James T. Blume Sr.

Aug. 4. 1921 to May 28, 1999
James T. Blume, Sr., 77, of Rt. 1, Monticello, died Friday, May 28, at Saint Anthony's Healthcare in Lafayette.

He was born Aug. 4. 1921, to James and Katherine Becunas Blume, in Wilkes Barre, Pa. He was married July 18, 1945, to Helen A. Miller in Wilkes Barre, and she survives. He graduated in 1939 from James Caughlin High School in Wilkes Barre. He attended Pennsylvania State University for two years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific, receiving a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He moved to the Monon area from Lafayette in 1971. He was a retired supervisor from Eli Lilly. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, Monticello, and the Holy Name Society. He was a member of the Monticello American Legion.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, James T. Blume Jr, Lafayette and Terrance Blume Sr.. West Lafayette a brother, William Blume of Fayetteville, N.Y.; two sisters. Mrs. Joseph Ostrowski of Wilkes Barre, Pa. and Mrs. Nicholas Nicolas of Newburgh, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A brother is deceased.

Private funeral services were Monday at Kellogg Funeral Home, Monon, with the Rev. James Goodrum officiating. Burial was in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.

Memorials may be given to the Saint Anthony's Health Care.

Fredrick H. Boessel, Jr.

December 25, 1918 - March 16, 2002
Fredrick Harrison Boessel, Jr. 83, of Monon died Saturday, March 16, 2002, at Home Hospital, Lafayette.

He was born on December 25, 1981 [i.e., 1918], in Dubuque, Iowa, to Frederick H. and Ruby Wilkins Boessel Sr.; He married Shirley Mae Kohn in Monticello on Sept. 12, 1964. She survives.

He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in Algeria, Morocco and Central Europe.

He moved to Monon from Hobart in 1968.

He was a carpenter for 60 years. He owned and operated Boessel Construction in Hobart for several years.

He was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Saviour in Monticello.

He was a member of the Monon VFW.

Surviving with his wife are a son, Frederick H. Boessel, III of Sarasota, Fla., seven daughters, Gail Taporski of Milwaukee, Wisc. Carole Hilton of Bokeelia, Fla., Terry Robinson of Francesville, Franci Michael and Jacque Minicus, both of Monon, Kelly Balvich of Columbia, S.C. and Candice Feller of Cape Coral, Fla.; two brothers, Ray Boessel of Wirt, Minn. and Clifford Boessel of Kissimmee, Fla.; 18 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

One son, three sisters, one brother and a grandson are deceased.

Funeral services were Tuesday at the Lutheran Church of Our Saviour in Monticello with Pastor William Parsons officiating.

Burial with full military rites was at Bedford Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.

Leonard M. Bol

May 5, 1914 to May 29, 1995
Leonard M. Bol, 81, Rt. 1, Brookston, died Monday, May 29, at home.

He was born May 5, 1914 to John and Lena Cooper Bol in Lafayette. He married Anna B. Torrenga on Dec. 25, 1937 in Lafayette and she died May 3, 1993. He had lived in Brookston since 1967, moving from Rossville. He was a farmer. He was a member of the Lafayette Christian Reformed Church.

Surviving are two sons, Richard of Chalmers, and Arnold of Rossville; two daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Virginia) Dailey of Lafayette, and Mrs. Dallas (Charlotte) Paugh of Brookston; a brother, Arthur J. Bol of Dayton; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A brother, Henry Bol, and a granddaughter, Melinda Bol, are deceased.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 3, at Hippensteel Chapel, Lafayette. Burial was in Rest Haven Memorial Park.

Memorials can be made to the Lafayette Christian School.

W. Howard Boomershine

Nov. 12, 1908 to May 4, 1993
W. Howard Boomershine, 84, R.1, Waveland, died Tues., May 4 in Culver Hospital, Crawfordsville. He had been in failing health for the last few months.

He was born Nov. 12, 1908, to Alonzo D. and Chloe Myrtle Longfellow Boomershine, in West Lafayette. He was married April 30, 1938, to Marjorie McCutchan, in Mulligan, and she survives. He graduated from Brookston High School, Danville Normal College and Purdue. He was a Navy veteran and served as a lieutenant. Since 1974, he had lived in Greene Township of Parke County. He was a public and private teacher and school administrator. Also, he served as a trustee of Tri State College in Angola. He was a member of the Brookston Federated Church and Northern Indiana Superintendent's Club.

Surviving with his wife is a son, David Howard of Vincennes; and a daughter, Jane Aria Parks, Dan ville; a brother, Charles, Arizona; and four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A sister is deceased.

A private family service is planned, following cremation.

Memorial contributions may be given to charity through Machledt & Servies Funeral Home, Waveland.

Barbara J. Boothby

June 22, 1927 to Nov. 21, 1999
Barbara J. Boothby, 72, Monticello, died Sunday, Nov. 21, at Regency Place Nursing Home, Lafayette.

She was born June 22, 1927, to William A. and Helen Marie Tucker Bielfeldt, in Harvey, Ill. She was a graduate of Thornton High School, Thornton, Ill. She moved in 1960 from Monon to Monticello. She had worked in the White County Assessors Office as an executive secretary for the selective service board. She worked for the State Highway Department for 10 years and then retired. She was a member of the Crystal Chapter of Eastern Star and American Legion Auxiliary, Monticello.

