Rosalee Allton
September 27, 1924 to July 19, 2000
Mrs. Rosalee (Fields) Allton, of Indianapolis, Indiana, died Wednesday, July 19, 2000 at 12:25 a.m. Mrs. Allton, formerly of Laporte and Griffith, Indiana, was the widow of Harold Edwin Allton, who preceded her in death in 1957. Mrs. Allton was a longtime member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Laporte, and had retired from Northern Indiana Public Service Company in 1990 as a supervisor.
Mrs. Allton is survived by her two sons, Michael W. of Monon. Indiana, and Kevin I. of Indianapolis, Indiana, and three daughters, Karen I. Allton of Michigan City, Indiana, Carol-Anne Hale of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Mary-Louise Ehlert of San Jose, California. She is also survived by her sister Anna Katherine Durant of Sacramento, California.
The funeral was held Saturday; July 22, 2000, at Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton Chapel in Indianapolis. Graveside services and burial were held Monday, July 24, 2000, at Pine Lake Cemetery
in Laporte, Indiana, where she was interned next to her late husband.

She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
Eugenia 'Jeanie' Altman
Oct. 17, 1934 to Jan. 17, 2000
Eugenia "Jeanie" Altman, 65 of Logansport, died Monday, Jan. 17, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.
She was born Oct. 17, 1934, to Francis and Inez Marchand Moncel, in Jasper County. She was married Oct. 18, 1952, to John D. Altman and he died Feb. 14, 1991.
She graduated from Moni\on high School in 1952. She was a homemaker and collected owl figurines.
She is survived by her mother, Inez Moncel of Lafayette; sons, John F. (and Patti) Altman and Robert Altman, all of Logansport; a sister, Joan Spencer, Lafayette; three brothers, Alvin, Gail and Gene Moncel, all of Indianapolis; two grandchildren, John P. Altman and Joshua Altman, both of Logansport; a great grandson, John M. Altman, Logansport; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Thursday at Marocco Funeral Chapel, Logansport with the Rev. Bruce Almy officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Reynolds.
Lawrence Altman
Aug. 30, 1919 to April 13, 2000
Lawrence Airman, 80, died Thursday, April 13, 2000, at his Chalmers home.
He was born Aug. 30, 1919 in Reynolds to Joseph and Edith Godenrath Altman. He married Opal Irene Wann in Reynolds on Oct. 29, 1949. She died Feb. 5, 1996.
He was a 1938 graduate of Reynolds High School.
He served in World War II with the U.S. Army from March 1942 to November 1945. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and received five battle stars from the European Theater. He was a TEC 4 with Company C, 638th Tank Destroyer Battalion.
He had farmed since 1954.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Reynolds, and was also a member of the Holy Name Society and Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Farm Bureau Co-op and Chalmers American Legion Post 268.
He is survived by sons, Mark (Sandy) Altman of Marshall, Minn., and Donald Altman of Chalmers; daughter, Anne (Richard) Bales of Lafayette, brother, Paul Altman of North Judson; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Two brothers and a sister are deceased.
A funeral mass was celebrated Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Reynolds, with the Rev. Richard Miller officiating. Hartzler Funeral Home was in charge.
Burial with military graveside rites by Chalmers American Legion Post 268 was at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Reynolds.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Opal Wann Altman Scholarship Fund.
Edna L. Anderson
Oct. 2, 1911 to April 22, 1995
Edna L. Anderson, 83, R.1, Francesville, died Saturday at Rensselaer Care Center.
She was born Oct. 2, 1911, to Julian and Dora Hintzman Lemon, in West Lafayette. Her first marriage was to Paul Barnes, who died in 1957. Her second marriage was Nov. 28, 1962, to Albert Anderson who died in 1973.
She was a homemaker and lived most of her life in Francesville. She attended the Lutheran Church, Francesville.
Surviving are a daughter, Shirley Whitehead of Tennyson; a son, Alvin Barnes; a sister, Dorothy Ruemler, Brookston; a brother, Robert Lemon, Reynolds; and three grandchildren. A sister and brother are deceased.
The funeral was Tuesday at Querry-Ulbricht Funeral Home, Francesville with Rev. Steven Koening officiating. Burial was in Bedford Cemetery, Monon.
