Shirley C. Smith, 89, formerly of Poplar Street, died at 3:36 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 19, 2002)at the Heritage of Huntington.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel.

Entombment services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Gardens of Memory Chapel in Huntington County with Rev. Bill Rapp officiating. Entombment will be at the cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to the Salvation Army in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington, IN 46750.

Debrah L. Poulson

Debrah L. Poulson, 49, Fort Wayne, died Saturday (Oct. 19, 2002) at her home.

Calling is 2-4 p.m. and from 5 p.m. until the 7 p.m. funeral service Wednesday at D. O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne.

Preferred memorials are to the family, in care of D. O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, IN 46805.

Herbert O. Miller

Herbert O. Miller, 90, Columbia City, died at 1:15 a.m. Sunday (Oct. 20, 2002) at Miller’s Merry Manor, Columbia City, where he had resided since Oct. 13. He had been admitted to Parkview Whitley Hospital on Sept. 28.

Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Smith and Sons Funeral Home, 207 N. Main St., Columbia City, where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be at Clear Creek Cemetery in Huntington County.

For those who wish, memorials may be made to Interfaith Missions or A.B.L.E. Families, in care of Smith and Sons Funeral Home, 207 N. Main St., Columbia City, IN 46725.

Kandyce K. Jacobs

Kandyce K. Jacobs, 55, Fort Wayne, died at her home Thursday (Oct. 17, 2002).

Calling was from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the D. O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 E. DuPont Rd., Fort Wayne. Services was held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Emmaus Lutheran Church, 2320 Broadway, Fort Wayne. There was additional calling one hour prior to the services.

Burial was at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.

Preferred memorials are to the Emmaus Lutheran Church of the Visiting Nurse Service’s Hospice Home.

Betty V. Fluke

Betty V. Fluke, formerly of Girvin Street in Markle, died at 4:55 a.m. Monday (Oct. 21, 2002) at the Markle Health Care Center.

A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church on Dustman Road in Bluffton, with Rev. Robert Heimach officiating.

Interment will be at the Beech Grove Cemetery, Muncie.

Preferred memorials are to Northern Wells Dollars for Scholars, in care of Myers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 403, Markle, IN 46770.

Myers Funeral Home, Markle Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.

Ella M. Anders

Ella M. Anders, 83, 116 S. Grover St., Warren, died at 5:45 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 19, 2002) at Heritage Park in Fort Wayne.

Calling is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Glancy Funeral Homes, H. Brown & Son Chapel, 203 N. Matilda St., Warren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Chaplain Teresa Bucher officiating.

Burial will be at Taylor Cemetery, Warren.

Merle D. Alexander

Merle D. Alexander, 86, Marion, died at 4:47 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 17, 2002) at the Wesleyan Health Care Center, Marion.

Calling was from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion. Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Rev. David Ylvisaker officiating.

Burial was at Grant Memorial Park, Marion.

Geraldean Tackett

Geraldean Tackett, 78, 1021 Jackson St., died at 1:05 p.m. Monday (Oct. 21, 2002) at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.

Calling is from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Deal-Robbins & Van Gilder Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday with Rev. Elzie Spencer and Rev. Jimi Staton officiating.

Burial will be at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to the donor’s choice of charities, in care of Deal-Robbins & Van Gilder Funeral Home, 338 E. Washington St., Huntington, IN 46750.

Norma Jean Tackett

Norma Jean Tackett, 76, 18 Shamrock Ct., died at 7 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 30, 2002) at her daughter’s home in Warsaw.

Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Deal-Robbins & Van Gilder Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday. Rev. Rodney Rudd and Rev. Worlie Newsome will officiate.

Burial will be at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.

Kay A. Dodge, 99, a resident of the Peabody Retirement Community in North Manchester, died at 11:58 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 20, 2002) at the Peabody Health Care Center.

Calling is from 1-2 p.m. Thursday at the Peabody Retirement Community Chapel, North Manchester, with services in the chapel at 2 p.m. Rev. H. Jordan Truman will officiate.

Burial will be at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, Clearwater, Fla.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Peabody Foundation.

The Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, 207 W. Main St., North Manchester, is in charge of arrangements.

Evan D. Pinkerton, 87, Kalamazoo, Mich., died Saturday afternoon (Oct. 19, 2002).

Cremation has taken place. A private graveside service will be held at Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery, Kalamazoo, Mich.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Lois Jane Shoemaker, 79, West Covina, Calif., died Sept. 2, 2002, in Covina, Calif.

Services were held Sept. 6 at the Arcadia Chapel of Remembrance, Covina, Calif.

Karen L. Graham

Karen L. Graham, 56, Defuniak Springs, Fla., died Oct. 8, 2002.

Services were held Oct. 11 at the Glendale Baptist Church, Glendale, Fla. Burial was at the Leonia Cemetery, Leonia, Fla.

Clary-Godwin/Commander Funeral Home, Defuniak Springs, Fla., was in charge of arrangements.

Delbert D. Thorn Sr.

Delbert D. Thorn Sr., 66, 502 1/2 Buchanan St., died at 4:30 a.m. Sunday (Oct. 27, 2002) at his home.

Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral service Wednesday at the First Pentecostal Church, 313 E. Franklin St. Rev. Jon W. Willis will officiate.

Burial will be at the Star of Hope Cemetery.

The Bailey-Love Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
