Art Richardson
February 15, 1930 - September 23, 1988
Art Richardson, 58, owner of The Corner Bait Shop in Battle Ground, died at 2:38 a.m. Friday - Sept. 23, in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, where he was admitted Thursday.
He was born Feb. 15, 1930 in Battle Ground.
He married E. Sue Wall, Aug. 3, 1950 in Lafayette. She died June. 28, 1986.
Mr Richardson lived at 1604 E. County Road 725 N., West Lafayette, and was a member of Eagles Lodge 374, VFW of Monticello and Indiana Outboard Association.
Surviving are a son, Ralph Steven Richardson, Flora; three daughters, Linda Marie Ruhlander, R.1, Battle Ground; Beverly Ann Rush, R.5, Monticello and Lisa May Richardson, Lafayette; and his mother, Mrs. Velora Marie Bell, Lafayette.
Also surviving are five grand children.
Service was at Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston, at 2 p.m. Saturday, with Gordon Benton officiating. Interment was in Battle Ground Cemetery.
Robert V. "Bob" Richey
October 2, 1948 - March 22, 2001
Robert V. "Bob" Richey, 52, Buffalo, died Thursday, March 22, 2001, in Cape Coral, Florida.
He was born in Lafayette on October 2, 1948, to William Verne and Mable L. Coonfield Richey.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Vietnam.
He had lived in the Buffalo community all his life and owned and operated Buffalo Park Discount in Buffalo for the 1ast 30 years.
He was affiliated with the Zion Bethel Church.
He was a member of VFW Post 2231 and AMVETS Post 91, both of Monticello.
He is survived by his mother, Mable L. Richey, of Buffalo; a sister, Nancy (Joe) Pala of Buffalo, brother Mike (Jackie) Richey of Mesa, Ariz.; sons Justin Richey of Cape Coral, Fla., and Douglas Richey of Colorado Springs, Colo.
Funeral services were Monday at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home with Re. Jeff Messer officiating.
Burial was in Buffalo Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the wishes of the donor.
Cathryn M. Rosenbaum
July 13, 1917 - January 20, 2002
Cathryn M. Rosenbaum, 84, of Cape Coral, Florida and formerly of Monon, Indiana, died Sunday, January 20, 2002 in Cape Coral Hospital from injuries received in an auto accident on Friday, January 18th.
She was born July 13, 1917 in Chicago, the daughter of Peter and Julia Lanham Wabol.
She was a self-employed accountant for more than 40 years in Indiana. She had been bookkeeper for The Monon News for over 26 years, retiring in 2001.
She had been a case manager for Wabash Valley Mental Health, retiring in 1999 after 15 years.
She also played violin with the Country Termites Band in Monticello.
She was a member of the Caloosahatchee Moose Lodge, Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW, Lee County Fiddlers Support Group, Heart of Cape Coral and St. Andrews Catholic Church.
Surviving are two daughters. Roberta (Ralph) Memergert of Portage, Indiana and Margo Gladney of Cape Coral, three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and one sister, Julia Boldt of Wanatah. Also surviving are two dear friends Linda Hancock and Wilson Pollard, both of Cape Coral.
There was a private cremation.
A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, January 26 at the Caloosahatchee Moose Lodge in Cape Coral.
Friends may call at the Mohler Funeral Home in Wanatah on Friday, February 1 from 5 - 8 p.m.
There will be a memorial service at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wanatah at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday and a graveside service at approximately 1:30 p.m. at Bedford Cemetery
at Monon.
Arnold C. Scholz
October 15, 1904 - June 15, 1993
Arnold C. Scholz, 88, R.1, Monon, died Tuesday, June 15, in Monticello Healthcare Center. He had been ill for the last two months.
He was born Oct. 15, 1904, to Charles F. and Anna Jacobsen Schulz, in Lake Forest, Ill. He was married Dec. 1, 1935, to Thelma Parr, in Hammond, and she lived at R.1, Monon.
He graduated from Lake Forest High School, Illinois.
He was an employee of the city of Lake Forest and retired after 22 years. He moved from Lake Forest to Monon, in 1960.
He was affiliated with the Lake Forest Presbyterian Church.
Surviving with his wife is a stepson, Wilford J. Rieger, Battle Ground and a brother, Albert J., Orlando, Florida. Two brothers and two sisters are deceased.
Graveside rites will be conducted today at 2 p.m. in Bedford Cemetery, Monon.
Kellogg Funeral Home, Monon, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Salvation Army.
Wayne Schultz
February 8, 1934 - July 29, 2001
Wayne Schultz, 67, of Monticello, died Sunday, July 29, 2001, at his residence.
He was born in Jasper County on February 8, 1934, to Floyd and Alma Criswell Schultz.
He lived in Jasper County most of his life and in Monticello for about 15 years.
He attended Fair Oaks High School in Jasper County.
He was a retired farmer.
A sister, Mrs. Donna (Joseph) Venturella of Portage; three nieces and two nephews survive him.
Two sisters, Adalyn Florence and Evelyn K. Putts, are deceased.
The funeral was today at Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, with Rev. Chris Dodson officiating.
Burial was at Bedford Cemetery, Monon.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Gladys F. Sharkey
April 27, 1915 - December 13, 2000
Gladys F. Sharkey, 85, of Merrillville, a former Monon resident, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, at Lincolnshire Health Care Center, Merrillville.
She was born April 27, 1915, to Ellis and Mary Bivens Beamer, in Luke, Md. She was married in 1941, to Roger Sharkey in Wolcott, and he died in 1963.
She was a homemaker and lived most of her life in Monon and Speedway.
She is survived by a son, Allan Shakey, Chicago; and friend, Gloria Taylor, Chicago.
A sister and brother are deceased.
Funeral service was Saturday at Kellogg Funeral Home, Monon, with Rev. Steve Birch officiating.
Burial was in Bedford Cemetery, Monon.
Mary K. Snouwaert
November 7, 1920 - February 22, 2001
Mary K. Snouwaert, 80, of Monon died February 22, 2001 at Monticello Assisted Living And Healthcare Center, Monticello.
She was born in Goodland on November 7, 1920 to Glen E. and Mildred C. Sigler Boothby. She married Emerson Snouwaert at Crown Point on September 7, 1937. He died January 8, 1995.
She had lived in the Monon community most of her life and she was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Monon First Baptist Church.
She had been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Logansport for 46 years.
She is survived by a daughter Rheta Sue Hutcheson of Battle Ground; five grandchildren, Janet (Al) Pirlot of Rensselaer, Rose Hall of Wolcott, Donnie (Sue) Hall of Chalmers; Cole Hutcheson of Battle Ground and Macey (Tony) Johnson of Colfax, and six great-grandchildren.
A brother and sister are deceased.
Services were at Kellogg Funeral Home in Monon on Saturday, February 24, 2001 with Rev. Steve Birch officiating.
Burial will be in Bedford Cemetery
at a later date.
