Bill Hurst
HUNTINGBURG - Bill E. Hurst, 45, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at his home. The cause of death is being investigated by the Dubois County coroner.
He was a carpenter.
Surviving are his wife, Katherine (Volz); three sons, Arron of Jasper, Joe of Austin, Texas and William Wyatt at home; a stepson, Shawn Davis at home; and four brothers, Bob Montgomery, Mark Montgomery of Evansville, Kenny Montgomery of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Gene Hurst of Lafayette.
Services will be at 2 p.m. EST Monday at Nass & Son Funeral Home, with burial in Mayo Cemetery
near Duff.

Paul Gentry
BOONVILLE - Paul E. Gentry, 81, of Boonville, formerly of Tennyson, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at St. Mary's Warrick.
He retired in 1982 from Peabody Coal Co. Lynnville Mine and was a member of the United Mine Workers Local 9926.
He served eight years as Skelton Township trustee and more than 14 years on the Warrick County school board.
He was a World War II Marine Corps veteran, serving with the 4th Marine Division in Iwo Jima, and a member of the American Legion.
He attended the Tennyson Free Methodist Church, was a member of Gentryville Masonic Lodge and a manager for the Tennyson American Legion baseball team.
He was a charter member of the Warrick County Coon Hunters Club.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Berthenia (Bruner); two daughters, Linda Kay Barnett of Traves, Fla., and Diane Smitha of Boonville; two sisters, Pauline Rogers of Newburgh and Magdalene Barr of Boonville; seven grandchildren, Kay Dotson, Jack II and Todd Barnett, Robin Rausch, and Tim, Matthew and Greg Smitha; 13 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and Jack Barnett and Wayne Smitha, who cared for him.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Koehler Funeral Home Boonville Chapel, with burial in Little Zion Cemetery
near Tennyson, with military rites.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, with a 7 p.m. Masonic service, and from 9 a.m. to service time the funeral home.

Ira Jackson
VINCENNES - Ira Lewis Jackson, 83, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at Lodge of the Wabash.
He retired from the Tip Top Creamery, was a World War II veteran and a member of the First Church of God.
Surviving are his wife, Ethyl (Schutter); a daughter, Linda Hanson of Pelham, Ga.; two stepdaughters, Sondra Abel of Vincennes and Lida Gerkin of Oaktown; two sisters, Deltha Truelson of Fort Meyers, Fla., and Dorothy Miller of Vincennes; a half sister, Catherine Trowbridge of Spencer; a brother, Hubert of Lake City, Fla.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucille (Hanson).
Services will be at 11 a.m. EST Wednesday at Goodwin Funeral Home, with burial in Hanson Cemetery
in Guthrie.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Kathryn Wall
VINNCENNES - Kathryn L. Wall, 80, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at her home of heart failure.
Surviving are a daughter, Frankie Clark of Vincennes; a son, Joseph Richard of Loogootee; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Her husband, Joseph Richard, died in 1947.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. EST Tuesday at Goodwin Funeral Home, with burial in Fairview Cemetery.

Truman Leibering
HUNTINGBURG - Truman D. Leibering, 82, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at Deaconess St. Joseph's Hospital.
He retired from Styline Furniture Co. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2366 and the Jasper R.C. Flyers. He was the editor of It's A Model Airplane Club.
Surviving are his wife, Juanita R. (Buse); four daughters, Kathleen King and Jill Renae Young, both of Huntingburg, Karen Kennerk of Woodburn and Judy Lynn Kendall of French Lick; a son, Jane Allen of Phoenix; two brothers, Eugene and Wesley, both of Huntingburg; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Candace Leibering.
Services will be at 10 a.m. EST Tuesday at Nass & Son Funeral Home, with burial in Fairmount Cemetery, with military rites.

Charles Carter
HUNTINGBURG - Charles Carter, 78, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital of injuries from a fall at his home.
There are no immediate survivors.
Graveside services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. in Oak Hill Cemetery, Evansville. There will be no visitation at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel in Evansville.
Rubye Sartore
Rubye M. "Grandma Rubye" Sartore, 80, of Evansville, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, at her home of a heart attack.
She retired from Arkla Industries and had worked for Servel Inc.
She was a Christian and a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church.
She enjoyed her garden, cooking and sewing.
Surviving are two sons, Steve and Gary Hape, both of Killen, Ala.; nine grandchildren, Tracy, Garrick, Patrick, Tristan, Max and Stephanie Hape, Doug and Stephanie Skelton and Krissie Alsip, with whom she lived; and great-grandchildren. A son, Rick Skelton, died in 1996.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Alexander Memorial Park Chapel, the Rev. Glen Flowers officiating, with entombment in Alexander Memorial Park.
Friends may call from noon to service time at the chapel.

Scott Ward
Scott Joseph Ward, 21, of Evansville, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn., of injuries received in an automobile accident on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001, near Nashville.
He worked in the parts department at Expressway Dodge, was a 1998 graduate of North Posey High School and a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Poseyville, Ind.
Surviving are his parents, Perry Joseph and Debra (Katterhenry) Ward of Evansville; a sister, Kara Ward of Evansville; and grandparents, Glenn and Grace Katterhenry, Elmer Ward and Margaret Williams.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Werry Funeral Home Poseyville (Ind.) Chapel, the Rev. Claude Atkins officiating, with burial in Poseyville Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

June Miller
June L. Miller, 66, of Evansville, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, at her home of heart failure.
She retired as a comptroller from Tri-State Areo and was a former member of Union United Church of Christ.
Surviving are a daughter, Denise D. Miller of Evansville; a son, Wayne A. of Newburgh; her mother, Maxine Draper of Evansville; a brother, Don Draper of Owensboro, Ky.; two grandchildren, Kelsee L. and Tim Miller; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Daniel Kincaid officiating, with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery.

Helen Norton
Helen Norton, 81, of Evansville, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at St. Mary's Riverside.
She was a Christian and a member of Northeast Park Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband of 65 years, James; a daughter, Helen Marie Miller of Yankeetown, Ind.; two sons, James L. of New Harmony, Ind., and Michael O. of Evansville; six grandchildren, Jeanmarie, James Jr., Jon and Lisa Norton, Timothy Miller and Laura Lurker; and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at Alexander Funeral Home North Chapel, the Rev. Dan Hill officiating. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to service time.
