Ida Ruth Hughes
Former Anderson resident, Ida Ruth Hughes, 94, Indianapolis, passed away Friday, April 27, 2007, at Saint Frances Hospital in Beech Grove following a brief illness.
She was born on July 8, 1912, in Anderson, Indiana to Walter and Blanche (Cleveland) Hughes.
Ida was co-owner of Wolfe's Floral in rural Lapel for many years.
She is survived by one brother, J. Robert Hughes of Indianapolis; two nephews, Jack (wife, Irma) Hughes, and Tom Hughes both of Anderson; one niece, Patricia (husband, Fred) Riggs of Anderson; two great-nephews, Robert (wife, Jina) Hughes, and David Hughes, and three great-nieces, Carol Riggs, Kelly (husband, Tim) Hayes, and Elissa Avina; and several great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by, her parents; three sisters, Myrle, Martha June and Doris Louise Hughes; and one brother, Russell H. Hughes.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel. Burial will follow in Park View Cemetery, Alexandria.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
Ila Mae Clinton
Ila Mae Clinton, 102, Lapel, passed away Monday September 19, 2005, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville following an extended illness.
She was born on May 20, 1903, in Celina, Tennessee to Lindsey and Tinsy West.
She is survived by four children, Alyne Mendenhall of Orlando, FL, Dodie (husband, Milt) Pennington of Celina, TN, Robert (wife, Betty) Clinton of Cookville, TN, and Ray Clinton of Cincinnati, OH; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren, and special caregiver, Denise Wilkinson of Lapel .
She was preceded in death by her husband Fowler Clinton; and 3 children, Edwin Clinton, Frankie Boles, and Nell Clinton.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Chris Lee officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside Cemetery
in Lapel.
Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.

Ivan G. Geiger
Ivan Gene Geiger, 73, Anderson, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2007, at his home. Even after all things that human hands could do he lost his battle with cancer.
He was born on November 24, 1933, in Anderson, Indiana to Ivan L. and Dorothy (Key) Geiger.
Ivan retired as superintendent of the Anderson sub district of the Indiana State Highway Department.
He attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel, South Meridian Church of God, and Big Lake Church of God.
Ivan enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, camping, traveling, and spending time with his family. He loved life and people.
He married Janice E. Fulks on October 30, 1965 and she survives with three children, Darin G. (wife, Martha) Geiger of Indianapolis, Elizabeth (husband, Chuck) Gallagher of Lapel, and Ivan W. (wife, Stephanie) Geiger of Pendleton; eight grandchildren, Lewis, Adam, and Diana Geiger, Ethan, Emma and Evan Gallagher, Jordan and Alec Geiger; one brother, Gary (wife, Debi) Geiger of Parrish, FL; one sister, Leann (husband, Scott) Brady of Sarasota, FL; one uncle, Charles (wife, Billie) Geiger of Anderson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel with Rev. Evan Lash officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel and one hour prior to the funeral service Wednesday at the church.

