Fred F. Cummings, Jr.

[1939?] - November 23, 2001
Fred E. Cummings, Jr., 62, of Kokomo died Friday, November 23, 2001 in St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born in Chicago, Ill the son of Fred F. and Pearl (Moncel) Cummings, Sr. His marriage was to Mabel G. Wildoner in Roann, IN on June 28, 1987. She survives.

He graduated from Monon High School in 1958 and retired from Delco in Kokomo, June 1, 2001 after 35½ years.

He was a 25-year member of Eagles Lodge 323 in Logansport; Moose Lodge 232 Logansport and UAW 292, Kokomo. He enjoyed fishing and repairing things. Surviving besides his wife are his mother, Pearl Graves, Monon; a son Timothy (Pam) Cummings, Indianapolis; two daughters Pamela Cummings, Walton, IN and Tammy Rombold, Kokomo; two step-sons Mike Miller, Roann and Toni Miller, Dallas, TX.

Also surviving are two brothers, Dale Cummings, Linden, IN and Elbert Cummings, Elkhart, IN. He had 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services were Tuesday at Kellogg Funeral Home in Monon with burial in Bedford Cemetery.

John "Jack" Cooley

August 13, 1933 - November 1999
John "Jack" Cooley, 66, Lafayette, a former resident of Monon, died in November of 1999.

He was born August 13, 1933, to Clifford and Eulalia LaPlante Cooley, in Lafayette. His mother survives and lives in Monon. His father died March 25, 1984.

He had lived in Lafayette for 10 years, moving there from Bloomington.

He graduated in 1951, from Monon High School.

He worked as a salesman for Cargill Fertilizer, retiring in June, 1999, after 23 years of service.

He served in the U.S. Air Force in Korea

He was a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church of Lafayette.

He was a member of the American Legion, 40&8 of Lafayette.

Surviving with his mother are two sons, Christian of LaGrange, Ill, and Joel of Suwanee, Ga; two brothers, Edwin and Gary, both of Monon; two sisters, Joyce Sullivan, Lafayette and Colleen Horner, Monon; and a grandchild.

A daughter is deceased

Funeral services were Monday at the Kellogg Funeral Home, Monon, with the Rev. Rob Eyman officiating.

Burial was in Bedford Cemetery, Monon.

Memorials may be given to the Covenant Presbyterian Church, Lafayette.

Harold D. Connell

June 2, 1923 - December 12, 2000
Word has been received of the death of Harold D. Connell, 77, of Malvern, Ohio, a former White County resident, who died Dec. 12, 2000, at New Cumberland Nursing Home in Bowerston, Ohio.

He was born June 2, 1923, to Arthur Wesley and Ethel Lena Wilson Connell, in White County.

He attended the Buffalo School. He grew up in the Buffalo and Monticello communities.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was employed in construction.

He is survived by three sisters, Isabelle Lemaich of Knox, Ruth (Jack) Thompson of Chalmers and Grace Doremire of Lafayette; a brother, Oval Connell of Peru and several nieces and nephews.

A sister, Waneta Russow is deceased.

A graveside service was held Saturday, March 10 at 2 p.m. in Bedford Cemetery, Monon.

Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home, Carrollton, Ohio, was in charge of arrangements.

Helen A. (Miller) Clymer

May 16, 1920 - February 9, 2002
Helen A. (Miller) Clymer, 81, of Battle Ground died Saturday, February 9, 2002 at Home Hospital in Lafayette.

She was born at Battle Ground on May 16, 1920, the daughter of Ulna G. and Myrtle Wesner Miller. She married Phillip R. Clymer on November 26, 1939. He survives.

She had lived in the Battle Ground community most of her life. She graduated from Battle Ground High School in 1938.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Battle Ground United Methodist Church. She was active in the United Methodist Women. She sang in the choir and was a former Sunday School teacher.

She enjoyed music, reading, flower gardening and traveling.

She wintered for several years in Lakeland, FL.

