Ivan G. Horning
Ivan G. Horning, 78, Anderson, passed away Thursday, March 18, 2004, at his residence.
He was born on August 14, 1925, in Hamilton County, Indiana to Andrew and Alice (Bannister) Horning, Sr..
He honorably served his country in the Army during the Korean War, and retired in 1980 from Delco Remy after 31 years of employment.
He was a member of the Beall's Chapel United Methodist Church and the Lapel American Legion Post 212 and the NRA.
He is survived by his wife, Mary L. (Illges) Horning; four children, Vicky (husband, Charles) Schroeder of Noblesville, Mike (Kim Wilson) Horning of Anderson, Susan (Bill Savage) Gray of Anderson, and Gerald (wife, Susan) Horning of Elwood; two sisters, Dorothy (husband, Ralph) Martin of Columbus, and Mary Kreig of Leesburg, FL; nine grandchildren, Angela DeVaney, Chrissy Manis, Jami Horning, Randi Shuck, Alex Shuck, Andy Horning, Adrienne Horning, Kirtis Horning, and, Kasey Horning; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday at Beall's Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Lee officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside Cemetery, Lapel.
Friends may call from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM Sunday at the Beall's Chapel United Methodist Church.

Howard (Junior) Mills
Howard "Junior" Mills, 83, Noblesville, passed away Friday, February 11, 2005 at Riverwalk Village in Noblesville following an extended illness.
He was born on June 26, 1921, in Hamilton Co., Indiana to Howard, Sr. and Margaret (Woodward) Mills.
He was a 1939 Lapel High School graduate and he received his dregee in pharmacy from Butler University in 1951. He served in the Air Force as a Tech Sgt in the Pacific Theater during World War II from 1942 to 1945.
He was the manager of the former Gwinns Drugs in Lapel for many years and had also been employed by Hooks and CVS in Anderson, Tipton, and Noblesville.
He was a member of Faith Community Church in Noblesville and was president of the West Central Community School Board from 1973 to 1977.
He is survived by his wife, Carol (Gaugle, Brown) Mills whom he married on October 16, 1946; one son, John (wife, Camille) Mills of Seattle, WA; a step-son, J. Michael (wife, Paula) Brown of Boerne, TX; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Suzanne C. Mills; two brothers, Harry Eugene Mills, and Joe Richard Mills; and a sister, Mary Kay Weaver.
Services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Allan Hazen officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside Cemetery in Lapel.
Friends may call from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Tuesday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.

Sarilda E. Hooper
Sarilda E. Hooper, age 91, died on Saturday August 21, 2004 at the Miller Merry Manor after a brief illness.
She was born on October 6, 1912 in Seymore, Indiana , daughter of John and Edna (Ginder) Bohall.
She is survived by four children, Beverly (husband, Harold) Dashiell of Noblesville, Carole Loughman of Anderson, David (wife, Rebecca) Hooper of Anderson, and Sherry McCorkle of Pendleton; three sisters, Ruth Tuttle of Fortville, Ann Kendricks of Fortville, and Jean Cross of Greenfield; thirteen grandchildren, a granddaughter she raised Michelle (Hooper) Hanners, and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ora M. Hooper, two sons, Richard Neal Hooper, John Dennis Hooper and daughter Terry Jarrell; five sisters, Mary Trueblood, Irene Husted, Laura Short, Elsie Freeman, and Mildred Hibbs; a brother John Bohall.
A special thanks to Miller's Merry Manor nursing staff, and a very special thanks to Betty Jo and Sandy.
Service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home at 1010 North Main Lapel with Rev. Mark Helm officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the donors choice.

Helen J. Myers
Helen J. Myers, 84, of Lapel, passed away Tuesday April 6, 2004 at Saint John's Health System Anderson, following a brief Illness.
She was born on January 11, 1920 in Anderson, the daughter of Fred and Flora (Hancock) Willits. She was a 1938 graduate of Lapel High School and attended Purdue University.
She married Marion A. Myers on June 18, 1941, and helped him start the Myers Insurance Agency in 1956. She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church since 1941, and a member of the Nameless Bridge Club.
Survivors include two sons, Bob (wife, Kitty) Myers of Lapel, and Jim (wife Cherie) Myers of Lapel, four granddaughters, Betsy (husband, Jim) Taylor, Julie (husband, Greg) Moster, Jennifer (husband, Sean) Connolly, and Amy Myers. Two great grandsons (Matthew Taylor and Alex Moster) also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Myers, on January 26, 2004, her parents, and a brother, John Willits.
Services will be held 10:00 AM Friday, April 9, 2004 at Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Evan Lash officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside Cemetery in Lapel.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday at the funeral home located at 1010 N. Main Street in Lapel.

Helen Griffin
Helen Griffin, 59, Noblesville, passed away Friday, September 24, 2004, at Sycamore Village Healthcare in Kokomo following an extended illness.
She was born on January 29, 1945, in Gray Hawk, Kentucky to Ruben and Lillie (Parrott) Sams.
She is survived by her mother, Lillie Roberts of Noblesville; nine brothers and sisters, Ed Sams of Shreveport, LA, Adrian Sams of Kokomo, Charles Sams of Atlanta, Dallas Sams of Kokomo, Rubin Sams of Batesville, Lucille DeBarr of Atlanta, Carolyn Schreibeis of Sunman, Mollie Menchaca of Noblesville, and Chrystlene Summers of Tompkinsville, KY; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Bill Griffin; and her daughter, Ramona Faust.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel. Burial will be at the Brookside Cemetery, Lapel.
Friends may call from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Monday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.

