Herbert O. Haneline, 73, Fort Wayne, died Saturday (Nov. 9, 2002) at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.

Calling is 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at the Highland Park Cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to Forest Park United Methodist Church, the American Heart Association, or the American Cancer Society, in care of D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, IN 46805.

Jeffrey J. Berry

Jeffrey James Berry, 37, Sidney, Ohio, died Saturday (Nov. 9, 2002) at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio.

Calling is 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Grandstaff Hentgen Funeral Home, Bender Chapel, 207 W. Main St., North Manchester. Services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Friday, with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be at the Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.

Preferred memorials are gifts to the family.

Capt. Eugene A. Hemley

Captain Eugene A. Hemley, USN (Ret.), 84, of Scarsdale, N.Y., died on Veterans Day (Nov. 11, 2002).

Arrangements were handled by the Bennett Funeral Home, Scarsdale.

James A. Phillips

James A. “Jim” Phillips, 89, Circle Drive, died at 4:19 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 13, 2002) at Parkview Huntington Hospital.

Calling is from 2-6 p.m. Friday and from noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service Saturday at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel.

Interment will be at the Star of Hope Cemetery.

Elizabeth M. Young

Elizabeth M. “Liz” Young, 90, died at 3:10 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 14, 2002) at Beverly Rehabilitation and Specialty Care of Fort Wayne, where she was a resident.

Calling will be held from noon until the 2 p.m. funeral service Monday at Roanoke Memorial Funeral Chapel, 240 Crestwood Dr., Roanoke. Rev. Ron Burns will officiate.

Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery, Roanoke.

Preferred memorials are to the Roanoke Brethren Church, in care of Roanoke Memorial Funeral Chapel, 240 Crestwood Dr., Roanoke, IN 46783.

James G. Hughs

James G. Hughs, 84, Venedocia, Ohio, died at 11:50 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 13, 2002) at the Bluffton Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Hughs farmed in York Township for 77 years before retiring. He was a member of the Monticello United Brethren Church and of the former Elgin United Brethren Church, where he held many positions. He was a former member of the Van Wert County Board of Elections and the Van Wert County Farm Bureau.

He was born Feb. 14, 1918 in Van Wert County, Ohio to Elmer James and Rachiel Ann Cattell Hughs. He attended York High School. He married Lois Johnson on Dec. 12, 1942. His wife survives.

Calling is 2-8 p.m. Saturday at the Cowan & Son Funeral Home, 616 S. Washington St., Van Wert, Ohio, where funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Carey G. Knittle and Rev. Andy Atkins will officiate.

Burial will be at Goodwin Cemetery, York Township.

Preferred memorials are to the Monticello United Brethren Church, the Tornado Fund, or the United Way, in care of Cowan & Son Funeral Home, 616 S. Washington St., Van Wert, OH 45891-2369.

Ruth Viola O’Neal Brewer

Ruth Viola O’Neal Brewer, 88, Kirby, Ark., died Friday (Nov. 15, 2002).

Calling will be from 6 to 8 p.m. local time (7 to 9 p.m. Huntington time) at the Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood, Ark. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Caney Valley Missionary Baptist Church with Elders Keith Howell and Harold Turner officiating. Burial will be at the Ebenezer Cemetery.

Alta E. Edris

Alta E. Edris, 89, Poneto, died at 9:56 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 14, 2002) at Bluffton Regional Medical Center.

Calling was from noon-8 p.m. Sunday at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel, Bluffton, and one hour prior to the funeral service that was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Liberty Center Baptist Church. Rev. Dan Sommers will conduct the service.

Burial will be at the Emmanuel Cemetery, Rockford.

Preferred memorials are to the Liberty Center Baptist Church.

Frank H. Arven

Frank Howard Arven, 84, Marion, died at 6:50 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 16, 2002) at the Veterans Administration Northern Indiana Health Care Center in Marion.

There will be no calling hours.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the LaFontaine IOOF Cemetery with Pastor J. P. Freeman officiating.

Preferred memorials are to the Grant County Cancer Society, in care of the McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 S. Main St., LaFontaine, IN 46940.

Jack Alumbaugh

Jack Alumbaugh, 75, Marion, died at 4:10 a.m. Friday (Nov. 15, 2000) at Marion General Hospital.

Calling was from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Rd., Marion. Private graveside services will be held Monday at Estates of Serenity, Marion.

Preferred memorials are to Cancer Services of Grant County, 305 S. Norton Ave., Tower Suites, Marion, IN 46952.

Richard S. Wilkinson

Richard S. “Rick” Wilkinson, 57, Fort Wayne, died at 4:25 a.m. Sunday (Nov. 17, 2002) at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.

Calling is from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and for one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. Thursday funeral service at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 7710 E. State Blvd., Fort Wayne.

Burial will be at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery, Fort Wayne.

Preferred memorials are to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or the Vet Center, both in Fort Wayne.

E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, Fort Wayne, is in charge of arrangements.

James R. Wehr

James Richard Wehr, 63, Huntington, died Saturday (Nov. 16, 2002) at his home.

Calling is from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday.

Burial will be at the Lancaster Cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to American Legion Post 7 or the Forty et Eight Nurses Scholarship Fund, in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN 46750.

Robert R. Myers

Robert R. Myers, 72, 169 W. 6th St., Roanoke, died at 6:18 a.m. Tuesday (Nov. 19, 2002) at the Hospice Home of Northeast Indiana, Fort Wayne.

There will be no calling. A private family memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Roanoke Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Kaye Patton and Dr. Veryl Roth officiating.

Preferred memorials are to the Christ United Methodist Church, Roanoke, and the Hospice Home of Northeast Indiana, Fort Wayne.

Robin Van Knecht

Robin Van Knecht, 52, a former Bippus resident, died Monday (Nov. 18, 2002) at his home in Syracuse, N.Y.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at St. John’s Cemetery, Bippus, with Rev. Bill Hainestock officiating.

Preferred memorials are to St. John’s United Church of Christ, West Market Street, Bippus, IN 46713, or to the church in care of Deal-Robbins & Van Gilder Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Kelly Jo Hill

Kelly Jo Hill, 39, 4497W-200N, died at 1 a.m. Tuesday (Nov. 19, 2002) at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

Calling is from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the Bailey-Love Mortuary, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday with Pastor Al Soultz and Pastor Marion Burkett officiating.

Burial will be at the Center Grove Cemetery, Wabash County.