Jennifer J. Retherford
Jennifer J. Retherford, 63, Anderson, passed away Monday, May 9, 2005, at her residence following a sudden illness.
She was born on March 9, 1942, in Lee County, Virginia to Peter and Cornia (Hilton) Risco.
She retired from Guide Division of GM and she enjoyed studying Karate.
She is survived by her dear friend, Donald Wallace of Anderson; two sons, Scott (wife, Kathy) Retherford of Anderson, and Barry Retherford of Lapel; two sisters, Mary Alice Jones of Noblesville, and Patsy Carlin of Lapel; three grandchildren, Kayley Retherford, Branson Harris Retherford, and Brittiany Luttrell; and one great granddaughter, Madison Luttrell.
Services will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Jeff Young officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside Cemetery, Lapel.
Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.
James L. Willoughby
James L. Willoughby, 78, Anderson, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at Rawlins House in Pendleton following an extended illness.
He was born on February 1, 1927, in southern Indiana to William and Mary (Rector) Willoughby.
He was a 1945 Anderson High School graduate and was a WWII Navy veteran. He retired from Delco Remy as an engineer.
He was a member of the West Anderson Jehovah's Witnesses Church for over 50 years.
He is survived by wife, Joyce Willoughby of Anderson; one son, Brad (wife, Janet) Willoughby of Anderson; one daughter, Jennifer (husband, Paul) Thornton of Anderson; two sisters, Nina Rose Humbles of Warsaw, and Delora Mae Fisher of Colorado; four grandchildren, Robert (wife, Mikhail) Willoughby, Steven (wife, Amy) Willoughby, Matthew (wife, Janelle) Thornton, and Nicole (husband, Jimmie) McCambridg; and five great grandchildren, Nathanial Willoughby, Aliza Willoughby, Ian Willoughby, Kiley Thornton, and Savannah Thornton.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday at Gravel Lawn Cemetery
in Fortville and burial will follow.
There will be no calling hours.
Janet R. Forrer
Janet R. Forrer, 68, Lapel, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2007, at her residence following a brief illness.
She was born on October 24, 1938, in Pendleton, Indiana to Glen and Mary (Carson) Haskell.
She graduated from Lapel High School in 1956.
Janet retired in 2000 from Madison Community Bank after 16 years of employment.
She is survived by her husband, Merritt "Toot" Forrer; three daughters, Cindy Stevens (spouse, Allison Wise) of Anderson, Beth (husband, Stephen) James, and Cara (husband, Frank) Russell both of Lapel; six granddaughters, Shawna Heck (companion, Jim Beemer) of Alexandria, Sara Russell of Lapel, Nikki Heck of Anderson, Mary (husband, Josh) Mullins of Lapel, Kelcie Forrer (friend, Danny Kleckner) of West Harrison, and Katie James of Lapel; two great-grandchildren, Morgan Heck of Anderson, and Tyler Beemer of Alexandria; two sisters, Judi Beasley of Lapel and Marilyn (husband, Jim) Caudell of Pendleton; one brother, Joe (wife, Karen) Haskell of Pendleton; her father-in-law, Harold Forrer of Lapel; and several in-laws, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Norma Smithers and Phyllis White; and one brother, Arza Haskell.
Private burial will take place at Brookside Cemetery
in Lapel.
There will be no visitation.

M. Janice Hoover
M. Janice (Blake) Hoover, 72, Noblesville, passed away Feb. 21, 2006, at The Hearth of Windemere in Fishers following an extended illness.
She was born on June 27, 1933, in Lapel, the daughter of Scott and Margaret (Snyder) Blake.
She was a member of the Ford Street United Methodist Church, and the former Lapel Order of Eastern Star Chapter 457. She had also been active with the Lapel Jobs Daughters Bethel.
She is survived by three children, Brian (wife, Lisa) Hoover of Fishers, Dawn Chaudion of Indianapolis, and Deanna Hoover of Colorado; two brothers, Scott Blake II of Florida, and Tony (wife, Deborah) Blake of Munster; her mother-in-law, Bernice Hoover of Noblesville; and five grandchildren, Alison Hoover, Erika Hoover, Nathan Hoover, Andrea (husband, Sam) Pierce and Rusty Chaudion.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Hoover; her parents; a sister, Sandra; and her father-in-law, Raymond Hoover.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with the Rev. Harold Scott officiating. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery
in Lapel.
Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Jerry D. Burke
Jerry D. Burke, 70, Anderson, left this world to start his new journey with the Lord Sunday, April 23, 2006.
He was born on September 25, 1935, in Lapel, Indiana the son of Emory and Floe (Castor) Burke.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel and he loved playing softball.
He is survived by three brothers, Emory Jay (wife, Frances) Burke of Noblesville, Carroll (wife, Barbara) Burke of Pendleton, and Lester (wife, Becky) Burke of Lapel; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Burke of Lapel; four nieces, Linda (husband, Steve) Castor of Pendleton, Lana Kaye (husband, Greg) Beaudoin of Cadillac, MI, Pamela (husband, Keith) Benzenbauer of Anderson, and Mary Kay Jackson of Tuscon, AZ; two nephews, Gary (wife, Carla) Burke of Anderson, and John Burke of Tuscon, AZ; and several cousins and aunts. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Kenneth Burke, and Vonzel Burke; a sister, Ruth Burke; and a nephew, Tommy Burke.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Evan Lash officiating. Burial will be at the Crownland Cemetery
in Noblesville.