Janice S. 'Jan' Anderson
October 6, 1939 - April 19, 2002
Janice S. 'Jan' Anderson, 62, of Buffalo community died Friday, April 19, 2002 at her residence.
She was born at Monticello on October 6, 1939, to Wayne A. and Edith F. Dahl Fry. She married Don F. Anderson at Burnettsville on November 3, 1957. He survives.
She had lived in White County all of her life.
She was a 1957 graduate of Monticello High School.
She and her husband Don owned and operated Liberty Signs in the Buffalo area.
She loved fishing, woodworking, working with crafts and, at one time, refinishing furniture.
Other survivors include sons, Mike (Patsy) Anderson and Donnie (Georgie) Anderson, both of Buffalo; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and a step great-grandson.
Funeral services were Monday at the Miller-Roscka Funeral Home, Monticello with Pastor Mark Foreman and Gregg Nydegger officiating.
Burial was in Little Creek Cemetery
in rural Pulaski County.
Memorials may be made to the Buffalo Fire Department or the church of the donor's choice.
Florence E. Austin
August 28, 1914 - May 21, 2001
Florence E. Harris Austin, 86, Lafayette, former Chalmers resident died Monday, May 21, at 4:30 p.m. in Walnut Creek Nursing Home, Lafayette.
She was born Aug. 28, 1914, to James and Nettie Mae Bryner Harris, in Payne, Ohio. She was married March 24, 1934, to Delmar Leonal Austin, in Plymouth. He died April 17, 1966.
She lived in Chalmers. moved to Otterbein in 1987, and then to the nursing home in 1993.
She worked at Bryan Manufacturing in Monticello for 33 years and retired in 1974.
She is survived by two sons, James (Jackie) Austin of Otterbein and Neil (Donna) Austin, Chalmers; a daughter, Marlene (Brayton) Bauer, Oxford; a brother, James Harris, Logansport; a sister, Laura Danner, Chalmers; 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
A son, Glenn Austin; a brother, Delbert Harris; two sisters, Nora Spear and Myrtle Barren; a grandson; and a great grandson are deceased.
Private graveside services were Thursday at Chalmers Community Cemetery
with Pastor Don Haley officiating.
Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.
Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston was in charge of arrangements.
Dennis H. Bailey
April 1, 1942 - May 2, 2002
Dennis H. Bailey, 60, Monon, died Wednesday, May 2, at 2:50 a.m. at his residence.
He was born April 1, 1942, to Herald and Anna Hughes Bailey, in Monon. He was married Sept. 23, 1962, to Barbara A. Wescoat in Monticello. She survives.
He graduated from Monon High School, in 1960.
He was a maintenance supervisor at Alcoa for 31 years.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Monon.
He was active with White County 4-H and coached Little League baseball for several years. He was an avid golfer.
Other survivors include daughters, Holly L. (Lawrence) Hoover of Star City and Crystal A. (Tony) Grandstaff of Burnettsville; brothers, Larry Bailey of Kentucky and Todd Bailey of Florida and three grandchildren.
A son, Daniel Bailey and a brother are deceased.
Services were Friday at the Querry-Ulbricht Funeral home, Francesville, with Pastor Matthew Pickut officiating.
Burial was in Roseland Cemetery, Francesville.
Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Fund.
Burdell W. Baker
March 17, 1901 to Jan. 31, 1989
Burdell Wolverton Baker, 87, Chalmers, died Tuesday, Jan. 31 at 3:10 p.m. in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, Lafayette. He had been hospitalized since Dec . 10 and in failing health two years.
Mr. Baker retired from farming and moved to Chalmers from the farm in August 1965.
Born March 17, 1901 in Monticello, he graduated from Monticello High School in 1919 and Indiana University in 1923.
Mr. Baker was a member of Monticello Presbyterian Church and Columbia Club in Indianapolis and was a supporter of the Democrat party. A member Phi Kappa Psi fraternity for more than 50 years, he was a board member emeritus of the fraternity.
There are no immediate survivors.
Service was 10 a.m. Friday, with the Rev William C. Weckerly officiating at the Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston. Interment was in Monticello Cemetery.