She is survived by sons, Bill L. Templeton, Lafayette and Eric G. Boothby, Muncie and six grandchildren. A son, Robert J. Templeton and a brother,William R. Bielfeldt are deceased.

A private graveside service was held at Homewood Memorial Gardens in Homewood, Illinois. Miller-Roscka Funeral Home, Monticello, was in charge.

Martha Jo Bossung

June 30, 1938 to Jan. 20, 1990
Martha J. Bossung, Chalmers, died Saturday, Jan. 20, in Home Hospital, Lafayette. She had been seriously ill for three years. She was born June 30, 1938 to Rhinehart F. and Elizabeth E. Souligne Bossung, in Lafayette. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Reynolds and lived in the Chalmers community all of her life.

Surviving are her mother, Chalmers; a brother, Charles R. "Chuck", Chalmers; and a niece and nephew.

The funeral was Tuesday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Reynolds, at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Robert Fosselman officiating. Miller-Voorhis Funeral Home, Monticello, was in charge. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Reynolds.

Margarita Bowen

Feb. 22, 1950 to Sept. 18, 1992
Margarita Bowen, 42, Rt.2, Brookston, died Friday, Sept. 18, in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, following a traffic accident.

She was born Feb. 22, 1950, to Dolores and Jesus Meljar Menjivar, in Puerto Cordes, Honduras. She was married March 25, 1971,to Robert T. Bowen, in Delphi, and he survives. She was a naturalized U.S. citizen who came to the United States shortly before she was married in 1972. She was educated in Honduras. She was an assistant manager of the Payless Shoe Store at the Lafayette Tippecanoe Mall for the last three years. She was a member of the Creasy Lane Baptist Church, Lafayette.

Surviving with her husband are her mother, who lives in Honduras, one daughter, Jessica M. a student at Indiana University, Bloomington and several brothers and sisters all of Honduras.

The funeral was Wednesday in Horn Funeral Home, Delphi, Pastor Harry Hargis officiating. Burial was in Masonic Cemetery at Delphi.

Richard S. "Dick" Bowman

May 30, 1932 to January 4, 1999
Richard S. "Dick" Bowman, 66, of West Lafayette, formerly of Remington, died Monday, January 4, 1999 in St. Elizabeth Hospital.

He was born in Morocco, IN to Lucy Mae and Richard Bowman, Sr., on May 30, 1932. He had lived most of his life in Remington, IN. He married Beverly Tyler on December 27, 1953 in Remington. She survives along with two sons, Dan Bowman of Remington and David Bowman of Indianapolis, and one daughter, Bonnie Bowman of San Ramon, California. Six sisters also survive, Julie Burrell of West Lafayette, Arville Brunton of Wolcott, Mary Ellen England and Lucy Mae Anderson both of Scottsdale, AZ, Rachael Bowman of Mesa, AZ and Helen Sheehan of Phoenix, AZ. He had two grandchildren. Six sisters preceded him in death.

He was a graduate of Remington, High School, St. Joseph College in Rensselaer, Valparaiso University and attended Christian Theological Seminary and Garrett Theological Seminary. He taught school at Chalmers, Remington and Tri-County High School where he coached many sports. He held a V.S.A. Track and Field License and worked college meets. He worked with the Indiana Quarter Horse Association and Indiana Horse Council where he was on the Education Committee. He served as Pastor of the Buffalo Church of the Brethren at Buffalo, IN. He also had served as Temporary Pastor for many area churches over the years. He served in Austria during World War II, from 1953-1955.

Funeral services were held on Friday at the Remington United Methodist Church with Rev. Barbara Lloyd officiating. Interment was in Remington Cemetery. Stitz Funeral Home was in charge of the service.

Memorials may be made to the Buffalo Church of the Brethren in care of Jack Hughes, P.O. Box 98, Monon, IN 47959.

Laura H. Bramblette

September 7, 1913 to January 5, 2001
Laura H. Bramblette, 87, Monon, died Friday, January 5, 2001 at Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare following a five-year illness.

She was born on September 7, 1913, in Monon to Clyde and Ethel Kellenburger Hughes. She married Millard DeLong on April 29, 1932, in Indiana. He is deceased. Her second marriage was to Roy Bramblette on December 5, 1944 in Lafayette. He is deceased. She was a legal secretary for 10 years for the Hopkins & Hopkins law firm in Rensselaer and was a court reporter at the White County Courthouse from 1976-1985. She returned to Monon in 1967 after living in Chicago. She was a member of the Monon United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Sheila (Jim) Siebert of Watseka, IL; two grandsons, Mark Siebert of North Miami, Fl and David (Carol) Siebert of Bluffton, IN; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Tuesday at Kellogg Funeral Home with Pastor Matthew Pickut officiating. Burial was at Bedford Cemetery.

Memonals may be made to the American Diabetes. Foundation or the Monon EMTs.

Alice Marie Brashear

March 16, 1923 to March 5, 2000
Alice Marie Hutson Brashear, 76, of Enid, OK, a former Brookston resident, died Sunday, March 5, 2000. She had been ill for several months.

She was born on March 16, 1923 in Brookston to Earl M. and Catherine C. Utley Hutson. She married Richard Brashear on September 17, 1953. He survives. She was a 1941 graduate of Brookston High School.

Surviving with her husband are one brother, Clifford "Ed" Hutson of Brookston, and a sister, Allean Yount of Hernando, FL. Three brothers are deceased.

Funeral services were conducted in Enid, OK. Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, handled local arrangements.