Other survivors include a son, Larry (Donna) Clymer of Anderson; daughters Cherly (Jerry) Searcy, Huntington Beach, CA and Cynthia (Don) Brown of Battle Ground.

Funeral services were Tuesday at Hartzler Funeral Home with Rev. Tammy Mills officiating. Cremation followed the service and inurnment will be at a later date at the Battle Ground Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Battle Ground United Methodist Church or to the charity of choice.

Wayne B. Clemans

May 27, 1933 - November 1, 2001
Wayne B. Clemans, 68, of Buffalo, died Thursday, November 1, 2001 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette.

He was born in Adair, OkIa,, on May 27, 1933 to H. Howard and Sarah Wilma Caudle Clemans. He married Phyllis A. Snider in Buffalo on October 11, 1952. She survives. They were married in the same house where they have lived.

He lived in the Buffalo area most of his life.

He was a former deputy with the White County Sheriff's Department. He was also a machinist at NAPA in Monticello.

He was a member of the Buffalo Christian Church.

He enjoyed NASCAR racing and working on vehicles.

Other survivors include a daughter Deb (Mike) Cosgray of Idaville; a son Michael Clemans of Monticello; a brother Raymond H. (Bonnie) Clemans of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; a half brother, Sonny (Caralynn) Lemans of Kewanna; his stepmother Evelyn Clemans of Buffalo; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home after visitation on Sunday with Gregg Nydegger officiating.

Burial was in Buffalo Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Buffalo Christian Church.

R. Dean Carlson

October 10, 1935 - Dec. 15, 1998
R. Dean Carlson, 63, Monticello, died Tuesday, Dec. 15, at 6:30 p.m. in Lafayette Home Hospital. He had been in poor health for several years.

He was born October 10, 1935, to Richard R. and Vernise Spencer Carlson, in Monon. He graduated in 1953, from Monon High School. He had lived in White County all his life. He had farmed all of his life and had worked at RCA for 28 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Monticello Redmens, Eagles and Moose Lodges.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs Les (Pamela S.) Howard of Monticello; a son, Phillip D. of Francesville; his mother, of Monon; three sisters, Mrs Edmond (Rachel) Carr and Mrs Robert (Imogene) McLean, both of Clearwater, Florida and Mrs Fred (Lois) Newman of Lafayette; a brother, Duane of Monon and five grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday at 1:30 p.m. in Voorhis Draper Funeral Home, Monticello, with the Rev. Jeff Messer officiating Burial was in Bedford Cemetery, Monon.

Memorial donations may be given to the American Lung Association.

Mellie Lou Buschman

Oct. 9, 1929 to March 31, 1999
Mellie Lou Buschman, 68, a resident of Monticello Healthcare Center, died Wednesday, March 31, at the center. She had been ill for five years.

She was born Oct. 9, 1929, to Archie Dean and Ruth L. Ogborn Brown, in Monon. Her stepfather was Floyd J. Brown. She married Harold Buschman in Monon, on October 4, 1952 and he died August 9, 1996. She was a homemaker and had been a bookkeeper with Buschman Fertilizer of Reynolds for three years. She had lived in Monticello for 20 years, moving from Reynolds, where she had resided for 31 years. She was a member of Reynolds United Methodist Church. She was a former member of the Monticello Moose Lodge Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by two sons, Doug of Reynolds and Ed of Mesquite, Texas; a daughter, Joyce Anne Adamich of Duluth, Minn.; five brothers, John E. Brown St. of Rensselaer; Keith M. Brown of Bulingame, Calif.; Robert E. Brown of Walton, Jack G. Brown of Chicago Heights, Ill., and Dick Brown of Cape Coral, Florida; two sisters, Lorena Johnson and June Jones, both of Monon; six grandchildren and a great grandchild.

A memorial service was conducted at Reynolds United Methodist Church. Interment was in Bedford Cemetery, Monon. Kellogg Funeral Home, Monon, was in charge of arrangements.
