Fern M. Engleman
Fern M. Engleman, 86, died at 2:20 p.m. Monday (June 2, 2003) at the Bradner Village Healthcare Center, Marion.
Calling is from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Rd., Marion, where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday with Rev. Ralph Mitchell officiating.
Burial will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Huntington County.

Welcome Weaver
Welcome I. Weaver, the former president of the Weaver Popcorn Co. who also had served two terms on the Huntington County Community School Corporation board and was active in several Huntington organizations, died Tuesday. He was 88.
Mr. Weaver died at the Marquette Manor in Indianapolis.
Mr. Weaver joined the Weaver Popcorn Company — a firm founded by his father in 1928 — in 1945. He served as president of the company from the 1950s until his son, Mike, took over in the 1980s.
During his tenure with the company, Mr. Weaver served as president of the Popcorn Institute and treasurer of the National Association of Concessionaires. He was active in the company until 1998 and continued his interest in the company until his death.
The company now bills itself as the leading popcorn company in the world, with operations in Van Buren and also in Rojas, Argentina.
Mr. Weaver was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Indianapolis, Christ by the Sea United Methodist Church, Vero Beach, Fla., and Trinity United Methodist Church, Huntington. He served on the United Methodist Northern Indiana Conference’s Committee of Episcopacy, was a member of its Board of Trustees, was a member and chairman of its Foundation, and chaired its campaign to raise money for ministers’ pensions. He was also a member of the United Methodist Church’s North Central Jurisdictional Conferences in 1976, 1980, 1984 and 1988, and the church’s General Conferences in 1980 and 1984. He also served on the Board of Trustees of Garrett Theological Seminary, Evanston, Ill.
Mr. Weaver was a former resident of Huntington, where he served as president of the YMCA, the YMCA Foundation, United Way, and Kiwanis.
He was a member of the Huntington County Community School Board of Trustees from 1964 to 1972. During his tenure, the board completed the difficult and often unpopular task of consolidating nine Huntington County high schools into one.
Mr. Weaver earned a bachelor’s degree from Manchester College in 1937, a master’s degree in chemistry from Syracuse University in 1939, and a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh in 1943. While studying for his doctorate, he participated in research in plastics at the Mellon Institute in Pittsburgh. In 1988 he received an honorary degree, Doctor of Laws, from Manchester College.
He was born Oct. 6, 1914, in Eaton, to Rev. I.E. and Della Weaver. He married Adah Rodgers on June 28, 1941. His wife survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Dave (Patricia) Quade, Lake Bluff, Ill., and Mrs. Wayne (Barbara) Mohr, Green Bay, Wis.; a son, Mike Weaver, Indianapolis; six grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
A brother, sister, and grandson preceded him in death.
Calling will be held from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Saturday at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Indianapolis.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to a church, school or charity of the donor’s choice or to Manchester College, North Manchester; Marquette Manor, 8140 Township Line Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46260; or St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 100 W. 86th St., Indianapolis, IN 46260.
The Leppert and Hensley Mortuary, Nora Chapel, Indianapolis, is in charge of arrangements.
Hildred J. Millman
A graveside memorial service for Hildred J. Millman will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Riverside Cemetery, Andrews. William Warax and Mrs. Millman’s grandson, Scott Jennings, will conduct the memorial service.
Following the service, her ashes will be interred alongside her late husband, Burl C. Millman.
Mrs. Millman, 84, died Aug. 20, 2002, in Louisiana, where she had lived the past 23 years.
The Deal-Robbins & Van Gilder Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Bill McNamara
Bill P. McNamara, 60, a resident of Logan Street in Markle, died at 5:35 p.m. on Tuesday (June 3, 2003) at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Calling is 10-11 a.m. Friday at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee St., Markle, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday.
Burial will be at the Markle Cemetery
in Markle.

James R. Gamble, 80, Peru, died at 12:05 a.m. Wednesday (June 4, 2003) at Miller’s Merry Manor in Peru.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Deal-Robbins & Van Gilder Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Burial will be at the Mt. Etna Cemetery.
J. Forrest Luker
J. Forrest Luker, 80, a resident of Westminster Village in Muncie, died Wednesday (June 4, 2003) at Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at M. J. S. Mortuaries, D. W. Jones Chapel, Dunkirk.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, with calling one hour prior to services, at the Hazelwood Christian Church, Muncie. Burial will be at the Riverside Cemetery, Andrews.
Preferred memorials are to the Hazelwood Christian Church or the American Heart Association.

Lowell E. Gilbert, 79, Uniondale, died at 8:05 p.m. Thursday (June 5, 2003) at his home.

Charles H. Girton, 86, Kokomo, died at 11:15 a.m. Saturday (June 7, 2003) at Windsor Estates Health and Rehabilitation Center, Kokomo.
Calling is 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., Kokomo, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday. Rev. Richard Girton, Mr. Girton’s nephew, will officiate.

Dward Victor “D.V.” Heckman, 82, Lagro, died at 1 p.m. Tuesday (June 10, 2003) at Bickford Cottage in Wabash.
