Dawn Bowers

Dawn Marie Bowers, 21, of Evansville, died 11:44 p.m. Monday, February 18, 2002, at St. Mary's Medical Center. She was born September 1, 1980.

Dawn was a 1998 academic honors graduate of Central High School, where she was a member of the R.O.T.C Color Guard. She was a junior at the University of Southern Indiana, majoring in psychology and criminology.

Dawn was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority, Lambda Beta Chapter of USI. She worked part time at Hooters Restaurant. She served an internship at Vanderburgh County Child Protective Services. Dawn was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Memorial tributes may be made online at www.mem.com

Survivors are her mother, Sharyi Bryan of Evansville; her father, Robert L. Bowers; stepfather, Danny Bryan; stepmother, Nicole K. Bowers; sisters, Heather Bryan and Stevie Bowers, both of Evansville; grandparents, Ronald and Sheila Bowers, Darrel and Patricia Wiley and Dorothy and Robert Rheinlander; grandmother, Jean Lopez; grandparents, Daniel and Mary Daniels; nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; and cousins.

Services Saturday 10 a.m. February 23, 2002, at Alexander North Chapel, Reverend Earl Rohleder officiating, burial in Locust Hill Cemetery.

Visitation Friday, February 22, 2002, from 1 to 8 p.m. at Alexander North Chapel.

'Doug' Collins

Frank "Doug" Collins, 75, of 763 Judson St., Evansville, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at St. Mary's Medical Center of a heart attack.

He had worked for the L&N Railroad and Evansville Waterworks Department. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

He was a family man and touched the hearts of many with his smile. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Coleen Collins; two daughters, Rita Collins and Teretha "Penny" Hooper, both of Evansville; two sisters, Mary Jean Baker and Martha Jane Landers, both of Evansville; three brothers, Isaac "Ike" and Donnel Collins, both of Evansville, and Billy Ray Collins of Philadelphia; a grandson, Kent T. Bailey of Evansville; 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are pending with Osborne Funeral Home, entombment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Laura Fetscher

Laura Marie Fetscher, 86, of Evansville, died Wednesday, February 20, 2002, at Deaconess Hospital. Laura retired from Evansville Material Inc. after 25 years of service. She enjoyed going to work everyday - it was her whole life. Even after retirement, she always loved to return for the company picnics and Christmas parties.

She was a member of St. John's East United Church of Christ. She volunteered as a Pink Lady with St. Mary's Medical Center. She was a member of the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, River Bend Ladies Auxiliary and VFW 1114 Ladies Auxiliary, where she worked the bingo games. She enjoyed college basketball. She was an avid U of E Aces fan and enjoyed attending all of the basketball games. She was very athletic as a youngster, and played baseball for ACOS Candy Kids. She swam on the swim team and enjoyed bowling.

She is survived by a sister, Gertrude Hartig of Evansville; and nieces and nephews. Her husband of 54 years, Marvin "Uncle Pete" died in April, 2000.

Funeral services are planned for 10 a.m. Friday, February, 22, 2002, at Browning Funeral Home, Rev. Dan Kincaid officiating, with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 21, 2002, at Browning Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's East United Church of Christ.

Jim Gieselman

Jim W. Gieselman, 77, of Newburgh, passed away Wed. morning Feb. 20, 2002, at his residence in Newburgh.

He retired in 1993 as a quality control technician from Alcoa Warrick Operations. He was a member of Lynnville Masonic Lodge. He was an avid sportsman and loved bowling, fishing and watching IU basketball.

He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Norma (Harkness); a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Jim Halle of Newburgh; a son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Kim Gieselman of Winslow; grandchildren, Seth and Cody Gieselman and Jessie and Jamie Halle; a brother, Forrest Gieselman of Evansville; sisters, Deloris McKinney and Arlene Brammer, both of Newburgh, and Viola Floyd of Spurgeon.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Loral Gieselman and his parents, Frank and Opal Gieselman.

Services are at 10 a.m Sat. from Bradley Colonial Chapel in Boonville, with burial in the Spurgeon Cemetery in Spurgeon, Ind. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Fri. at Bradley Colonial Chapel in Boonville and from 8 a.m. to service time Sat. at the Funeral home.

Contributions in memory of Jim may be made to the American Heart Association.

