Kyle Baker Martin Bartley

Infant Kyle Baker Martin Bartley, 20 days, died Thursday, May 7, at 2:13 a.m. in the Neonatal Unit at Home Hospital, Lafayette.
He was born April 18, in Home Hospital to Shelby and Bethann Taylor, Brookston, who survive. Also surviving are grandparents, George and Mary Bartley, Brookston and Donald and Eva Taylor Love, Otterbein; great grandparents, James and Therese Mullen, Battle Ground, Mrs. Rilla Bartley, Anderson and Juanita Warner, Lafayette.
The graveside service was conducted Friday, May 8 at 11 a.m. in Bowers Cemetery
near Colfax, with the Rev. Lewis Ruman officiating. Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, was in charge of arrangements.
Maude E. Beasy
Jan. 6, 1888 to Sept. 10, 1987
Maude E. Beasy, 101, formerly of Chalmers, died at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 10, at Wesley Manor Retirement Center, Frankfort, where she had lived for 21 years.
She was born Jan. 6, 1886, in Chalmers, to John and Marsella Ward Beasy. She was a member of the Chalmers Community Church, the Rebecca Lodge and the American Legion Auxiliary, all in Chalmers. She was a graduate of Marion Normal College in 1906 and a graduate of Indiana University in 1917. She was a retired school teacher who taught in White County and other counties in central Indiana.
Surviving is Dr William A. Downs, Warrensburg, Mo., whom she helped raise. Also surviving are 21 nieces and nephews. Four brothers and two sisters are deceased.
The funeral was Sunday at Miller-Voorhis Funeral Home. Burial was in Chalmers Cemetery.
Regina Begley
October 29, 1925 to Nov. 17, 1992
Regina Begley, 67, Prairie Manor Apartments, Wolcott, died Tuesday in St. Elizabeth Hospital. She had been in poor health for three years and seriously ill for the last six months.
She was born in New Haven Conn., on October 29, 1925, to Arvid and Anna Tucker Lillquist. Her marriage was to John Begley, on July 17, 1948. He survives. She was a 1943 graduate of Branford High School in Connecticut. She and her husband moved to Wolcott in 1964. She operated and worked in various restaurants in Wolcott for several years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Reynolds.
Surviving are three sons: William of Brookston, Joseph of South Whitley and John of Battle Ground; one brother, Robert Lillquist of Branford, Conn., and four grandchildren. One daughter is deceased.
The funeral was at 10:00 a.m. today in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Reynolds with Rev. Rick Miller officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Reynolds. Foster Funeral Home, Wolcott was in charge of the services.
Everet M. Bess
Nov. 17, 1894 to [1986]
Everet M. Bess, 92, of Marble Hill, Missouri and formerly of Monon, died at St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Tuesday.
Born Nov. 17, 1894 in Lutesville, Missouri, he was the son of John and Ida Shell Bess. He married Lou Fewell, Dec. 20, 1917. She died Jan. 14, 1974. His second marriage was to Vera Payne, in 1976. She died in 1980. On Sept. 20, 1980, he married Lettie Van Meter, who survives.
A member of the Hahn Chapel Baptist Church in Marble Hill, he is survived by a daughter, Rosemary Freeman, Pennbroke, Virginia and two sons, Richard Bess of Battle Ground and Bloice Bess of Matoon, Illinois. Other survivors include two brothers, Ernest Bess of Fairbury, Ill, and Milford Bess of. Decatur, Ill. and one sister, Edna Frohreich of Logansport. He had 9 grand children, 12 great grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at the Stewart Funeral Home in Monon, at 10 a.m. Saturday, with burial in Bedford Cemetery. Friends may call at the Stewart Funeral Home after 6:00 p.m., Friday.
Pearl Mae Bice
Jan. 23, 1895 to Dec. 3, 1990
Pearl Mae Bice, 95, formerly of Chalmers, died Monday, Dec. 3, at 11:50 am. in White Co. Memorial Hospital, Monticello. She had lived with her daughter at 713 S. Bluff St., Monticello, for the last two years.
She was born Jan. 23, 1895, to Sherman and Catherine Wilson Lafoon, in Iroquois, Ill. She was married Oct. 1913, to Leonard Bice, who died in 1973. She had lived in Chalmers since 1937, before moving to her daughters home in Monticello. She was a former member of Big Creek Home Ec Club and Chalmers Afternoon Circle. She was a member of Chalmers Community Church.
Survivors include three daughters; Neva Adams and Marjorie Osterberg, both of Wheatfield and Juanita Fishel, Monticello; three sons, Marion, Earl Park; Harold, Lafayette and Kenny, Pennville; a brother, Marvin Lafoon, Richardson, Calif.; 35 grandchildren; 78 great grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren. A son, three daughters, three sisters and four brothers are deceased.
The funeral was today at 1 p.m. in Chalmers Community Church with the Rev Loren Shuman officiating. Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston was in charge of the service. Burial was in Chalmers Cemetery.
Alta G. Bir
January 15, 1903 - September 16, 2001
Alta G. Bir, 98, formerly of Brookston died Sunday, September 16, 2001, at Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare Center.
She was born on January 15, 1903, in Brookston, to Oscar and Ella Ramey Harmon. She married Clarence Adrian Bir in White County on January 25, 1921. He died April 26, 1961.
She lived in White County most of her life and in Crawfordsville for 15 years.
She worked in the Reynolds School Corp. as a cook for several years.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Reynolds, where she was a member of the Rosary and Sodality.
She was a member of Honey Creek Home Ec. Club for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Moose and Eagles Auxiliaries, both in Monticello.
She was a member of the Twin Lakes Senior Citizens Club.
Surviving are two daughters, Dorothy Houston and Ruth Buschman, both of Monticello; 33 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
One son, one daughter, one brother and a sister are deceased.
Funeral services were Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Robert L. Sell Msgr. officiating.
Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home was in charge of the service.
Burial was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery
in Reynolds.

