Ruth Boone Herron
Ruth Boone Herron, 95, Lapel, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at Manor Care in Anderson.
She was born on January 5, 1912, in Lapel, Indiana, to Glenn and Lulu (Graham) Boone.
She graduated from Lapel High School in 1930 and received a Bachelor of Arts from Ball State University in 1959.
Ruth retired in 1977 after 30 years as an elementary and junior high school teacher at Lapel School and was previously the editor of The Lapel Review.
She was a lifelong member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel, the Lida Teeters Circle of the church, the Lapel Rural Garden Club, the Indiana State Teachers Association, the Indiana Retired Teachers Association, the Duo Bridge Club, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the former Lapel Golden Glows and the former Lapel Order of Eastern Star Chapter 457.
She is survived by one daughter, Rita (husband, Tom) Brown, Louisville, KY; one granddaughter, Nora Brown of Louisville, KY; a nephew, Philip Boone of Lapel; close friends, Mary and Wilbur Pettigrew of Anderson; one brother-in-law; two sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, David Clark Herron.
Funeral will be held at 10:30 am Saturday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Evan Lash officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel.
Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.

Ruby Frances Smith
Ruby Frances Smith, 75, Pendleton, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2007, at Saint John's Health System in Anderson following a brief illness.
She was born on February 9, 1932, in Paris, Kentucky to Omer and Geneva (Sears) Williams.
She graduated from Anderson High School.
Ruby was a member of the Fishersburg Wesleyan Church.
She is survived by three children, Ed Reeves of Anderson, Warren Reeves of Anderson, and Norma Bunnell of Greencastle; two step-daughters, Kristen Smith and Deena Smith both of Anderson; three grandchildren, Abraham Bunnell, Sarah McMillan, and Amber Bunnell; one great-grandson, Clayton McMillan; and one step-great-grandson, Braxton Kean.
She was preceded in death by, her parents and her husband, Norman Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Raymond Hood officiating. Burial will follow in East Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel
Robert W. Miller, Sr
Robert W. Miller, Sr. 91, Lapel, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2007, at Riverwalk Village Noblesville after a period of declining health.
He was born on May 28, 1915, in Anderson, Indiana to Robert and Lydia (Young) Miller.
Bob was a Lapel High School graduate and he retired in 1980 from Delco Remy plant 11 after 40 years employment as a tinsmith and sheet metal worker.
He was a member of the Ford Street United Methodist Church in Lapel. Bob was an avid bowler and participated in bowling leagues even up to age 86.
He is survived by three children, Robert W. (wife, Sandy) Miller, Jr. of Lapel, Janice Owens of Beech Grove, and Marilyn (husband, Vernon) Reifeis of Indianapolis; a step-daughter, Judy Davis of Lapel; five grandchildren, Ray (Marsha) Huffman, Norman Huffman, Robert W. "Rob" (wife, Ann) Miller, III, Ben (Trina) Phillips, Susan Phillips; four great-grandchildren, Creighton Thompson, Carrington Thompson, Katarina Huffman, and Michael Shull.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of 54 years, Esther (Coate) Miller; his second wife, Audrey (Critser) Davis Miller; and a brother, Charles Miller.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Mark Helm officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside Cemetery
in Lapel.
Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.

Robert E. “Bob” Coleman
Robert E. “Bob” Coleman, 57, Lapel, passed away Friday, April 20, 2007, at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born on August 27, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan to Everett and Irene (Prater) Coleman.
He graduated from Arlington High School in 1968, received an associate’s degree from Pikeville Community College in 1988, and was a U. S. Navy veteran.
Robert he had been self employed as a gunsmith, was a tax assessor for the State of Indiana and sold Prudential Insurance.
He was a life member of the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by three children, Chris Coleman of Pendleton, Sean Coleman of Pendleton, and Hannah (husband, James) Lewis of Clarksville, TN; one brother, Keith (wife, Barbara) Coleman of Indianapolis; one sister, Sandra (husband, James) Hutchison of Indianapolis; and one grandson, Zemery Lewis.
He was preceded in death by, his parents.
There will be no visitation or funeral service.
Richard A. Walters
Richard A. Walters, 70, Anderson, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2007, at VA Northern Indiana Health Care System Fort Wayne following a brief illness.
He was born on September 9, 1936, in Markleville, Indiana to Ralph and Frances (Short) Walters.
He was a member of the Ford Street United Methodist Church and the Lapel Masonic Lodge No. 625.
He is survived by two sons, Clayton (wife, Patricia) Walters of Atlanta, GA, and Curtis Walters of Cranston, RI; one brother, Robert Walters of Stuart, FL; one sister, Arlene Earlandson of Middletown; two grand-daughters, Jessica Walters, and Kristen McCracken; and one great-grandson, Bryson McCracken.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Nancy (Hackleman) Walters.
Masonic memorial services will be conducted by the Lapel Masonic Lodge at 6:00 PM Tuesday followed by funeral services with Rev. Harold Scott officiating both will take place at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.

