Donald D. Franscoviak
February 4, 1941 - November 27, 2001
Donald D. Franscoviak, 60, Monon, died Tuesday, Nov. 27 at White County Memorial Hospital.
He was born Feb. 4, 1941, to Joseph C. and Evelyn E. Norris Franscoviak, in Rensselaer.
He graduated from Francesville High School in 1959.
He was a pipe fitter for 39 years and worked at Hunter Corp. in East Chicago. He was also a farmer.
He was a member of the Brotherhood of Pipe Fitters Union 597 of East Chicago. He was also a 32 Degree Mason with Libanus Lodge 154.
Survivors include his parents, of Monon; sons Randy Franscoviak and Tony (Karen) Franscoviak, both of Monticello; a sister, Pat (Voyle) Ledyard of Ossian; a grandson, Cody Wood of Monon; and fiancee Connie Dalka of Reynolds.
A daughter, Kelly Wood is deceased.
Services were held Friday at the Kellogg Funeral Home, Monon, with Pastor Matthew Pickut officiating.
Burial was in Bedford Cemetery, Monon.
Memorials may be given to the American heart Association.
Evelyn L. Franscoviak
August 6,1916 - February 1, 2002
Evelyn L. Franscoviak, 85, of Monon, died Friday, February 1, 2002, at Twin Lakes Village in Monticello, where she had resided for four years.
She was born August 6, 1916, to Grover C. and Mazy Snow Norris. She married Joseph C. Franscoviak on November 23, 1938, in Rensselaer. He survives.
She was a life time Monon resident, attended the Monon United Methodist Church, and she was a homemaker.
Surviving with her husband are a daughter, Pat Ledyard of Ossian; brothers, Francis Norris of Monticello and Fred Norris of Ft. Myers, FL; a sister, Irene Downs of Indianapolis; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A son Donald D. Franskoviak and a granddaughter preceded her in death.
Funeral Services were at the Kellogg Funeral Home in Monon on Tuesday with Pastor Mathew Pickut officiating.
Burial was at Bedford Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
James J. Gasser
June 1, 1967 - December 11, 1992
James J. "Jim" Gasser, 25, R.1, Monticello, died Dec. 11, in the emergency room of Wishard hospital, Indianapolis, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Indianapolis.
He was born June 1, 1967, to the Rev. Ellis K. and Joanne Accola Gasser, in Fairmont, Minn., and they survive. His father is pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Delphi. He was married May 9, 1992, to Tina M. Johnson, in Delphi, and she also survives.
He graduated from Delphi Community High School in 1986 and from Purdue in 1989. He was a member of Chauncey Cooperative. When in high school, he was active in Carroll Co. 4-H, band, drama, Hi-Y Club and National Honor Society. In 1984, he was a delegate to Hoosier Boy's State.
After graduating from Purdue, he served as assistant manager at Pizza Hut at The Levee in West Lafayette, for two years. For the past three months, he was a Farm Bureau Insurance agent with White Co. Farm Bureau. For the last nine years he had worked summers at Indiana Beach, including the last four as a ride supervisor.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Delphi.
Surviving with his wife of R.l, Monticello, and his parents, R.3, Delphi, is a brother, John, a sophomore at Franklin College; a maternal grandmother, Mrs Jane Accola, Prairie duSac, Wis.; and his father-in-law and mother-in- law, Dallas and Patricia Johnson, R. 1, Monticello.
The funeral was Monday in the First Presbyterian Church, Delphi, with Rev James Rankin and Rev David Smook officiating.
The Horn Funeral Home, Delphi, was in charge of the service.
Burial was in Bedford Cemetery, Monon.
John Paul James
February 27, 1959 - January 3, 1995
John Paul James, 35, Rt. 1, Monon, died at 6:08 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, of injuries suffered in an automobile accident earlier in the morning.
He was born February 27, 1959 in Urbana, Illinois, the son of David Earl James of Bringhurst and Gladys Lucille Davis of Delphi. He was married on December 22, 1990 in Frankfort, Indiana, to Christi Michelle Simons who survives.
He was a member of the Victory Christian Center in Lafayette and had attended Ivy Tech in Lafayette. He was employed at Subaru-Isuzu in Lafayette and had lived in the Monon area since August 1994, coming from Delphi.
Surviving with his wife is his mother, father and stepmother, Agnes F. (Ward) James of Bringhurst. Three sons, Taj James, John Eric James and Justin Scaggs, all at home; and one sister, Katherine Marie James of Sebring, Florida.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Kellogg Funeral Home, Monon, with Pastor Tennyson Fitch officiating. Burial will be in Bedford Cemetery.
Friends may call at Kellogg Funeral Home from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Roger Hurst
September 22, 1900 - May 8, 1991
Roger Hurst, 90, of Brookston, died Monday, May 8th in Heritage Healthcare in West Lafayette. He had been ill and a patient at Heritage four days.
Born on Sept. 22, 1900, in Battle Ground, he lived most of his life in the Brookston area. He farmed in the Independence area for a while and was a carpenter most of his life.
Mr. Hurst was a 50-year member of Battle Ground Masonic Lodge 313.
Surviving is a brother, Gordon Hurst of Madisonville, KY, a sister-in-law, Crystal Hurst of Lafayette, 5 nieces and a nephew. Three brothers, one sister and one nephew preceded him in death.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. today in Battle Ground cemetery with Rev. Cleo Ewing officiating. Sollar-Baker Funeral Directors were in charge.
Mary Jane Klepinger
June 3, 1920 - October 17, 2000
Mary Jane Klepinger, 80, of West Lafayette, died Tuesday, October 17 in Regency Place, Lafayette.
She was born June 3, 1920, to William and Mande Sherell Klepinger, in Tippecanoe County.
She graduated from Battle Ground High School in 1938 and lived in the same house in which she was born.
She worked at ARP Food Service at ALCOA, retiring in 1963.
She liked to crochet.
She is survived by brother, James and Betty Klepinger, Sr. of West Lafayette; nephews, James Klepinger Jr. and Thomas and Kathy Klepinger of Lafayette and Richard and Catherine Shipley of Ben Wheeler, Texas; nieces, Beverly Potts, West Lafayette and Susan and Danny Crawford and Janet and Merle Dulin, Brookston and 10 great nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held for family and friends Thursday at the Battle Ground Cemetery
with Pastor Jan Dimick officiating. Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, was in charge of arrangements.
Ronald J. Kopka
March 7, 1957 - August 15, 2000
Ronald J. Kopka, 43, died Tuesday, August 15, at Pulaski Co. Memorial Hospital, Winamac.
He was born March 7, 1957, to Harry Albert and Patricia Joan Hess Kopka, in Monticello. He was married Nov. 18, 1978, to Cathy D. Disinger, in Francesville and she survives.
He was a lifetime resident of the Francesville area.
He was a former mechanic for 10 years with Disinger Truck Service, Francesville, and he was a farmer.
He was an avid collector of farm toys and was involved with stock car racing for several years at Shady Hill Raceway, Medaryville.
He is survived by his wife; son, Josh Kopka, at home; daughter, Amanda Kopka, at home; his mother of Francesville; twin brother, Don Kopka, Monon; and half-brothers, Butch Ramsey, Monon and Kenny Ramsey, of Anderson.
A daughter is deceased.
Funeral services were Friday at Kellogg Funeral Home, Monon, with Pastor Ed Clark officiating.
Burial was in Bedford Cemetery, Monon.
Memorials may be given to the Francesville Volunteer Fire Department or Francesville Volunteer EMTs.
