Jane E Conrad

Jane E. Conrad, 51 of Huntington died at 3:52 PM on Sunday, August 4, 2002 at the Hospice Home of NE Indiana in Ft. Wayne. Mrs. Conrad was a homemaker and had worked as a board loader at Ken Koat Inc. for 6 years.

She was born on March 7, 1951 in Clarksburg, West Virginia a daughter of Robert C. and Mary L. (Cain) Bell.
She was united in marriage to Frank J. Conrad, He survives.

Additional survivors include a son: Michael Conrad of Huntington, a daughter Pamela Sizemore of London, KY; 2 sisters: Joyce Richards of Ravenswood, West Virginia and Donna Sue Hansen of New Jersey; a half sister: Judy Ables of Lost Creek, West Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son Brian Conrad in March of 2002.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2002 at 3:00 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington, IN 46750.

Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service (2:00 p.m.) on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to the Hospice Home of NE Indiana in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.

Kathryn A. Karchner

Kathryn A. Karchner, 78, of rural Huntington, formerly of Van Buren , died on Tuesday, August 6, 2002 at 12:35 p.m. at her residence. Mrs. Karchner operated the Karchner Antique Shop in Van Buren for many years. She was a 1942 graduate of Van Buren H.S. She was a member of the Union Church in Huntington County. Mrs. Karchner raised and bred English pug dogs for many years, she also enjoyed oil painting of still life.

She was born on March 7, 1924 in Marion, IN a daughter of Albert and Donna Bartholomew Duncan. She was united in marriage to Loren E. Elwood Karchner on October 8, 1944 in Van Buren. Her husband survives.

Additional survivors include - a son: David Karchner of Fairmount, IN; a sister: Bonita Hoch of Van Buren, IN; a grandson: Ron Graffis of Dallas, TX and 2 great grand sons.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 12, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington, IN

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2002 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Interment will take place in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Huntington County.

Memorial contributions are to the Parkview Home Healthcare & Hospice or to the Union Church c/o Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington, IN 46750.

Steven Lynn Smith

Steven L. Smith, 40 of Himes Street, Huntington, died at 1:26 PM Saturday, August 24, 2002 at the Goshen General Hospital in Goshen, Indiana. Mr. Smith was employed for the past nine (9) years as a production worker at Hayes-Lemmerz Corporation in Huntington. Previously he was employed as the Receiving Manager at Scotts Food Store at the Coventry location in southwest Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Mr. Smith was a 1980 graduate of Lakewood High School in Lake Odessa, Michigan. He was a 1985 graduate of Huntington College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. He earned a second Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Huntington College in 1994. He was currently a graduate student at Indiana Institute of Technology in Fort Wayne, working toward his Master`s of Business Administration. Steve accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at the age of five and was an active member of the College Park United Brethren Church in Huntington where he sang in the Sanctuary Choir, sang in the Men`s Quartet, and was a Sunday School teacher with the High School class. He was the 1997 Convention Chairman for Pentacon (a miniature war games club) that was held in Fort Wayne for which he received the Samuel H. Hannah Award for promoting economic development in Fort Wayne. He was an avid student of World War II and Vietname War history. He also enjoyed airplanes and aviation history.

Mr. Smith was born December 31, 1961 in Huntington, Indiana, the son of Theron Lee and Helen Ann (Howery) Smith. His parents survive and live in Lansing, Michigan. He was united in marriage to Linda L. Baker on July 3, 1982 in Detroit, Michigan. His wife survives and lives in Huntington, Indiana.

Additional survivors include: three daughters, Elizabeth Celle Smith, Brianna Ruth Smith, and Rebekah Lynne Smith all at home; a brother, Mr. Stacy (and wife Jamie) Smith of Redford, Michigan; a paternal grandmother, Mrs. Ida Smith of Holt, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by a paternal grandfather, Elden Smith and his maternal grandparents, Robert and Esther Howery.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 PM and from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 27, 2002 at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, August 28, 2002 at the College Park United Brethren Church, 1945 College Avenue, Huntington, Indiana, with Rev. Brent A. Birdsall and Rev. Mark Ralph officiating. There will be one hour of calling prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.

Interment will be in the Pilgrim`s Rest Cemetery in Huntington, Indiana.

Mildred Fern Espinoza

Mildred F. Espinoza 78, formerly of East Market Street in Huntington died at 6:15 AM on Tuesday, August 27, 2002 at Millers Merry Manor in Huntington. Mrs. Espinoza worked as a food supervisor for 19 years at the Anaheim Memorial Hospital in California. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Huntington.

She was born on February 3, 1924 in Huntington a daughter of George and Mary Daley Tester.
She was united in marriage to William F. Espinoza on February 12, 1971 in New Orleans, LA. He preceded her in death on July 3, 1978.

