Van Gilder Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, where a Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, with Father Ron Rieder officiating.
Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
