Junior Batton, 82, a resident of Harborside Healthcare, New Haven, died at 4:19 p.m. Sunday (April 6, 2003) at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.

Calling is from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Paul Craig Paino officiating.

Burial will be at Lancaster Cemetery.

Helen Walker

Helen Walker, 96, died at 7:15 a.m. Monday (April 7, 2003) at the Timbercrest Retirement Home, North Manchester, where she was a resident.

Calling will be held from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral service Thursday at the Timbercrest Retirement Home in North Manchester. Rev. Ken Rieman and Chaplain David Doudt will officiate.

Burial will be at the Lancaster Cemetery, Lancaster.

Preferred memorials are to the Timbercrest Retirement Home, North Manchester, in care of Deal-Robbins & Van Gilder Funeral Home, 338 E. Washington St., Huntington, IN 46750.

Martha Lauer

Martha Lauer, 85, Tucson, Ariz., and formerly of Roanoke, died at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday (April 2, 2003) in Tucson.

There will be no calling hours.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Fort Wayne Catholic Cemetery, Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 28, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Roanoke. Father Kenneth Sarrazine will officiate both services.

Roanoke Memorial Chapel, 240 Crestwood Dr., Roanoke, is in charge of arrangements.

William E. Miller

William E. Miller, 89, Tucson, Ariz., a former resident of Huntington, died April 2 in Tucson.

Burial will be at a later date.

L. Earl Lyons

L. Earl Lyons, 93, 5593E-500S, died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday (April 8, 2003) at his residence.

Calling will be from 1-3 p.m. Friday at the Glancy Funeral Homes-H. Brown & Son Chapel, Warren, where funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday. James Crothers will preside at the service.

Burial will be at the Star of Hope Cemetery, Huntington.

Preferred memorials are to the Family Hospice of Northeast Indiana, 265 W. Water St., Berne, IN 46711.

Wilbur B. Brookover

Wilbur Bone Brookover, 92, East Lansing, Mich., died Sunday (April 6, 2003).

Services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Peoples Church, East Lansing, Mich. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Fairview Cemetery, Servia.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Michigan State University Development Fund, the East Lansing Educational Foundation, or the NAACP, in care of the Gorsline-Runciman Company East Chapel, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing MI 48823.

The Gorsline-Runciman Company is in charge of arrangements.

Kenneth D. Wilson

Kenneth D. Wilson, 79, Marion, died at 5:42 p.m. Wednesday (April 9, 2003) at the United Methodist Memorial Home in Warren.

Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday at the Ferguson Funeral Home, 201 W. Main, Van Buren, with Masonic services to follow at 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, with calling one hour prior to services, at the Central Christian Church in Van Buren. Rev. Pat Mullen will officiate.

Burial will be at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to the Central Christian Church in Van Buren , in care of Ferguson Funeral Home, 201 W. Main, P.O. Box 376, Van Buren, IN 46991.

Della Mae Hefner

Della Mae Hefner, 82, rural Huntington, died at 4:18 a.m. Thursday (April 10, 2003) at The Heritage of Huntington.

Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday. Pastor Bill Warax will officiate.

Interment will be at the Star of Hope Cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to the Northview Church of Christ, in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington, IN 46750.

Marie A. Winter

Marie A. Winter, 89, Yakima, Wash., died Tuesday (April 8, 2003) at the Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home, 1010 W. Yakima Ave., Yakima, Wash.

Burial will be at West Hills Memorial Park, Yakima.

Preferred memorials are to the William O. Douglas Project or the Union Gospel Mission, in care of Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home, 1010 W. Yakima Ave., Yakima, WA 98902.

Noel D. McDonald Sr.

Noel D. McDonald Sr., 56, Hartford City, died at 10:28 p.m. Thursday (April 10, 2003) at Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie, following a long illness.

Calling is from 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. Monday and from 8 a.m. until the 10 a.m. funeral service Tuesday at the Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St., Hartford City. Rev. Raymond Lake will officiate.

Burial will be at the Red Man Cemetery, Warren.

Preferred memorials are to the family, in care of Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St., Hartford City, IN 47348.

Berneice M. Garrison

Berneice M. Garrison, 86, 850 Ash St., died at 1:10 a.m. at Oakbrook Village, Huntington.

Mrs. Garrison was a homemaker and a seamstress. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Bippus.

Calling will be from 9:30 a.m. until the 11:30 a.m. funeral service Wednesday at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Bippus. Rev. William Hainstock will officiate.

Burial will be at a later date at the Riverside Cemetery, Andrews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Huntington Area Transportation (HAT), the St. John’s United Church of Christ, or the Huntington County Chapter of the American Red Cross, in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN 46750.

Lorean Ehler

Lorean Ehler, 88, Huntington, died at 10:35 a.m. Friday (April 11, 2003) at the United Methodist Memorial Home in Warren.

Calling is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, with calling one hour prior to services, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 648 N. LaFontaine St. Rev. Richard Lofgren will officiate.

Burial will be at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to St. Peter Lutheran Church or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN 46750.