Richard R. Tooley
Richard R. Tooley, 82, Anderson, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2006, at Saint John's Health System in Anderson following an extended illness.
He was born on March 16, 1924, in Anderson, Indiana to Thomas and Jeanette (Fisher) Tooley.
Richard was retired from farming and also from the Madison County Highway Department. He also drove a school bus in Jackson Township at one time.
He was a member of the Perkinsville Community Church and he had been the head cashier for the Perkinsville Fish Fry for over 50 years. He was also a member of the Lapel Masonic Lodge No. 625, and the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie Belle (Hiday) Tooley; one daughter, Brenda (husband, Lanny) Fenters of Orestes; two grandsons, Barry (wife, Crystal) Fenters of Frankton, and Cory Fenters of Orestes;
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ruth Conrad.
Services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Mark Aleshire officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside Cemetery
in Lapel.
Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel. A Masonic memorial service will be held at 7:30 pm Friday.
Richard L. Johns
Richard L. Johns, 31, Lapel, passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2006, at Community Hospital in Anderson after a sudden illness.
He was born on September 7, 1975, in Greenfield, Indiana to Harold and Margaret (Davidson) Johns.
He was a 1995 Lapel High School graduate and was employed as a driver with B & W Transport in Indianapolis.
He was a member of the Lapel Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his mother, Margaret (Davidson) Smith of Lapel; his father and step-mother, Harold and Resa Johns of Merritt Island, FL; a brother, Bob (wife, Candy) Johns of Lapel; a sister, Rebecca (husband, Clark) Myers of Lapel; his step-father, Rick Smith of Pendleton; a step-brother, Kip Stoops of Pendleton; his girlfriend, Brittnee House of Lapel; eight nieces and nephews, Jeremiah Johns, Cassie Castor, Brandon Johns, Kaitlyn Johns, Caleb Johns, Ashlee Johns, Kaylie Myers, and Kara Myers; two aunts, Sara (husband, Hugh) Clark of Lapel, and Sharon (husband, Marvin) Bland of Pendleton; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bob and Opal Davidson and Roy and Georgia Johns; and an uncle, James Davidson.
Services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Richard Cole officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside Cemetery
in Lapel.

James E. Hersberger
James E. Hersberger, 68, Anderson, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2006, at his residence surrounded by his family which was his wish.
He was born on September 7, 1937, in Anderson, Indiana to Tom and Hattie (Hoffman) Hersberger.
He was a 1955 Lapel High School graduate and a former 4-H leader. He retired from E & B Paving.
He was a member of the Pendleton Church of Christ.
He is survived by three children, Ronald (wife, Dede) Hersberger of Pendleton, Rene'e (husband, Tony) Ritchie of Anderson, and Rick (wife, Karen) Hersberger of Anderson; seven grandchildren,Stacy (husband, Richie) Vincel, Erica McDole, Nicole Hersberger, Aaron Hersberger (fiance' Jasmine Collins), Kaylin Ritchie (fiance' Shannon Thompson), Eli Hersberger, and Audra Hersberger; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Deanna (Myers) Hersberger in 2002.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Jim Vaughn officiating. Burial will be at the Perkinsville Cemetery.

Margaret Maxine Hutton
October 25, 1912 - March 15, 2006
Margaret Hutton, 93, of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida went to her heavenly home on March 15, 2006. She was born in Lapel, Indiana, daughter of the late Edward Samuel Hutton and Ida Carola Dunham Hutton, and resided in Miami Shores, Florida from 1925 to 2002 prior to moving to Prosperity Oaks / Heartland in Palm Beach Gardens. Margaret graduated from North Miami High School and attended the University of Miami. She was employed by the Metropolitan Dade County Agricultural and Home Economics Division for 30 years before retiring in 1977. Margaret designed her Miami Shores home with a large yard for the dogs she loved and for growing roses. She made many trips to Europe and loved to travel. She was preceded in death by five siblings; Mary Audrey Troutman, Helen Louise Cooper, Anna Virginia Hutton, George Leland Hutton and Charles Gerald Hutton.
Margaret is survived by three nieces and a nephew: Sharon (Walter) Wiley, Palm Beach Gardens, Fl., Carol (Paul) Wyatt, Sandy Cooper, and Jay (Sharon) Cooper Gainesville, Florida, and numerous grand nieces and grand nephews.
Private family graveside services and burial will take place in the family plot at Brookside Cemetery, Lapel, Indiana.