Survivors include two daughters: Mrs. Peter (Karen) Mikelis of Las Vegas, NV., Linda Catron of Clermont, FL., a brother: William R. Tester of Huntington, a sister: Birtelene Printz of Indianapolis, six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers: Harold Tester, Jack Tester, Robert Tester, Richard Tester, a sister: Marjorie Jackson and a grandson: Aaron Gibbons.

Visitation will be on Thursday, August 29, 2002 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Preferred memorials are to the American Heart Association in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.

Cameron Grant Rogers

Cameron G. Rogers, 48 of Meridian Road in Huntington died at 9:45 AM on Wednesday, August 28, 2002 at Parkview Memorial Hospital in Fort Wayne. Mr. Rogers worked for the Indiana State Highway Department for many years. He was a 1972 graduate of Huntington North High School. He was a member of the Pleasant Chapel United Methodist Church and was also a member of the Future Farmers of America. He loved to play football.

He was born on July 28, 1954 in Huntington, a son of Bill G. and Virginia R. Rupert Rogers. His mother survives in Roanoke.

Additional survivors include a son: Adam R. Rogers of Huntington, a daughter: Shirley B. Rogers of Lafayette, three brothers: John W. Rogers, James A. Rogers both of Huntington and Joe E. Rogers of Lafayette.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Rogers on December 17, 2000.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 30, 2002 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.

Services will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2002 at 11:00 AM at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with Steve Haiflich officiating.

Interment will be at the Pleasant Chapel Cemetery in Huntington County.

Preferred memorials are to the Rogers Children Memorial Fund in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.

Carl Tandy Clipp

Carl T. Clipp, 96 formerly of 426 E. Tipton Street died at 1:10 PM on August 29, 2002 at the Norwood Nursing Center in Huntington. Mr. Clipp worked as the manager for the Merit Shoe Store in Huntington for 36 years. He also worked as the front desk clerk at the Huntington YMCA from 1971 - 1997. He was a 1924 graduate of Georgetown High School and attended the Indiana Central College for two years. He was a member of the Central Christian Church in Huntington and a 73 year member of the Amity Lodge #483 F & AM of Huntington. He was also a member of the 440 Repeater Group Amateur Radio Club of Huntington. His call letters were K9DKB.

He was born on June 27, 1906 in Georgetown, Indiana a son of Joseph R. and Dora Burkhart Clipp.
He was united in marriage to Helen Harvey on February 16, 1934 in Huntington. She preceded him in death on December 12, 1979.

Survivors include a daughter: Mrs. Nelson (Rosemary) Schoeff of Huntington. Eight grandchildren including Tim Schoeff, Leslie Wolf and Heidi Engelman, of Huntington; eleven great grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janis Sutter, May 23, 1996; one brother and three sisters.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 3, 2002 from 3:00-8:00 PM at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana with Masonic services being held at
7:30 PM.

Services will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2002 at 10:00 AM at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with Dr. Sam K. Young officiating.

Preferred memorials are to the Huntington YMCA, 607 Warren Street, Huntington, IN 46750 or to the Parkview Home Health Care and Hospice, 240 S. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750.

Interment will be at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Huntington County.

Coleta Beatrice Girvin

Coleta B. Girvin, 87 formerly of Sparks Street, Markle died at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 7, 2002 at the Markle Health Care Center in Markle. Mrs. Girvin worked in manufacturing at the Square D Company in Huntington for 21 years. She was a member of the Markle Church of Christ; she was an active volunteer for the Girls Scouts, the Markle Nursing Home and at Fort Wayne Nursing Homes. She was also a Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star Crescent Chapter 48 in Bluffton.

She was born on December 12, 1914 in Island, Kentucky a daughter of Thadius and Josephine Everly Bidwell.

She was united in marriage to Raymond O. Girvin on March 26, 1932 in Rockport, Indiana. He preceded her in death on August 26, 2000.

Survivors in include a daughter: Sandra Price of Oceanside, CA., a brother: Edward Bidwell of Kentucky,
Three sisters: Eloise Richardson of California, Mary Lee Stone of Louisiana, Peggy Rogers of Kentucky, one granddaughter, one great grandson and several nieces and nephews.

A brother preceded her in death.

Visitation will be on Monday, September 9, 2002 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee Street, Markle, Indiana.

Services will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2002 at 1:00 PM at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel with Pastor Gerald O. Moreland officiating.

Interment will be at the Markle Cemetery in Markle.

Preferred memorials are to the Markle Church of Christ Mission Fund in care of Myers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 403, Markle, IN 46770.
