Calling is from 2-6 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. funeral service Wednesday at the Bailey-Love Mortuary. Pastor Thomas Beers will officiate.

Burial will be at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.

Porter L. Eads

Porter L. Eads, 69, a former resident of Roanoke and of rural Huntington County, died at 8:30 p.m. Friday (Nov. 7, 2003) at Markle Health Care Center, Markle.

Calling is from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester Chapel, 1401 St. Rd. 114 W, North Manchester, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Rev. Ron Burns officiating.

Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.

Preferred memorials are to the American Cancer Society or American Diabetes. Association.

Wallace I. Burton

Wallace I. Burton, 77, Fort Wayne, died Friday (Nov. 7, 2003) at Riverbend Health Care, Fort Wayne.

Calling is from 5-9 p.m. Monday at Elzey Patterson Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Rd., Fort Wayne, and at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 2417 Getz Rd., Fort Wayne, one hour prior to the services, scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Burial will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Marion.

Preferred memorials are to Calvary United Methodist Church or Hospice of Northeast Indiana.

Robert E. Altman

Robert E. Altman, 77, of St. Charles, Mo., died at 5:11 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 5, 2003) at St. Louis University, St. Louis, Mo.

Calling was from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Baue Memorial Gardens Mortuary, Cave Springs, Mo., where funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday.

Burial will be at Baue Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Cave Springs.

Preferred memorials are to the American Legion Post 312, St. Louis, in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Dr., Huntington, IN 46750.

Dempsey ‘Ray’ Perry

Dempsey “Ray” Perry, 40, 1928 Aspen Ave., died at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 11, 2003) at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.

Calling is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the Bailey-Love Mortuary, with services at the mortuary at 1 p.m. Major Gerald Smelser will officiate.

Burial will be at the Mt. Hope Cemetery, with military services by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Perry family in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Dr., Huntington IN 46750.

Joseph E. Schmitt

Joseph Edward “Joe” Schmitt, 63, Pierceton, died Tuesday (Nov. 11, 2003) at Parkview Whitley Hospital.

Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, with recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m., at the McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 680 Cherry St., with Father John Guimond officiating.

Burial will be at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cancer Society of Huntington County, in care of the McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN 46750.

Lloyd J. Carter

Lloyd J. Carter, 95, Columbiana, Ohio, died Monday evening (Nov. 10, 2003) at St. Mary’s Alzheimer’s Center in Columbiana.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 119 Stadium Dr., Boardman, Ohio, with calling at the church one hour prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Church Memorial Fund, Westminster Presbyterian Church, 119 Stadium Dr., Boardman OH 44512.

The Davis Funeral Home, Youngstown, Ohio, is in charge of arrangements.

Randy J. Bills

Randy Joe Bills, 44, Santee, S.C., died at 9 p.m. Monday (Nov. 10, 2003).

Mr. Bills had lived in Columbia City before moving to Santee in 2001.

Calling is 1-8 p.m. Friday at the DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City. Services will be held at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Saturday. Pastor Curtiss Johnson and Gerald Bills will officiate. Burial will be at the South Park Annex Cemetery, Columbia City.

Preferred memorials are gifts to his children in care of Lake City Bank, Columbia City, with envelopes available at the funeral home.

Eugene M. Shoemaker

Eugene M. Shoemaker, 85, Lafayette, died Wednesday (Nov. 12, 2003) at his home.

Calling is 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the Fisher-Loy Funeral Chapel, 914 Columbia St., Lafayette. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Graveside military rites will be held at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or St. Elizabeth Hospice, Lafayette.

Robert D. Heckman

Robert D. “Bob” Heckman, 55, Bluffton, died at 12:50 a.m. Thursday (Nov. 13, 2003) at Bluffton Regional Medical Center.

Calling is from 6-8 p.m. Friday and 2-8 p.m. Saturday at Thoma/Rich, Hewitt & Chaney Funeral Home, 308 W. Washington St., Bluffton. Calling is also one hour prior to the funeral services, which are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at First Church of the Nazarene, Bluffton, with Rev. Walter Graeflin and Rev. Larry Sheets officiating.

military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 111 at Fairview North Mausoleum, Bluffton.

Preferred memorials are to the Bluffton Fraternal Order of Firefighters.

Mary E. Arnold, 87, a resident of the United Methodist Memorial Home, Warren, died there at 11:40 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 13, 2003).

Calling is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Glancy Funeral Homes-H. Brown & Son Chapel, Warren, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday with Rev. John Pattison officiating.

Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Warren.

E. Mildred Scher

E. Mildred Scher, 97, of Berne, died at 7:20 a.m. Friday (Nov. 14, 2003) at the Swiss Village Retirement Community Berne, where she had lived since 1995.

Calling will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the Swiss Village Retirement Community,625 Deborah Lane, Berne, and one hour before the 10:30 a.m. Monday funeral services at the Glancy Funeral Homes - Walker Chapel, 109 W. Windsor St., Montpelier, with Chaplin Anita Rediger officiating.. Burial will be at the Twin Hill Cemetery, Pennville.

Preferred memorials are to the Swiss Village Retirement Community, 625 Deborah Lane, Berne, IN 46711; the American Diabetes. Association; or the Family Hospice of Northeast Indiana, 265 W. Water St., Berne, IN 46711.

Doyle W. Myers

Doyle W. Myers, 85, a resident of the United Methodist Memorial Home in Warren, died at 8:40 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 15, 2003) at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

Calling is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, with Masonic services at 8 p.m., at the Bailey-Love Mortuary, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday with Rev. Robert Edward officiating.

Burial will be at Beech Grove Cemetery, Clear Creek Township.

Memorials are to the donor’s choice of charities, in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Dr., Huntington, IN 46750.

Judith A. Garrett

Judith Arlene Garrett, 63, Knapp Lake, died at 7:54 a.m. Sunday (Nov. 16, 2003) at Parkview Whitley Hospital.

Calling is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Interment will be at the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.