Kenneth W. Bisher
Feb. 18, 1931 to Dec. 23, 1992
Kenneth W. "Kenny" Bisher, 61, Battle Ground, died Dec. 23, at the St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette emergency room. He had been in failing health for 4 1/2 years.
He was born Feb. 18, 1931, to Floyd and Elma Bisher, in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. He was married Oct. 16, 1964, to Patricia Grahm in Racine, Wisconsin, and she survives. For the last 33 years, he lived in Battle Ground. He graduated from Melrose High School in 1960 and was an Army veteran of the
Korean War. He worked for 35 years for the Prairie Telephone Co. and Century Telephone. He was a former fireman for the Battle Ground Volunteer Fire Department. He was member of the Independent Order of Foresters and American Legion Post No. 492 in West Lafayette. He was a wood-worker and model railroader.
Other survivors are two daughters, Jane of Battle Ground and Kendra Grace of Earl Park; four sons;. Hobb of Buck Creek, John of Shadeland and David and Mike, both of Battle Ground; a brother Richard of Miami, FL.; a sister, Mrs. Delores Castoreale of Racine, Wisconsin, and 10 grandchildren. A brother is deceased.
The funeral was Monday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with Pastor Judy Becker, officiating. Entombment was in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, Mausoleum, West Lafayette.

Virginia Bittle

Virginia H. "Ginny" Cunningham Bittle, 72, of Indianapolis, died Saturday, March 13, at Community East in Indianapolis. She was employed at Sam's Wholesale Club as a food demonstrator for the past 3 years. She formerly worked as business manager for Green Ridge Farm in Brookston for 15 years. She was married to James W. Bittle. He died in 1972. She was a member of the Brookston Federated Church, Past President of Warren Township PTA, was the former Mrs. Indianapolis of 1965, and she did volunteer work for various organizations.
She is survived by three daughters: Penny Mitchell, Indianapolis, Ginny Bruner, Attica, and Brenda Flint of Indianapolis; one son, Michael Bittle, Dallas, TX, a sister, Ann Bongen, Lafayette, and three brothers, Bud, Jack and Bill Cunningham. She had 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Tuesday at Shirely Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, Indianapolis, with burial in Washington Park East Cemetery.
William 0. Blackman
March 29, 1921 to November 15, 2000
William 0. Blackman, 79, Monticello died Wednesday, November 15, 2000 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette.
He was born in White County on March 29, 1921, to Otis Grant and Zenaclea Harritt Blackman. He married Beulah Maxine Dyer in Brookston on March 30, 1957. She survives. He was employed by Pennsylvania Railroad and Penn Central. He retired from Conrail Railroad in 1979. He moved from Brookston to Monticello in 1989. He is survived by his wife; brothers, Howard (Wilma) Blackman of Headlee, Harry Blackman of Burnettsville, Bon (Mary) Blackman of Gainesville, FL., and Burl Blackman of Logansport and sister Mabel (Bill) Hilgeman of Peru.
Funeral services were Saturday at Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston with Pastor Jan Dimick officiating. Burial was at IOOF Cemetery, Brookston.
Robert P. Bleicher
October 6, 1928 - April 13, 2002
Robert Paul Bleicher, 73, of Monticello died Saturday, April 13, 2002 at his residence.
He was born October 6, 1928, in Chicago, to Bruno F. and Bertha A. Schieman Bleicher. He married Gretchen Nicholson on July 6, 1952, in Ripley. She survives.
He was a CWO4 officer in the U.S. Army and retired in 1978 after 30 years of service. While assigned as an Air Defense Artillery Specialist, he was never one to turn down an extra duty assignment. During Vietnam, he counseled numerous families who lost sons during the war.
He served as White County Emergency Management Director from August 1984, until retiring in January 1999.
Although retired, he remained an active volunteer within the community with the Lions Club, Literacy Volunteers and Red Cross. He was the first member initiated into the Monticello Lions Club October 1985. He served president, treasurer, newsletter editor and finance chairman and parliamentarian. He received the W.P. Woods award for outstanding service in Lionism.
He also enjoyed photography, bird watching, chess, checkers, computers and music.
Surviving with his wife are sons Tim (Jennifer) Bleicher of Palmer, Alaska and George Bleicher of Cherryville, Kansas; sister, Gertrude Short of Winamac and six grandchildren.
Five brothers and two sisters are deceased.
Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. today at Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial, with military rites will be at Winamac Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Monticello Area Lions Club.