Rose Hodge

Rose A. Hodge, 90, of Evansville, died at 1:57 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at Woodlands Convalescent Center. She was born March 3, 1911.

Rose was a member of Olivet Presbyterian Church. She was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star 555 and a member of Bethlehem White Shrine, Hadi Patrol Wives and Isis Temple Daughters of the Nile.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Jewell, on October 30, 1999.

Survivors are a daughter, Carolyn Koehnen of Newburgh; 3 grandchildren, Cheri Neel, Ciby Shaw and Rozy Dillinger; and 6 great-grandchildren.

Services Friday at 10 a.m., February 22, 2002, at Alexander East Chapel, Dr. James T. Heady officiating, burial in Locust Hill Cemetery.

Visitation today, February 21, 2002, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Alexander East Chapel.

Donations may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

Robert Martin

Robert R. "Bob" Martin, 75, of Evansville, died 1:52 p.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2002, at Deaconess Hospital.

Mr. Martin worked for Servel Inc. for 24 years. Late in the 1050s he worked for Johann Funeral Home as an emergency ambulance driver and retired in 1982 after 20 years from Bucyrus-Erie as a test operator. He was also an Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. Bob was a member of the Lessing Masonic Lodge 464, Scottish Rite and Hadi Shrine Temple and he attended Cornerstone Assembly of God.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ina (Pickett) Martin; a daughter, Connie Martin of Evansville; and a son, Robert V. Martin of Evansville.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, February 22, 2002, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, 5330 Washington Avenue, with Reverend Rod Murray officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Feb. 21, 2002, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to Evansville Masonic Temple Association Irrevocable Charitable Trust, 301 Chestnut, Evansville, Ind. 47713.

Frances Niehaus

Frances (Moll) Nie-haus, 83, of Evansville, died at Perry County Memorial Hospital, Tuesday, February 10, 2002.

She was a Catholic. She worked at Indiana Bell, de Jong's and at Deaconess and Welborn hospitals as a switchboard operator. She liked to crochet and loved baseball and reading.

She is survived by a daughter, Garnet Stowe and son-in-law Ron Stowe of Bristow, Ind., with whom she lived; a brother, George Moll of Evansville; grandchildren, Broc Branham, Marta McClanahan, Paula Peerman, Tracy Kessler and Marilee Niehaus-Waldron; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, who died in September of 1990, her son, Larry Lee Niehaus, who died in April of 1996 and a granddaughter, Stacey, who died in April of 2001.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2002, at Browning Funeral Home, Fr. Bernard Lutz officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, February 22, 2002, and Saturday, February 23, 2002, from 9 a.m. to service time at Browning Funeral Home.

Reba Renshaw

Reba E. Renshaw, 87, of Evansville and formerly of Carmi, Ill., died Wednesday morning, February 20, 2002, at Angel River Nursing Home in Evansville. She was born September 18, 1914, in White County, Ill., the daughter of Luke and Cora (Haley) Bryant. She married Herman F. Renshaw and he preceded her in death in 1975.

Mrs. Renshaw was a homemaker. She attended the Carmi Church of God.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Meryl and Carleen Renshaw of Evansville; one daughter and son-in-law, Corena and Richard Maurer of Evansville; one stepdaughter, Mary Beth Shook of Carmi; five grandchildren, Terrell Maurer, Greg Renshaw, Mark Renshaw, Elizabeth Culley and Melissa Turpin; seven great-grandchildren, Katie and Henry Maurer, Brent, Erin, Kenny and Zachary Renshaw and Treven Turpin; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Beulah and Harlan Kermicle of LeMesa, Calif., Ernestine and Oral Hale of Harrisburg, Ill., and Kathleen and Phillip Gill of Galatia, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sons, Ray Fulkerson and Herman Renshaw Jr.; a brother, Hal Bryant and one sister, Lillian Hughes.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 22, 2002, at the Kittinger-Fair Funeral Home in Carmi, Ill. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. that morning until the time of the service. Burial will be in Union Ridge Cemetery in New Haven, Ill.

Elma Roeder

Elma I. Roeder, 84, of Evansville, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at Deaconess Hospital.

There are no immediate survivors.

Services 1 p.m. Friday at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel, burial in Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to service time.

Memorial contributions may be made to Rockport Children's Library.