Helen A. Gentry
Helen A. Gentry, 95, former Noblesville and Anderson resident, passed away Thursday, August 26, 2004, at Miller's Merry Manor in Chesterfield following an extended illness.
She was born on June 9, 1909, in Hamilton Couty, Indiana to Scott and Amy (McDonald) Anderson.
She had worked in several Anderson department stores as a seamstress in their tailor shops and she retired from the Dorthy Blevins Shop in 1973. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Gentry in 1984.
She was a member of the Edgewood Baptist Church and she entered the Lapel Order of Eastern Star Chapter 457 in 1932 and served as Worthy Matron in 1940. She was also a member of R. S. V. P. in Anderson.
She is survived by one daughter, Rita (husband, William) Hunt of Anderson; two grandchildren, Tim (wife, Nancy) Hunt, and Angelia (husband, Don) Wilson both of Anderson; four great grandsons, Daniel Hunt, Andrew Hunt, Joseph Barcus, and Jonathan Barcus all of Anderson; two step-granddaughters, Alexis Wilson and Raquel Wilson both of Alexandria; special nieces, Viola Goldstein of Las Vegas, NV, Norma Leeman, and Sherry Minton both of Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, Lapel with Rev. Tom Lutz officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside Cemetery in Lapel.
Friends may call from 1:00 PM until the time of the service Saturday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Edgewood Baptist Church, 3743 West Nichol Avenue, Anderson, Indiana 46011.

Harry C. Kaiser, Jr.
Harry Conrad Kaiser, Jr., 80, Noblesville, passed away Sunday January 11, 2004, at Riverview Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born on August 28, 1923, in Cicero, Indiana to Harry and Edith (Kepner) Kaiser, Sr.
He was a farmer most of his life and he retired from Brockway Glass in Lapel after seventeen years of employment. After retiring, he went to work for veterinarian Fred Benker where he continued until his 80th year and where he was able to continue his love of horses. He served as trustee of Wayne Township in Hamilton County for 12 years.
He is survived by wife of 60 years, Betty (Davis) Kaiser; three daughters, Connie (husband, Ronnie) Wyant of Lapel, Mickey (husband, Steve) Lowe of Anderson, and Susan (husband, Dan) Krotz of Berryville, AK; one sister, Jane Owens of Noblesville; six grandchildren, Tammy and Scott Hersberger, Jim and Jacquie Wyant, Bill and Laura McGuire, Jennifer Lowe, Stephanie Lowe, and Mary Krotz; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Noblesville with Pastor Doug Gast and Dr. James Fleck officiating. Burial will be at the Zimmer Cemetery in Noblesville.
Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.

George O. Taylor
George O. Taylor, 75, Anderson, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born on October 26, 1928, in Lapel, IN to Leroy and Gladys (Lewis) Taylor.
He was a 1947 Anderson High School graduate and a Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired in 1981 from Delco Remy after 31 years of employment.
He was a member of the Anderson Loyal Order of Moose, the Anderson V. F. W., the Anderson and Alexandria Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Anderson American Legion, the Anderson Elks Club and the Pendleton Amvets.
He is survived by two daughters, Nita (husband, Terry) Breedon of Anderson and Sherry McClure of Bartlett, TN; one sister, Leona (husband, Robert) Lowder of Anderson; seven grandchildren, Carmen (husband, Eddie) Taipalus, Colette Hasting, Melissa (husband, Mark) Watts, Amber Johnson, Troy Breeden, Shawn (wife, Tina) Walker and, Ashley (husband, Jeremy) McIntyre; nine great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; and special partner, Barbara Reser of Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his parent and a brother, Robert Taylor.
Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Saturday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel. Burial will be at the Brookside Cemetery, Lapel at a later date. There will be no funeral service.

Garfield G. Steedman
Garfield G. Steedman, 92, Franklin, passed away Monday, March 1, 2004, at Franklin United Methodist Community in Franklin following a brief illness.
He was born on January 10, 1912, in Churchville, NY to William and Jean (Donald) Steedman.
He received a BA from Taylor University in Upland and a Masters in Theology from Drew Theological Seminary in Madison, NJ. He served as pastor at Cicero UMC, Williamsburg-Greens Fork UMC, Kendallville UMC, Bourbon UMC, Trinity UMC (Lapel), Union City UMC, Mishawaka East UMC, and Church of the Savior UMC in Cleveland Heights, OH where he retired in 1977.
He attended Grace UMC in Franklin and was a member of the Lapel Lions Club, the Union City Rotary, and the North Webster Kiwanis.
He is survived by his wife, Marian (Matthew) Steedman; two sons, Donald L. Steedman of Covington, KY and Richard B. Steedman of Evansville; seven grandchildren, David A. Steedman, Angela L. Vasser, Allison J. Steedman, Brian J. Steedman, Emily S. Steedman, Jeffrey M. Steedman, Daniel A. Steedman; one great-grandson, Carson Matthew Vasser; and two daughters-in-law, Kathy Steedman and Barbara Steedman.
He was preceded in death in 1990 by a son, Robert W. "Rob" Steedman.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday at North Webster United Methodist Church in North Webster with Rev. Scott Mann officiating.
Friends may call from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday or 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM Thursday at the North Webster United Methodist Church in North Webster and 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM Thursday at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Lapel. A commital service will follow in Brookside Cemetery in Lapel with Rev. Evan Lash officiating.
